Introduction
In the following paragraphs I will discuss about one of my strengths I have observed during the CELTA Course as well as one of my areas of development for my future teaching practices. I have decided to focus my attention on two specific areas: eliciting and board organization; a strong and a weak point in my teaching practice respectively. I will address and analyze both of them separately, and I will explain a course of action to develop and improve such areas.
Strength
The CELTA Course gives us the opportunity to constantly observe ourselves as well as other English teachers in action and to receive feedback upon our performances. One of the most frequent positive points on my lessons is the use of elicitation. For instance, on my Teaching Practice (TP) 2, my tutor Ricardo pointed out that “[I made] good use of elicitation.” Also, my other tutor Linda, during the tutorial, told me that I have “a variety of elicitation techniques” and that “[I] elicit throughout the class.” Furthermore, my peers have also congratulated me for the way I elicit from students the information I need.
For Scott Thornbury (2011), eliciting “serves not only to maximize speaking opportunities, but to involve the learners actively in the construction of knowledge.” I do not like to give my students all the answers, and for this reason, I try to elicit as much information from them as possible. By doing so, I have noticed that my students take a more active role during class and become more independent. Hence, I will continue making my students participate instead of me giving them a lecture every class.

I am likewise aiming to give to my board a better use. As mentioned in section 3, I will follow Scrivener advice and will draw a board organization sketch for each stage of my lesson. By doing so, I would be able to know what to erase or leave on it. It might take a while for me to have a tidy board, but I will make sure it looks understandable for my learners.
After CELTA
Once the course is finished, I will take the time to design a board organization template. This template will be used as guide for all my lessons and will help me to standardize the content of it. Obviously, I will take into account my students’ needs and the amount of information they can process at a time. I am sure this will result beneficial for them and for me as well.
Lesson plans are very well organized including visuals for the materials being illustrated. Academic vocabulary is addressed in many ways. For example, key concept and vocabulary words will be introduced to the students at start of lesson using building background. The key aspect of teaching is engaging the students. I can testify that I learn best when the teacher is involving me, as well as others, in the assignment. Making the material personal is a useful skill and helps the students learn at a faster rate.

Instead of teaching us how to do projects and essays, how to use the quadratic formula, how to understand the concept of war, teach us instead the art of persuasion. Teach us the ways of entertaining an audience, the dilemmas that the world faces. Teach us that there are an enormous amount of issues in the world and they come with an abundant amount of solutions. To learn how to engage an audience is to learn how to teach one.
s one gets older in life, it 's easy to look back on life to see what you did right or wrong. For many, self-reflection can help one look back at the steps . It can also help pinpoint all the actions that led to the mistakes.
For example, online collaboration, face-to-face whole, and small group. These discussions hold them accountable for developing their ideas about the topics and enable them to share their views with others, promoting a diversity of perspectives. These interactions can also challenge their thinking and prompt them to consider new ideas and concepts when making sense of experiences and constructing their knowledge. To orchestrate discussion among students, I serve as a guide and facilitator, encouraging them to accept responsibility for their learning rather than maintaining responsibility and authority myself. I also help them to respond to one another’s ideas rather than responding directly to me and display and promote respect for all students’ ideas. These strategies not only help foster a community of learners, but they can continue the approach in their classrooms with their students. Posing questions on materials covered and the quality of materials selected can create the desired environment for students to thrive. I want to inspire my students to think outside the box and to ask questions. Society needs thinkers not robots. The classroom plays an important part in aiding the growth of an individual. It is my duty as a teacher to impart knowledge because ideas have a way of changing lives. Examining and discussing ideas with students allows them to move to a new level of understanding, so that ultimately, they may be transformed.
The interactive whiteboard has been in use in the corporate arena for many years and has been successful in making impact on customers through a seamless presentation of data. The interactive whiteboard has made a jump to the classroom and has been able to have just as significant of an impact but for many different reasons. The interactive whiteboard has become a tool to engage students, provide for student involvement in the learning process and has generally made learning more fun for both teacher and student. There are many articles about the use of interactive whiteboards and there have been researchers throughout the world measuring the benefits that these boards are providing to the impact of learning and delivery of knowledge.
For everything we do, even if it is our best performance, there is always room for improvement. It could not be different in a career such as teaching. Teachers are always self-reflecting to analyze and evaluate their own teaching methods in order to find out what works and what needs to improve. With this information in hand, teachers can come up with strategies to improve certain areas of their teaching. There are many tools teacher can use to self-reflect. As a teacher, I will continually evaluate the effects of my professional decisions and actions on students through self-reflective journals, video recordings, students’ formal and informal assessments, peer support, student and parent evaluation, and suggestion box.
The overall essence of education or knowledge acquisition is reflected in an axiom by Confucius which says “Tell me, and I will forget; show me, and I will remember; but involve me, and I will understand. Back then, it was clear that learning was a comprehensive process which involves passionate exchanges between students and their teachers; unfortunately this is not the case in most modern classrooms. Instead of the expected bidirectional communication between learners and teachers, in the modern learning environment there is a unidirectional system which involves the teacher incessantly hurling facts at students who, due to their passive roles as mere receptacles, have fallen asleep or; in the case of “best” students are mindlessly taking notes. This leads to a situation where knowledge has neither been conferred nor acquired.
Students need to understand the essence of what is being said to them or presented to them during instructional periods. For students to understand what is being said to them, teachers should use graphic organizers to help students understand what is being taught to them. My stage of development would be proficient in all four domains and components of professional practice, however, few domains and components are my higher strength and the other areas are needed improvement. Personality is the expression of a person’s traits according to ones feelings, mentality and behavior. It involves understanding individuals’ traits such as withdrawal and willpower and how various parts of an individual link together to form personality. Personality expresses itself from within an individual and is comparatively regular throughout in an individual’s life. Different people have different personalities dependent on factors such as environment and genetic composition. Our personality is dependent on the success or failure of our development in the eight stages of life. This is proposed by Erik Erikson. Success in the development stages lead to virtues while the failure leads to malignancies.
