I have learned a lot from this course and I believe that if I filled out a self-diagnostic form now it would be different than when I started. I said that, regarding my content, my strongest point is my first few lines and my weakest point is my ending. I would still agree about my strongest point. I think that my first few lines are really captivating to my audience. Looking at my peer evaluations I would say that my classmates agree. Both of the evaluations mention my attention getter and how they worked really well. I believe that I have improved on my endings. Looking back at my eulogy and the peer evaluation, one note that was mentioned was my ending and that it was very good. I believe that I still have some things to work on regarding …show more content…
I said that my greatest strength was my information and the way it is presented and my greatest weakness was my transitions. I think this section of my form would be very different. Looking back at my first speech, my evaluator said that my organization was a bit jumbled and they were not sure why my speaker was there. After I read that and reviewed my speech I had to agree. I thought that was my greatest strength and I came to realize that it was not and I need to work on it more and more. I would have to say that my transitions were not my greatest weakness. When writing a paper I struggle with them, but during a speech it is different. I think that my speeches flowed nicely together. I need to work on my organization and transitions. During presentations and speeches I need to make sure everything flows and makes …show more content…
I said my greatest strength was my vocal projection and my greatest weakness was my body movements. I think this part of the form would be similar with a few changes. Both of the evaluations I received said that my vocal projection and articulation were good and that I was easy to understand. Regarding my greatest weakness I would still agree with it being my body movements. My peer evaluation from the introduction speech said that my movements seemed nervous and jumpy. I think that standing behind the podium during the eulogy helped me to be able to control my movements more. Looking at my impromptu speeches I still have a lot of movement and hand gestures all the time and they seem to get in the way when I’m speaking. One thing about my delivery that I hadn’t noticed before was that I talk very fast. My peer evaluation from the eulogy said that I talked very fast, but articulated well. I still need to work on body movements, but also my speed. I can work on these things all the time. I need to pay attention when I give presentations to my body movements and my speed. It is an easy thing to control and work on through
One of my greatest strengths pertaining to education is my ability to complete my work in a timely matter. I only turned in late work at least two times in my high school career. Another strength I possess is being a respectful, erudite student. I can understand the lessons quickly and listen to my teacher in a considerate manner. Although one can discuss their strengths indefinitely, weaknesses must be told to understand a person. One of my main shortcomings is public speaking. I find it hard to present myself in front of a large group of people. Once I begin to know my peers, it is easier for me to speak in front of them during
I believe that everyone has their own strength and weaknesses, but not everyone is able to figure out their strengths and weaknesses correctly. Knowing our own strengths and weaknesses is essential because it can help to achieve success in anything we choose to do. For me, my weakness is the time management, communication skills and weak in preparing effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) Below will be further explaining all my personal weaknesses and the ways to overcome it.
The weakness I portray are very difficult for me to think of. I know that I have quite a few but to change them is something that I have not full conquered yet. A weakness I know I have is sentence structure. I am not very good at putting sentences together and making them strong and well developed. Another weakness that is obvious is word choice. I don't always know the exact wording to use in different parts of a paper, this makes it hard to understand sometimes not very well written.
In this essay I think I had more strengths than weaknesses. This was one of my favorite essays I have ever written. The reason being was because I knew so much about the topic that I really enjoyed writing this essay. One strength I had was the content of the essay. All of my ideas were supported with evidence. Another strength was that my paper had organization. I started off talking about Marie Deans’ younger years then ended with her older. There was one weakness I noticed I ad in this essay and it was my writing style. My writing style was a little better in this paper but it was not the
Many people’s perceptions of their own skills, strengths, and weaknesses are different, more some than others. Everyone’s personality is a bit different: Some have very high self-esteem, some are very egotistical, some don’t believe in themselves, etc. Most of the time, my self esteem is usually within a delicate balance of “you aren’t as good as you seem” and “you’re doing fine, relax, you’ll turn out just fine.” However, there are a pair of people that will believe in you no matter what you do: your parents. They will always be there for you, to help you succeed, and instill into yourself more self-esteem. My self-esteem has wavered throughout my academic career, always somewhat lower or higher each day. Many people are there to lower your perception of your skills: some of your peers, adults, maybe a
Before I took the test I had wrote down what I thought were my strengths and weaknesses. My strengths were Hard working, Organized, strong believer and my weaknesses were impatient, not good at remembering important dates, and procrastination.
Knowing what I can do well is just important as knowing what needs improvement. My strongest attributes are being able to perform under pressure and multitasking. This is necessary to sell products and perform services that benefit the customer. The value of getting the job done correctly and on time correlates to returning customers and repeat business. My competitive advantage over others in the same industry is the high level of service we offer. I don’t just push a product on a client. I listen to what they want and need, make suggestions for the best available solutions; and I also help them with cost savings and environmentally friendly alternatives. One weakness I have and need to work on is public speaking. As I grow in my career and move into managerial leader positions, I will have a lot more opportunities to give speeches. I plan to work on my public speaking skills by practicing and making incremental changes to constantly improve. It’s not a matter of being shy in front of a group. It’s more of a point to be well prepared for the occasion and motivated to do a good job. To stay prepared for opportunities and change, I plan on continuing my education in the business field, and learning as much as possible about my job. I will also need to stay up-to-date with current issues in my external and internal
My first strengths to communication are (responsibility for communication) the meaning of responsibility for communication means when someone knows how the person is feeling, and when someone sees them self in their shoes of any person they are talking with. For example, a woman starts to talk to the men about her having problems about her job. Once the woman talks to the mean about the situation the man starts to feel what the women is feeling and understands being in the same situation she is in. in this kind of situations ,I’m understandable when someone is going through the worst time and other times I can relate to these people I talk to. When I communicated when people are going through a rough time I communicate with them by giving asking them the question about something good that has to happen to them. My last strengths are (Flexible). The meaning of Flexible in a conversation is when the person has a good way to talk and thinking about what they are going to say before they talk. For example, a kid can ask the teacher a question, but the teacher seems to be busy. So a way the teacher would be Flexible is for the kid, is by thinking about what she is going to say, to organize her thoughts before she communicates. When it comes to a situation where someone talks to me, and I’m busy, or mad what I do is think before what I’m going to say before saying something I will
I strongly believe that the class, HD341 Communication for Empowerment fulfill my goals in taking this class because it is giving me many opportunities to make connection with other classmates. I usually check in by sharing my stories at school, at work, and any issues that I am still concerned. Therefore, verbal communication is an area I frequently use in class to communicate with my peers as well as my professor. I also have active listening my classmate’s stories and have critical thinking to giving feedbacks to them.
In final analysis, my writing has greatly improved during this semester, and having looked at the area's I most need to work on has given me an awareness of what my weaknesses are. Examining what I have learned and what I need to learn allows me to generate a strategy to fortify my writing skills. Critiquing my own work has given me insight into how my writing is progressing in this class and allowed me to see short comings I had missed previously. Self-evaluation is a helpful tool for anyone who wants to continue to learn what areas they can improve upon and how much progress they are making. I believe those who appraise their own work will have a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses then those who do not evaluate themselves.
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
Culture is a concept that classifies shared values, beliefs, traditions, and principles among members of a specific group. It is important to understand one’s own culture as well as other cultures in order to become culturally aware. A way to become more culturally aware is to research one’s own cultural background. Through researching my origins, identifying my past encounters with other’s beliefs, biases, and behaviors, and placing myself into the shoes of another culture, I am more aware of the influence my culture and other cultures have had on me.
The aspect which could be counted as my weakness is communication. Over the last year, there has been an improvement after working in my family’s café thus improving these skills and will continue
Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
Personal Effectiveness is using all of our potential resources in order to achieve both work and life goals. It is when we use all our personal resources at our disposal-talent, skills, time in order to get what we want in life. In everyday life we put so much effort to get what we want to achieve in life. We spend a large amount of our time and energy. In this world many people are working towards achieving the same goal with different costs. This is because everyone has different personal effectiveness.
