Personal Strategic Management Plan: Vision Statement: My vision is to have a plan for where my life is heading, to be able to adapt to the inevitable changes that arise, and keep my values in tact that help me to live a meaningful and valued life. Mission: The core values that will help maintain my vision are: • Ambition • Responsibility • Commitment • Innovation • Dependability • A balance of flexibility and stability Stakeholder Identification: My stakeholders include family, the company I work for, coworkers, friends, and the local community. My family and friends expect success from me, just as I will expect success from them. My co-workers expect positive teamwork skills and dependability. Knowing what I can do well is just important as knowing what needs improvement. My strongest attributes are being able to perform under pressure and multitasking. This is necessary to sell products and perform services that benefit the customer. The value of getting the job done correctly and on time correlates to returning customers and repeat business. My competitive advantage over others in the same industry is the high level of service we offer. I don’t just push a product on a client. I listen to what they want and need, make suggestions for the best available solutions; and I also help them with cost savings and environmentally friendly alternatives. One weakness I have and need to work on is public speaking. As I grow in my career and move into managerial leader positions, I will have a lot more opportunities to give speeches. I plan to work on my public speaking skills by practicing and making incremental changes to constantly improve. It’s not a matter of being shy in front of a group. It’s more of a point to be well prepared for the occasion and motivated to do a good job. To stay prepared for opportunities and change, I plan on continuing my education in the business field, and learning as much as possible about my job. I will also need to stay up-to-date with current issues in my external and internal …show more content…
I have been with them for three years, and can imagine myself remaining with them for at least five more years. Their core values are as follows: Integrity, People, Service, Quality, Performance, Innovation, and Growth. At many levels, their core values fit along with my own beliefs and values. The company is loyal to the people that work for them, which motivates me to give back the same amount of loyalty. Their focus on innovation is another core value of mine that I stated in my mission statement. As I move through my career and progress into more leadership roles, I plan to use my degree in business management to help me gain a position in the management-training program with Sherwin Williams. To get that job I have to know my job well and prove myself as an effective leader and productive employee who can create value for the company and myself. I am also willing to travel, and move to where there may be open positions and more opportunity for career advancement. Five years after graduation, I would like to be with the same company, learning how to run a business, and what it takes to be an effective leader. If I’m still with the company after ten years, I could see myself in a higher management position. To be able to progress in my career, I have to learn everything it takes to run the store. I also need to learn as much as I can about the products and services we have to offer. My
After analyzing the Coastal Medical Center, it is apparent that the employees and staff have no conception of the mission, vision, and values of this health care facility. In addition to this lack of structure, CMC has many projects in the midst of production that lack support of a common goal, employees are unsatisfied with their jobs, the two boards lack ability to agree on strategic decisions for the organization,, and the medical center has a dismal reputation when it comes to quality care.
Andy Stanley begins with the origin of a vision. Stanley (1999) contends, “Visions are born in the soul of a man or woman who is consumed with the tension between what is and what could be” (p. 17). According to Stanley, a vision is the ability to see what is possible in light of the present reality. A leader will not a have a vision for an organization if he is content with the status quo. Conversely, it is out of discontent that a vision is birth within a leader’s heart.
New businesses will take longer to thrive with the United States falling economy. The faltering job market and the deepening slump in housing threaten to hurt consumer spending. Consumers are becoming more conscious of their spending and therefore using cash to pay for smaller necessary purchases. The cost of entertainment and other presumed luxuries may be pushed to the background by most families, when having to choose whether to pay for a bill or treat the family out. Thriving businesses will understand the need to provide a service or product at affordable prices.
Whether you work in the private or public sector, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a business. To run a successful business you must employ the practices of a market leader. Market leadership requires professional development. Through professional development, strategic plans can be learned and then used to improve leadership and the organization as a whole. In the following paragraphs I will discuss the characteristics of an EMS market leader and the role professional development has played and will continue to play in my transition into a market leader. I will also describe my personal strategic plan that I will use to guide me through the first 90 days in my new position as EMS Officer, as well as a plan for any improvement
Having a clear vision is worthless unless it is put into practice. Acknowledging the areas I lack is part of the growth that I claim to value. With that being said I will partake in more events that will cause me to speak more. I have a phobia of public speaking. I understand that this can and will prevent me from achieving personal mastery if not remedied. Engaging with people is not my strongest characteristic however I understand that if I want to help as many people as I can, it cannot be done by being afraid to engage in conversation with people whom I do not know. Exercising has always been how I relax and release stress. I have decided that I will incorporate more outdoor exercises in my workout plans.
... speaking is difficult because of anxiety and worry of making myself look like a fool. These skills will have to be sought and practiced upon, considering I would be the head of a company and everyone would be looking at me for answers and dealing with situations. The skills and abilities that best fit me, I believe, are planning/organizing under pressure, problem solving, ability to communicate with others, learning the roles of others, being honest, and staying productive and creative. Also owning and running a company, and being an Imagineer, is very stressful and takes a great amount of time; like most individuals they work from eight to five, however for myself I could work from eight to midnight or one in the morning and weekends. I will need to discover how to improve and manage my time so that I am not so extended with day-to-day activities and functions.
According to the text, vision statements should be massively inspiring, overarching, and long term. Provide several examples of potential vision statements for various organizations and discuss how such vision statements would inspire employees around a cause.
Vision statements are long-range goals of an individual or business. These goals describe core competencies that provide competitive advantage (De Kluyver & Pearce, 2011). Creating a personal vision statement involves envisioning the future from different points in time. Looking at a few months ahead out to a few years covers this area. The goal is to picture the desired goal for the future and evaluate the present to see what changes are needed to achieve the goal. The future self is directly connected to the present self as they are both a part of the entire person (Peterkin, 2003).
I would desire that the company generates profits as that what keeps an organization going forward. It is vital to strive to keep the business as profitable as possible without violating any ethical standards. Customer service is an integral part of management philosophy as customers are important to every business. As a manager, it is vital to creating products and services that meet the actual and perceived needs of clients. Management requires thinking of the external environment since there is a significant change in the environment where the organization operates and there is a need to alter the life of the business to ensure that it reflects the changing
“Our vision serves as the framework for our roadmap and guides every aspect of our business by describing what we need to accomplish in order to continue achieving sustainable, quality growth” (Coca-Cola Co).
Throughout my life, my experiences and role models have shaped my understanding of leadership. I believe leadership is responsibly guiding and motivating others to use both my strengths and their own to obtain success. My personal leadership philosophy is guided by my core values of my family, relationships, loyalty, harmony, and responsibility. My ever-changing definition of philosophy helps my leadership and decision making routinely. New experience’s and external forces effect my translation of leadership daily which, in turn, helps shape me into a successful leader.
In my presentation on drag racing I feel my top communication strengths would be my presentation aid, voice, and my knowledge on the topic. I believe all of which helped my presentation go smoothly, without too many hiccups. Each of these strengths played a huge part in my speech.
The vision that I have for myself before I graduate from the Haskayne School of Business (HSB) is to achieve academic excellence, whilst continuing to shine in other aspects of my life: relationships, health and fitness; and community involvement.
After reviewing the questions in the “Create Your Personal Vision Statement” article and developing answers, I have created several visions I wish to accomplish in the future. As a few of you may know, my dream is to become a music supervisor for films; that is the most imperative vision. Additionally, I desire to spend a copious amount of time traveling the world and experiencing various cultures. Also, I have a passion for animals; therefore, I wish to own a large area of land and have numerous dogs, cats, pigs, goats, etc. I desire to care for any animal that has seen abuse or lives in a shelter. In regards to internal visions, I desire to be content and carefree as well as be outgoing with others as I tend to be an introvert. For my mission,
My personal vision of the future is not something I have taken a significant amount of time to ponder in the past. I have general ideas of where I see myself both personally and professionally in future but have not identified specific steps to get there or pondered why I want to be in that situation. When taking on this somewhat daunting task of identifying my future self it is important to identify my driving values, philosophy, dreams, and my personal calling. Self-reflection on these characteristics and preferences are key to a developing a successful picture of the future.
