“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily”- John C Maxwell. This is the quote that I have used as motivation for a while. I put this quote into perspective in my self-behavior Modification project by keeping me motivated to completely stop drinking soda (Mtn. Dew, Sprite, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Etc.). I used to drink four or five 12oz cans of soda a day and now I feel like I drink more soda then water. that to me is not satisfying in the sense that I am putting around 60 grams of sugar into my body every time I drink one of the sodas. I plan to start off slow and make my progress by weekly. To reward myself for reaching my goal each week will be that I can drink a lemonade or some type of fruit punch. That way I have …show more content…
a little bit of sugar but not too much, and not the carbonation that might make me relapse and crave soda again. At times it is very difficult to stay on track and try not to order a soda, but I have been drinking a lot more water and my body is feeling way better than before. I personally haven’t experienced any failure yet but I do have a long ways to go, If I by chance fall off track for a week I will change the dates of my goals and start that week over. I have learned in this process that sometimes you need to go through hard times of cutting things off to live a better life. I hope that I can stick with this plan because I truly believe that I will feel better, and when you feel good you live an all-around better life

John, a 15 year old male, is an 8th grade student attending a local middle school. John is a transfer student from another state and he been placed into an inclusion classroom because he has been identified as a student with a disability and requires an IEP. Lately, John has been verbally and physically disruptive during math class. Some of the disruptive behaviors John often exhibit in the classroom include making loud noises and jokes during instruction, calling his peers names, physically touching his peers, and grabbing group materials. John’s teacher collected data and learned that his verbal disruptive behavior occurs 4-8 times during each sixty minute class meeting, and his physical group disruptions occur 75% of the time he works with a group. After meeting with John’s other teachers, his math teacher learned that his disruptive behavior is only present during math class. According to John’s math test scores on his IEP, his math instructor also learned that math is a challenging subject for John and he is significantly below grade level. Both John’s math teacher and his IEP team reached an agreement that they would like to decrease the number of times John disrupts instruction and eventually eliminate the disruptive behavior. The replacement behavior for John is to remain focused and on task during math instruction and assigned activities without triggering any disruptions (i.e., distracting loud noises or jokes causing the class to go into a laughing uproar, physical contact with peers, name calling, or grabbing his peers’ materials). Instead of John being punished for his disruptive behavior, the replacement behavior would allow him to remain in math class, and he will also be able to receive posit...
Overall, I am pleased with the changes that I have made to my diet, and plan to continue working towards my goals. In order to accomplish my goals in the future, I will try to slowly increase my fruit, vegetable, and whole grain consumption. Another goal that I need to work on is to slowly limit the amount of meat products that I consume. Incorporating these changes will help me accomplish my goals of increasing my calories and decreasing my protein intake to the recommended values set by the Dietary Reference intakes. As long as I can continue to practice these healthier ways of eating, I am sure to have a longer and healthier life and decrease my risk of chronic diseases as I age.
...fore I have taken the steps outlined in this essay and made a change in my behavior by joining Weight Watchers.
reinforcement and punishment were applied to gain desired behavior and clear target behavior. Verbal positive reinforcement and positive punishment was used, maintaining a firm consistency throughout the intervening period. To achieve the best result a tightly controlled environment was created to limit any possible distractions. Results obtained during the follow-up period indicated a substantial success for the intervention program.
...e completely healthy attempting to avoid my punishment and then there were days where I ultimately caved and failed at eating well. On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.
Currently, I do not have any diagnosed health problems, however I there are a large amount of diseases that run in my family, which puts me at greater risk to contracting them. As a result, I should be taking preventative measures to insure that I will have longevity and overall health wellness. Therefore my health change behavior goals are to workout consistently, and to eat less processed snacks and pastries. While these seem like simple changes , in the past I have struggled with staying consistent with my goals because I do not make time for them and I tend to forget the benefits in the process. I have chosen these specific goals because they fit in with each other and will ultimately help me to achieve my desired outcome which is weight
1.Different schools of thought provide perspectives on behavior and behavior management. Chapter 1, Basic Concepts of Behavior and Behavior Management, presented an overview of behavioral, psychological, and sociological approaches to behavior management. Compare two of these approaches and explain how their perspectives are similar or different with regard to behavior, behavior problems, discipline, attitude, responsibility, and consequences.
In the book A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess the main character, Alex, is exposed to an experimental technique known as "Ludovico's Technique" which causes him to feel pain whenever he is exposed to sex, violence, or certain types of music. This Ludovico's Technique is a form of behavior modification, most likely inspired by B.F. Skinner.
Behavior Modification in Children Children are basically honest with displaying negative behaviors. There is no discrimination where they are displayed whether at home, in the community, or around other people. In many cases, it takes a ‘village’ of parents, advocates, teachers, and, if applicable, clinical professionals to address unwarranted behaviors. Determining how these behaviors are approached depends on the appropriate method to best address a child’s needs. This paper demonstrates three alternative methods of modifying unacceptable behavior, how they are used, the most effective and effectiveness of the methods.
I found that this was harder than I thought, because of not being able to eat a proper lunch during most of my work week while I have a class in session. Now that I have made changes in what I eat, I find myself eating healthier, by bringing more fruit to work to eat when I am really in need of a snack. I would bring things like oranges, apples, bananas or grapes, which I cut up and then bring them each one not counting the bananas of course into separate small Ziploc bags . When came to your advice from our day one discuss, I have started making small changes to what I eat and the things I take. One example of this is during my week one super food tracker you told me I should to stay away from processed foods, because we as humans have evolved over millions of years, and processed foods has just recently made it face on the scene of things that are bad for us. You explain those types of foods wreaks havoc on our bodies, resulting in obesity, diabetes, and a plethora of other diseases and it’s because of your comment I have started making changes. Some of the things that I have read has all so made me try my best to stay away from those types of food, I have cut my intake of such food by more than half or maybe more than half now that I really think about. The second piece of advice is you is the use of canned tomatoes, I used my last can four days and will try stewing some fresh ones this weekend. I am all so now eating less red meat, one example was about two three ago I broke out the grill and grilled a week's worth of chicken and smoke a whole turkey something which I am still eating from as of the 1st May 2018. When considering your advice on avoiding any drinks with added sugar, organic or not I will try to and drink water, but I may have to add fruits or lemons for
For the entire month of February, I challenged myself to go to the gym, to cut out all unhealthy foods, and to be a positive force to be reckoned with for thirty days. I went to the gym because I wished to live healthier, to become more in touch with myself, to see if I could not learn what the gym had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover I had not lived. I want to prove that I can do this, not for others, but for myself. Most people are uncertain about themselves and live hastily, but through dedication to live healthy, it has helped me live more for myself.
If I’m being completely honest, I have a long list of things I would like to change about myself. I’m sure everyone does, but personally I could pick out my flaws better than I could pick out my strengths. The weird thing is, however, I genuinely like myself. I think I’m pretty great and that my imperfections are what makes me who I am. With all of that said, I would still like to be more refined and love myself rather than just like myself.
To improve my health over a period of 14 days I had two main goals: eat healthier and increase my activity level. I planned to not eat fast food, cut out caffeine, and eat a healthy balance of fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and grains. In addition, to increase my activity level I intended to go to the gym four days a week and workout for at least 45 minutes to an hour a day. There were not many changes to my original plan other than working out almost every day and sometimes even doing two activities a day. I never really noticed how many days I was working out, but I knew working out or at least doing some type of activity made me stress-free at the end of the day.
For this assignment, I filmed myself teaching a mid-unit Math lesson on ‘money’; the lesson included reviewing the goal and scales of learning, a smart board review of the concept and a hands-on activity. I chose to assess myself with the Behavior Management portion of the CLASS assessment tool because I feel that as a beginning teacher, this is the area that I wish to improve most upon. I believe that successful and effective classroom management will facilitate learning, class climate and instructional delivery, therefore, I am mostly focusing on improving this skill throughout this semester.
My parents know that soda makes my stomach much bigger and they motivated me to change this habit. I used to drink a lot soda with chips, french fries, chicken and pizza. Something important that made me find out is, when we people like something, then, continuously start eating the same food for a very long time until we start disliking them. Since, I have drank soda for a long time, now I feel the same taste and the taste became old to me. My parents motivation and own realization made me accomplishing this habit. I believe, Human are creatures of habit. Overtime, We buy the same foods from the same grocery store, prepare the same recipes over and over. But, if we are serious about eating healthier and losing weight, then, it is possible to change those bad eating habits until it is too late. In order to maintain a healthy behavior, first one should start to prepare for it. However, in order to achieve these goals of health and fitness is really about involving in healthy behaviors on a daily routine basis. It does not matter how small the habit is, over time they can have a huge effect on an individual’s health. Therefore, we have to be serious about changing our lifestyle in order to achieve the goal.
