Currently, I do not have any diagnosed health problems, however I there are a large amount of diseases that run in my family, which puts me at greater risk to contracting them. As a result, I should be taking preventative measures to insure that I will have longevity and overall health wellness. Therefore my health change behavior goals are to workout consistently, and to eat less processed snacks and pastries. While these seem like simple changes , in the past I have struggled with staying consistent with my goals because I do not make time for them and I tend to forget the benefits in the process. I have chosen these specific goals because they fit in with each other and will ultimately help me to achieve my desired outcome which is weight …show more content…
Even though my physique does not appear to be overweight, I know that the weight I am at is not healthy for my height. Another short term goal would be an increase in my productivity and energy. I tend to feel fatigued in the afternoon , but making these changes should give me more energy to do my daily task. The main long term benefit would be preventing the onset of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. These three chronic disease are on both sides of my family, therefore I need to take even more precaution and control my behaviors since I cannot control my genetics. Lastly a second long term benefit would be savings on healthcare cost. By not acquiring these diseases , there is less chance that I will have to pay for prescription medications, emergency fees or any treatments for the …show more content…
On the first day, I will meal prep my healthy meals and snacks for the next 4-5 days, and continue to cook new meals every few days as I run out . These meals and snacks will include a lot of fruits and vegetables with a limited amount of animal protein and carbs. When I do consume protein , it will be mainly be lean protein such as chicken or turkey. I will also refrain from consuming dairy products and processed snacks. Although I will not calorie count I will still portion out all my meals and snacks. As for my workout regimen, I want to exercise at least 5 times a week and take two rest days. The workouts will be different everyday and focus on specific areas , the three different workout patterns will be back and biceps , legs and triceps and shoulders and chest. I will do this pattern for three days and then take a rest day and do another series of the pattern. By scheduling them like this I can make sure every part of my body is getting toned. There will be 20 minutes of cardio before every 30 minute workout of muscle training, and a 10 minute ab workout everyday since this is my biggest problem area. In the beginning I will start with fairly simple workouts with very low weight, as the days progress I will up my weight and do more difficult workouts. I hope to lose at least a pound a week , and to eventually reach my goal weight of 120
Isn’t everyone’s goal in life to be able to achieve something amazing? Better yet what about setting great goals as an individual? Wouldn’t you like to better yourself as a person? As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said “you can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets”, this simply meaning that a person must be “hungry” and have a great drive to be able to achieve greatness. The feeling of greatness and satisfaction that a person will get from being a healthy, fit individual is unexplainable. Being satisfied with your own body is a very important factor to life itself. People that are healthy are known to live healthy lifestyles as well as to be great in age. There is no negative sides to being healthy, people that are healthy are happy. I plan to take an individual and better them by training them and making them a healthier person. The steps I will go through in order to make this happen are steps such as training the person, making a nutritional plan for them, and being there to support them along the journey. I will be training the person using some fundamentals that have worked for majority of world-class athletes. I plan to use simple bodybuilding tactics as my muscle builder, such as old school techniques that Arnold Schwarzenegger used in the golden ages of the sport itself. As my research has shown, my client and I are both pleased with the “golden era” physiques and we plan to make a healthy/fit body molded like the bodies of that “era”. In this project my client and I have decided to base the “nutritional plan” as a high protein/Low carb diet, which I will release in this paper. Through out this project, it should be well know that this is not an easy sport! And the discipline to stick with it is extre...
The healthcare reform debate has been politicized in the United States for many years where there have been deliberate efforts by various stakeholders to ensure that they push for the reforms that are in line with the cost-benefit aspects that they have already envisioned. In this paper, I will attempt to prove that the reforms that have been witnessed in the healthcare in the recent years have not been effective and helpful to the society as a whole. When President Obama came into office, he promised to oversee great reforms in the healthcare which is his government he face much priority in the social policy aspects. The congress managed to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
Overall, I am pleased with the changes that I have made to my diet, and plan to continue working towards my goals. In order to accomplish my goals in the future, I will try to slowly increase my fruit, vegetable, and whole grain consumption. Another goal that I need to work on is to slowly limit the amount of meat products that I consume. Incorporating these changes will help me accomplish my goals of increasing my calories and decreasing my protein intake to the recommended values set by the Dietary Reference intakes. As long as I can continue to practice these healthier ways of eating, I am sure to have a longer and healthier life and decrease my risk of chronic diseases as I age.
People will at least once, probably more, have to deal with insurance companies. For many, this typically results in a long, and heated struggle of figuring out what is covered, and what is not. It is also usually accompanied by negotiating something to be covered, and giving justification of why it should. Almost anyone will agree that handling insurance companies is as bad as pulling teeth. This is said to be true even when the medical diagnoses are concrete in the social construct of society. Many insurances will not cover things as dyer as cancer. If this is so commonly believed, imagine how it is for the illness that are not concrete; illnesses such as bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and schizophrenia. All phrases that are commonly heard in media, but widely accepted as untrue illnesses, or educated
Health issues throughout the human lifespan are always hard to deal with. In this essay, I will give examples of different health issues that occur throughout the lifespan of a human. The seven different stages of a human’s lifespan include: infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood. By the concluding paragraph of this essay, you will have gained knowledge of some of the health related issues of a given person throughout their lifespan.
In the United States of America, people view health care as a product to be bought and sold. Therefore, anyone who could not avail the health care would not have any coverage. Without any form of health care, someone could not achieve their outstanding potential when sick. United States has spent so much money in trying to make this country as one of the best in the world. There is economic growth if the health of the citizenry is safeguarded. In this nation that is known for its wealth, it is very ironic to find people without proper insurance due to high cost and therefore are denied health care (Bergen, Fultz, Kessie, & Osburn, 2015). Society is denying them the right to live. Butts & Rich (2005) stated that in order to achieve social
The United States of America is supposed to be the greatest nation on earth. We are supposed to celebrate freedom and praise equality. We are all supposed to have the opportunity to live a nice, long, wonderful life. There are quite a few problems that make the above difficult, to say the least.
The Transtheoretical Model is used to understand how individuals change health behaviors. Use of this model aids in developing interventions, appropriate for each stage of the change process. The model includes a total of six stages of change, which are: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination (Glanz, Rimer, & Viswanath, 2015). During the precontemplation stage, individuals have no intentions of taking action to change their behaviors within the following six months. During the contemplation stage individuals have an intention to change their behavior within the next six months. Individuals of the preparation stage, intend to take action to change the health behavior within the next 30 days. Action
Universal health care is medical insurance provided to all the residents of a country by their government. Out of all the major industrial countries, The United States is the only country without a universal health care system. In 2010, President Barack Obama signed a health care reform law making it illegal to be uninsured in America, which is a major step towards it. Universal Health Care should be mandatory in America because it gives everyone an opportunity to receive more equal care, the overall health of the population would increase and current insurance plans are unaffordable for many Americans.
Life is full of uncertainties. Risk lurks in every nook and corner of human life. In short, life is unpredictable. We need to be prepared for such circumstances. Leading a happy life, involves good planning and analysis for your personal health. Accidents do happen and you need to be prepared for such situations. In times of high health cost, you need to get covered for health risks.
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.
Eating Responsibly To eat responsibly means to know what you are eating and knowing what you are putting into your body, whether it is healthy for you or not. It’s a sad fact that the typical American diet (high in meat and processed foods) is not healthy. There are a lot of different ways to stay healthy, but it can also be very difficult to follow a good diet plan all the time. I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I have tried to eat well before all of my classes. I include the necessary protein of eggs and sausage, and include a fruit of some kind.
My goal is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I want to be mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy overall. As long as I am maintaining a healthy lifestyle, my weight shouldn 't be a significant factor in my life. I 've done and continue to do numerous things to ensure that I maintain this sort of lifestyle. Simple things such as drinking a smoothie every morning can have a big impact on your health. I 've come to realize that being healthy and being thin are two completely different things. You can be unhealthy and thin, just as well as healthy and not thin. Your happiness shouldn 't be wrapped around your weight, because that is not healthy. Since my goal is to maintain a healthier lifestyle, I 've been eating clean, meditating, and exercising. To make sure I don 't fall into the cycle of bad eating, I make sure I am stocked on healthy food choices. I still have my cheat days every now and then, but I 'm a lot more healthier than I was when I first started out. Meditation isn 't anything new to me, but I haven 't done it in a really long time. It 's a great way to clear the mind and relax the muscles. Yoga is also a great way to feel refresh physically and mentally. "There is nobody else like you, so your nutritional requirements are also unique. This is where a nutritional counsellor can help you create healthier habits and tasty alternatives that will fit your lifestyle." Hagadorn, M. (2005, January 1). I 've learned to alway make my own lists and things of the sort according to the foods I like. I 'm more likely to eat the things I like versus the things I do not like. At the beginning I was buying things I didn 't
A healthy lifestyle is usually picked up as we get older. However, think of how much more beneficial it would be for our bodies when we get older, if we would have learned and adapted to a healthier lifestyle when we were younger? Teaching your kids how important a healthy diet is, will help them maintain that lifestyle in their older years. Not to mention have lower health risks, higher self-esteem and it will give them the energy they need to keep up with their eating habits and maintain their body weight.
I know in the back of my mind that I need to eat healthier and exercise more, but I never actually put my thoughts about it into action. I need to keep myself in the right mindset to accomplish my goals of making myself healthier. I often will get distracted and forget all about what I had planned on doing; I need to focus. I think also having someone else there to push me and make sure I keep at the good habits will keep me from straying away. I feel like I have plenty of time to go and exercise or think “Oh, I can eat something healthy during my next meal.” However, the next thing I know, the day is over and I didn’t keep to my word. It’s a lot harder than I realized, and I’m still trying my best to get better at
