Health issues throughout the human lifespan are always hard to deal with. In this essay, I will give examples of different health issues that occur throughout the lifespan of a human. The seven different stages of a human’s lifespan include: infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, and late adulthood. By the concluding paragraph of this essay, you will have gained knowledge of some of the health related issues of a given person throughout their lifespan. First of all, infancy, early childhood, and middle childhood are the first three stages of the human lifespan. During infancy in 1955, out of every 1,000 babies that were born, 210 of them died of serious illnesses before their fifth birthday; however, …show more content…
by 1995, the death rate of children fell to 78 per 1,000 babies (WHO, 1998). Many health issues may occur within a child’s first year of living; such as: malnutrition and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Malnutrition is caused when an infant is not receiving an adequate amount of nutrition in its diet. Sudden infant death syndrome is when a healthy infant suddenly dies without a cause. Within early childhood, diphtheria and scarlet fever are two serious illnesses that could occur if precautions are not taken. Diphtheria is an extremely contagious bacterial disease that causes a membrane in the throat to form which complicates breathing, swallowing, and could cause nerve damage to a child; however, immunizations are used to help stop this disease. Scarlet fever is an infection that causes a red rash to form; this is caused by streptococcal, or strep throat. Middle childhood has two health issues and they are asthma and accidents. Asthma is a condition of the respiratory tract where spasms of the bronchi tubes of the lungs occur due to sensitivity to allergies or other air borne pathogens. The leading cause of deaths in this stage are accidents (Papalia, n.d.). Next, adolescence and early adulthood have many major health issues that occur within these stages of development. During adolescence, a couple of health issues that occur include: alcohol and/or substance abuse, and sexually transmitted diseases. Alcohol/substance abuse begins to occur around this stage of development, because teenagers are learning about new and exciting things that they want to try with their friends without knowing the full consequences of their actions. Sexually transmitted diseases are mainly in this age group, because not many teenagers know the consequences of not using protection, such as condoms; also, teenagers rarely get treated for their STD’s, because they are afraid of being criticized or they do not know the symptoms of them. Early adulthood usually involves the deeper health issues; examples are as followed: diabetes and cirrhosis of the liver. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce a sufficient amount of insulin that is needed to function properly. Cirrhosis of the liver is a type of disease from scarring of the liver tissues; alcohol and/or hepatitis are the causes of this disease. Finally, as we get into middle and late adulthood, the risks of health issues become greater, because our systems decrease with age.
When a person is at the stage of middle adulthood, his or her body changes drastically; for instance, women go through menopause and erectile dysfunction occurs in men. Menopause is when a typical woman (between the age of 45 and 50) has a discontinuation of her menstruation. Erectile dysfunction is when a man is unable to withstand a long lasting erection for sexual activity. As we move into late adulthood, our memories begin to get a little fuzzy and we have a fear of Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s is defined as the deterioration of a person’s mental processes. These are only a few health issues that can occur in late adulthood. In conclusion, health issues are worried about all throughout a human’s lifespan. We cannot help, but wonder why these illnesses must continue to hurt the ones that we love. However, it helps for people to know and understand the types of illnesses that their loved ones could be faced with within their lifetimes. In this essay, you were informed of a few different types of health issues that occur through the eight different stages of a human’s
lifespan.
2.3 Explain how the health and social care practitioner own values, beliefs and experiences can influence delivery of care.
A health care directive is a legal document, based on personal values and beliefs, providing people with a sense of control and independence for their medical care. The purpose of a health care directive is to allow personal wishes on various treatments options to be met, when the individual is presented incapable. Since it is a legal document, health care professionals and family members have to abide with individual’s health care directive. Personally I value autonomy, independence, family, dignity, and selflessness. These core personal values allow me to reflect, fully comprehend and accept the consequences to the health care decisions I make for myself. In conclusion, the sections of the health care directive
Disparities in cancer are caused by the complex interaction of low economic status, culture, and social injustice, with poverty playing the dominant role (Freeman, 2004). So I ask the question: Does socioeconomics impact a man’s prostate health?

The following twelve stages of human development are discussed below which may help in the analysis of the development of the human from the birth to the adulthood.
Working in a family practice requires a nurse to treat the entire family and experience providing care for each developmental stage. Understanding the developmental stages of human growth creates an environment that allows the nurse to view and provide care for the whole person. There are eight human growth and development stages that include promoting health throughout the life span and resolving health concerns. We will look at each stage and identify significant changes and health concerns experienced for each stage.
There are many ways to categorize illness and disease; one of the most common is chronic illness. Many chronic illnesses have been related to altered health maintenance hypertension and cardiovascular diseases are associated with diet and stress, deficient in exercise, tobacco use, and obesity (Craven 2009). Some researchers define the chronic illness as diseases which have long duration and generally slow development (WHO 2013); it usually takes 6 month or longer than 6 month, and often for the person's life. It has a sluggish onset and eras of reduction for vanishing the symptoms and exacerbation for reappear the symptoms. Some of chronic illness can be directly life-threatening. Others remain over time and need intensive management, such as diabetes, so chronic illness affects physical, emotional, logical, occupational, social, or spiritual functioning. Chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes, all of these diseases are the cause of mortality in the world, representing 63% of all deaths. So a chronic illness can be stressful and may change the way a person l...
Health and Aging Often we take our health, or the absence of illness, disease, or injury for granted until we become sick. It is then that we recognize the worth of being without ailments. It is then that we appreciate feeling strong, robust and healthy. Being healthy and, being physically and mentally sound, is associated with one's satisfaction with life.
Health literacy plays an important role in individuals’ decision-making. The scope of health literacy does not limit to traditional medical perspective. In fact, it has extended from the basic understanding of diseases and medications to all aspects that affect health. As one of the key social determinants, health literacy has huge impact on health and well-being. Its influence is associated with disease prevention, healthy lifestyle promotion, policy making, etc. This essay will first discuss the concept of health literacy and the consequences that link to it, and then give a strategy—designing user-centred messages in education, to improve health literacy,
Human development can be described as the way a human body forms as the process of life begins. Along this process different kinds of mutations and diseases can occur, some may be natural and others self-afflicted (Sigelman & Rider). The area of human development I am focusing on is the time between conception and birth of a fetus, this is especially important because it is the making of a life (Sigelman & Rider). This time frame of nine months is called gestation. It is divided into three equal trimesters (Holt, Rinehart & Winston) This period of one’s life span occurs the fastest and has one of the most important environments (Sigelman & Rider).
I want to discuss the topic of physical development during middle adulthood. Physical development is the time when people become increasingly aware of the gradual changes in their bodies this marks the aging process. (Feldman, 2014) Life style choices such as smoking, diet, alcohol and exercise can have an effect on an individual’s physical development according to the text. There is also a height, weight, and strength changes. The changes are happening in a declining rate stated in the text. The senses also decline at this stage in life. As a people age, so does their bodies they go through biological changes. Women go through climacteric and menopause. Climacteric is the transaction from being able to have children to not having them. (Feldman,2014) Menopause is the period when women can no longer have children. (Feldman, 2014) The individual I chose to do my observation on is my aunt she is 49 years old. She is a stroke victim. She had

Health care has always been an interesting topic all over the world. Voltaire once said, “The art of medicine consists of amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.” It may seem like health care that nothing gets accomplished in different health care systems, but ultimately many trying to cures diseases and improve health care systems.
There are numerous public health problems that can be addressed in my Southside of Chicago community. Among the several public health problems facing my Southside of Chicago community there are two that are more urgent. Health education or one might say lack thereof is a problem that needs to be addressed. My community is plagued with many of the residents suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, and the killer virus known as HIV. In most cases these conditions can be prevented with healthier lifestyles and access to nutritious organic foods. In addition, environmental health is another urgent problem my community is facing. Access to clean, safe water and air is supposed to be a fundamental human right aimed at a healthy environment. Yet, my community consists a waste contaminated beach, numerous deteriorated building that are still occupied, and a countless number of restaurant and stores supplying our residents with services that are endangering their health.
Each person’s life consists of normal stages of development; this is known as life span development. This development starts at infancy and continues through death. In each stage of development, each person experiences four types of development; physical, cognitive, social, and personality.
