I think schools should not have a dress code because some kids want to come to school and feel comfortable in what they are wearing. So, come to school in something that will be in dress code. If you do have a dress code than it is usually girls that get dress coded! I think that the dress code should be less strict. Like for example, ripped jeans are in style and that is what most stores are selling so that is what girls they by. I know that there are some boys that like to by ripped jeans and usually don't get in trouble. I think it is hard to shop if you have a dress code. Lots of schools have a strict dress code and it is hard to go shopping. I would rather go to school with a less strict dress code because if there was a dress code that
Dress codes are essentials for all schools across America. Dress codes will set the tone for students to be safe because they will help reduce violence, increase student safety, and provide a positive learning environment.
Dress codes have been an issue lately in some schools. Most kids are against it but I believe that there should be dress codes in all schools. This would be a good idea because it would reduce violence and bullying, eliminate the problem of wearing hats or jackets and they are less expensive.
The Dress Code is also to help from distractions like weird, strange clothes, it often distracts the students from learning. Not only that, but in High School there is large groups of gangs, and they can’t wear clothing that represents them and wear anything offensive, because then less violence will occur.
Every year parents, students and teachers argue about the issue of applying school uniform, and if it is going to be put into effect or not. Each year, school dress code is being pushed away. Year after year, to help stop violent behavior and encourage order in schools, dress codes are applied. Does the fact of students having to wear a certain dress code reduce the violent behavior and encourage order in schools? (“The Controversial School Uniforms and School Dress Code Debate”, 2008). Research shows, that dress code policies may increase the chance of a child safety in school by a very low percentage, but that still affects the child in a positive way (“Do uniforms make schools better?”, 2004).
Bates, Laura. "How School Dress Codes Shame Girls and Perpetuate Rape Culture." Time. Time, 22 May 2015. Web. 18 Feb. 2016. In this article, Bates argues that today’s school dress codes are sexist and leave a lasting impression on young girls. Bates explains that there are several cases where girls are being punished for their adolescent bodies being distractions to boys. Also, it can teach a young girl that her body is dangerous and that a young boy automatically has the right to sexually diminish and harass adolescent girls in schools. This thought process is what causes a stigma later in college, declaring that when someone is sexually assaulted on campus, the person was asking for it. This can be detrimental to a young girl, and can even
I disagree with the school dress code because it doesn't allow people to express themselves, people can't dress for the weather, and it doesn't let people choose how they want to look because it's supposedly a distraction. The dress code is "The bottom of your shirt must at least meet the top of your pants or shorts, and undergarments should not be exposed. There must be a substantial covering over both shoulders. See-through clothing or clothing that is so very tight that it draws attention to oneself are also unacceptable. Shorts/skirts must have at least a 4" inseam."
Those are my reasons on how our dress code needs to be changed. The specific codes that need changed are shorts, tank tops, and the talk of banning leggings and yoga pants. I know each of these thing could distract boys but so could any other
Many schools have dress codes or uniforms, but in some situations the dress codes are tossed to the side and not worried about. However, dress codes should be implemented in schools for more than just safety reasons. Dress
Those are some of the reason how dress code could help public schools and why there should be dress code for public schools. Those are the three main reasons why schools should adopt dress code: one it will save families money and time, then teens will stop trying to impress their peers with what they wear and focus more on school because everyone will look similar, and will make a better school and better environment. Families will save money and time by buying polos and khakis. Teens will stop trying to impress peers by wearing similar clothing, and it makes a better school environment by lowering gang related actions and grades will improve because teen will put academics before fashion. So lets adopt dress code in public schools.
First of all, kids have their own style and when they have to go by a dress code it’s not expressing their style when they have to wear clothes that match a rule. With the dress code most kids don’t get to keep up with the new trends or
Every weekday morning during the school year, I wake up in order to get ready for school. I eat breakfast, board the bus, and hope my day will be a good one. Once I exit the bus and enter the school, I am unpleasantly greeted by girls hanging out of their shirts along with boys' behinds falling out of their pants. Immediately, my hopefulness evaporates and is replaced with disgust. As I get past those crude sights, I witness a fight due to one student bullying another based on the unfashionable and plain clothes he wears. My day that was supposed to be great has been disturbed again. I know that I am not the only person troubled by these almost daily sights. Therefore, in order to achieve a less distracting workplace and help eliminate violence, Perry Meridian High School (PMHS) needs to implement a stricter dress code.
As a teenager, clothing is a very large role in your life. After all, your style portrays your personality and the crowd that you hang out with. Most teens spend nearly all of their income on buying the next fashion. But today, teens have to second think their purchases for they may not be able to wear them at their school. Public schools have begun to crack down on the dress code, causing high school students to have to ditch half their wardrobe. The public school dress code is questionable in that is the wardrobe of students really affecting the way they learn and act, and are some of the codes really necessary.
Why should schools modify their dress code? All throughout the United States of America, schools have dress codes. Some dress codes have meaning full and low dress code rules, others have rules that make teens feel uncomfortable and get punished for. Daily, students are judged on how they dress. Dealing with a dress code takes time and effort for a teen to understand why they are being punished because they have the right to express themselves.
Dress codes in middle/high schools need to be changed to be made more reasonable. Dress code standards are set for girls to dress in ways that will not distract the boys from learning. For them to be dressed appropriately, they need to follow specific guidelines on what is acceptable and what is not. For example, how wide their shirt straps are or how long their shorts are. How is that fair to the girls? Is a boy’s education more important than a girl’s education? Should girls have to wake up every morning and worry about getting taken out of class, or missing class because she decided she was going to show her shoulder? The answer to all these questions is no.
We see stories Social media has more stories of girls being sent home because of dress code violations. Maybe the problem isn’t the students, but dress codes in general. Dress codes ultimately disrupt the pursuit of knowledge for the students, encourage gender bias, and can be dangerous. If we want the younger generations to succeed in the education system, we should utilize school uniforms. Uniforms in schools from elementary to high schools, will promote gender equality and facilitate student safety.
