My family and I arrived at the theme park, after being herded like cattle through the parking lot. In the parking garage the voices of children and families echoed off the walls. When we finally got to the gates I could hear the rollercoaster roaring down the tracks off in the distance. As we walked towards the first one we could all feel the sun beating directly down on us. The heat was so thick it was as if we were swimming through it. The people buzzed around me like a locust swarm out looking for food. I sat down in the seat of the Hulk rollercoaster and felt the sweat of the person before me cooling my back. A man quickly came up and snapped my seat belt on in a hurry and I could feel the ride start to rumble and jump forward slightly
When we left the hotel, my parents had a tough time finding the theme park. There were so many overpasses and lanes, my dad missed the exit a few times. Luckily, my dad finally got off at the right exit. When we first arrived, I was so excited. I had never seen so many seen so many people in one place, and the climate was very different compared to El Paso. I remember listening to the roars of the roller coasters and the screams of the people on them. We finally got into the park. As we entered, I remember it being very humid and moist. There were so many different smells coming from the restaurants.
Have you ever felt the rushing wind on your face while spiraling through the air? Well if so, then you have probably been on a roller coaster. This October was the first time that I have been on a roller coaster. Traveling with a group of friends, went to the Haunt Night at Worlds of Fun. It was quite an thrilling experience. There were zombies and goblins prowling around, waiting to give you a scare. When we were on our way I was nervous, but excited. As we all trudged up, Keeshawn, Paige, Makenna, Cooper, Katie, and I went to the first ride, The Patriot.
When we awoke the next morning, we got dressed and left the hotel headed towards Six Flags over Houston. My grandfather had bought us some coupons for the entrance fee so it would not cost as much. When we arrived, the air seemed very oppressive. The mood had already set itself to a very depressing day. We walked to the entrance and we found out that the coupons were no good. That did not stop us our parents paid the normal cost. We were finally at Six Flags.
The bus that took us to the Theme Park was huge, with room for a
A roller coaster demonstrates kinetic energy and potential energy. A marble at the top of the track has potential energy. When the marble rolls down the track, the potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy. Real roller coasters use a motor to pull cars up a hill at the beginning of the ride. Cars that are stopped at the top of the hill have potential energy. As the car rolls down the hill, the potential energy becomes kinetic energy
Introduction and Background Research Introduction Rollercoasters are the product of intense, terrifying and thrilling manipulation of physics. However, there are physical limits in the design of a rollercoaster to ensure safe function while maximising fun. These physical limits include: The mass of a rollercoaster, so that it can: Safely and satisfactorily complete the course Maintain exhilaration The loops in the track, so that the rollercoaster: Can safely travel the entire loop Prevent injury in riders through controlling the size of forces acted What are the Physics of Rollercoasters?
Everyone is aware of a roller coaster’s adrenaline causing effects, but not everyone is aware of the physics behind the mechanics of these rides. Roller coasters run on potential and kinetic energy. The purpose of the roller coaster’s initial ascent is to build up the potential energy, the energy stored up in an object, so when eventually there are drops in the ride the potential energy will be released as kinetic energy, the energy that propels one downwards. There are other forces that are at work including gravity, which is why most rides start with a very high initial ascent. Because of this ascent, the force of gravity will pull down at a greater distance. Roller coasters such as the
It was 98 degrees outside that day at Six Flags Over Texas. The sun was beating down on us. Waiting in a 45 minute line was the last thing I wanted to do. After receiving so much heat from the sun, we finally decide to get wet. We went on the Aquaman, and luckily the line was short. When I got off the ride, I felt better. My hair was wet and there was finally a cool breeze.
Even with a fear….a fear of roller coasters, one ride can change your whole day. Roller coasters originated from Russia as early as the 16th century. The first “roller coaster” was a 70 ft and was a wood framed ice slide, so it was somewhat fatal. It was a popular summer-time attraction, large wheeled carts would roll riders. This wasn’t the first commercially, successful roller coaster though, the first one was in Coney Island. In 1884 the Gravity Switchback Railway was a super hit, they had made six-hundred dollars in a day. Created by LaMarcus Adna Thompson, who was born in 1848 and died in 1919. Roller coasters were a common enthrallment...and still are to this very day.
As we left the ride to go to the next one, I looked around once again and notice that nothing has changed. The birds were still chirping and the bees were still looking for a flower to pollinate. There were kids still laughing and having the time of their lives. My brother and my cousins were still talking and having a good day. Everything was the same except for me I had changed. I was no longer excited. I was completely and utterly terrified or even talking about going on a new ride. I silently prayed that it would rain and they would shut down the park, but I knew that was far-fetched with the sky as bright as it currently
I was shaking nervously. I was going on a really scary ride called X-2 with my cousins. We were close to getting on the ride, no chickening out now, Heh. I was scared to death. Everybody looked happy and excited to go on the ride. And I was as pale as a ghost could ever be because We were going on the next ride.
With music blasting, voices singing and talking, it was another typical ride to school with my sister. Because of our belated departure, I went fast, too fast. We started down the first road to our destination. This road is about three miles long and filled with little hills. As we broke the top of one of the small, blind hills in the middle of the right lane was a dead deer. Without any thought, purely by instinct I pulled the wheel of the car to the left and back over to the right. No big deal but I was going fast. The car swerved back to the left, to the right, to the left. Each time I could feel the car scratching the earth with its side. My body jolted with the sporadic movements of the car. The car swerved to the right for the last time. With my eyes sealed tight, I could feel my body float off the seat of the car.
I was smacked in the face by a gust of hot, humid Texas air as I found my way off the bus. The once brisk morning was getting hotter by the second. My friend Kristi and I looked towards our left and there she was, the Norwegian Sea. The cruise liner that we would be on for the next week. It was the biggest ship I had ever seen up close. Ten stories high and nearly 1000 feet long. It had an intimidating presence that took one's breath away.
The second I stepped foot onto the amusement park’s property, I could feel the magic swirling all around me. As I walked through the crowds of people young and old wearing Disney apparel and Mickey Mouse ears, everything seemed so enchanting: the cheerful music, the twinkly lights on all of the buildings, and the stores that could have been from my favorite Disney movies. Walking along the streets, I took pictures of everything around me because I did not want to forget a single detail; I took pictures of the vibrant yellow, red, and pink flowers that lined the streets, the buildings with intricate details and designs, and the massive roller coasters that glided so swiftly on their tracks. The air was filled with heavenly scents of sweet churros, and I had to get one; it was delectable. Everything at Disneyland seemed perfect and like it was out of a movie. Even as I was about to leave, I got drawn back in; spectacular, bright, colorful fireworks started bursting right over my head, and I could not bring myself to go. My first visit to Disneyland was truly enchanting and magical. At the time I thought no other vacation could
When I heard my parents talking about going to Disney World I was so excited. It was a long trip down to Florida and I could not sit still, because I was so excited. We finally arrived that evening and decided to stay in a hotel near the theme park. When it was time for bed I could not go to sleep for a long time, because I was so excited about going at Disney world. When I saw the big mirror ball from the entrance, I was amazed. Disney world had a wide variety of rides. There were tons of rides that shocked me. Some of these rides made you feel like you were riding in a jet because of how fast they were. There was even a roller coaster ride in the huge mirror ball. It was a slow ride, but I still liked it because there was air conditioning inside the ball. We spent all day at the park until we had ridden everything. That night Disney World had a firework show. The fireworks seemed like they lasted forever with the amazing colors bursting in the air one right after another. When the firework show finally ended my parents told me that it was time to leave. I was...
