The weather looked a bit cloudy, threatening rain, but it was pleasantly warm. Near perfect conditions for a family visit to the Theme Park which had recently opened nearby. The TV ads promised a perfect day out and thrills galore, and the place looked so spectacular we just couldn't resist. The bus that took us to the Theme Park was huge, with room for a couple of hundred people on board. And not all crammed in like sardines either; everyone got a seat, there was plenty of leg room and air conditioning kept us all cool. We scythed through the traffic, and in no time at all arrived at our destination. A sign above the gate said Welcome to Mystique Park, Even I was excited, and my kids were buzzing. I bought the tickets - a bit steep for the whole family, but all the rides are free once you're in. The great metal gates swung open and in we swarmed, carried along by the enthusiasm of the crowd. And what a sight met our eyes! The place was fantastic! Rides galore, shops, souvenirs and all the facilities you could pos...
The word demolition means collisions and hitting two objects together while derby mean a race. These two words put together creates a competitive place for people to enjoy derby cars. Demolition derby drivers come from long family history of drivers. The pasion starts when they are old enough to walk, helping dad at the garage. He can remember their first demolition derby going forty miles per hour, smashing into another car and coming in third. From that moment on, he was hooked. From my experience and research, I know there is a lot of time and effort that goes into building the car, participating in the demo derby, and keeping a driver and spectators safe and these are the three areas of focus on in this paper.
Ever wondered how roller coasters work? It’s not with an engine! Roller coasters rely on a motorized chain and a series of phenomena to keep them going. Phenomena are situations or facts that have been observed and proven to exist. A few types of phenomena that help rollercoasters are gravity, kinetic and potential energy, and inertia. Gravity pulls roller coasters along the track as they’re going downhill. Potential and kinetic energy help rollercoasters to ascend hills and gain enough momentum to descend them and finish the track. Inertia keeps passengers pressed towards the outside of a loop-the-loop and in their seat. Gravity, potential and kinetic energy, and inertia are three types of phenomena that can be observed by watching roller
Every step it got bigger. I was building up excitement the whole way there! I can see it very clearly now. I was about two hours before the game started so they didn’t let us in yet. Outside, there were booths and trucks that had a lot of fan gear and football equipment.
Once we arrived at the gates, we queued for ten minutes before getting access to the park. We all hastily made our way to the main attraction of the pa...
Walt Disney has brought two theme parks to life because of his imagination. He never stopped chasing his dreams, even if they seemed impossible. Walt Disney World came after Disneyland and it is located in Florida. Disney World is known to be the "most magical place on earth" and the place "where dreams come true". Many people haven't been to the park, so they might be skeptical of the "magic" that is held within. Walt Disney World is the "most magical place on earth" because of the rides, characters, shows, the electrical parade, Wishes Nighttime Spectacular, and the infinitely growing attractions.
The aftermath of World War 1 had a major impact on U.S. politics, culture, and society. The nation was weak, and lacked motivation. Women achieved the right to vote, while blacks and other races were still subject to repression. After World War I, government agencies began to regulate industry production and agriculture as well as the transportation of materials such as fuel and farmed goods. Industrial facilities replaced precious lands, and America was on the road to industrial economic power. This economic action began to set the standard for American living based on mass consumption and now that World War 1 had ended, newly elected president Franklin Roosevelt was now focusing on problems closer to home.
The Taxi, by Amy Lowell, is an Imagist poem that relies heavily on imagery, rather than abstract ideas, to reveal meaning to the reader. The author uses free verse to allow the images and lines to speak for themselves and stand alone as individual lines. By doing so, each line offers its own tone and meaning, which then adds to the overall feel of the poem. Lowell wrote this poem to a love interest, clearly stating the meaning of the poem. She speaks as if the reader is the one being called after. The reader is entranced in her short poem filled with imagery to set the mood; the dire, last goodbye that seemed to separate the two forever. The poet's love for this person was also shown in her other works, and has made it very clear that there was a connection (Highleyman). This connection reveals the theme to be that she is lost without love. Before breaking the poem down into fragments for a line-by-line analysis, it can first be analyzed as a whole.
Everyone who has ever been to Disney World thinks it’s going to be the vacation of a lifetime but when we went it was the vacation from Hell!
When I was six years old, I hated car rides. To a six year old, a car ride was the epitome of boredom. There was nothing to do on a car ride except sit there for hours watching the trees. I would get carsick every single time I was in my mom’s Volvo. If I wasn’t sick or bored, I was waiting painfully in the backseat for the next exit ramp so my mom could turn off the road for a bathroom break. My mom would have to bribe me with candy or some other special treat just to get me in a car everyday. Some six year olds were afraid of monsters and doctor’s visits; I was afraid of the car. About ten years later something happened, a change. When I finally got my driver’s license at age sixteen, I was no longer afraid of the once dreaded car ride.
The celebration of the Carnival first began in Italy before the first day of the Lent season and was later brought to Brazil by Catholic Portuguese settlers in the 18th century. The origin of Carnivals may not be Brazilian, yet even today Brazil most embodies the Carnival celebrations and spirit. There are many small festivals held throughout the year, but few claim to compare to the annual “Carnaval” in Rio de Janeiro. The celebration is only a small part of the year, but its influence on the community remains for the whole year. Carnaval is considered a time when socio-economic status disappears and communities come together. However, Carnaval also strongly impacts Brazil by providing space for individuality and celebrating individual characteristics. Indeed, Carnaval has become an opportunity for small revolts and protests by the people usually against the government. Brazilians who aren’t satisfied with social standards or laws will speak up and use Carnaval as their platform for protest. The celebration creates an atmosphere of trust and community in which people feel comfortable voicing their opinions. It has been used for feminist movements, gay right movements, as well as others. Not only is it beneficial to marginalized groups who find the opportunity to voice their frustration, Carnaval is used as an opportunity to forget and move past the brutality of life. Whether it’s death or unemployment, Carnaval activities focus on the positive aspects of life and don’t tend to dwell on the past. Brazil has become one of the happiest emerging nations because of the Carnaval. Although Carnaval appears to consist of mainly outrageous parties, it represents much more than that. Carnaval provides a public forum to ce...
I have this fear that causes my body to shake. When I think about it, my skin becomes pale and cold. It’s death speeding through my mind. Once I have seen these monstrous roller coasters, the only thing in my mind was fear. Knowing that I’m afraid to go on these rides, I didn’t want to look like a fool in front of my friends. My mind is thinking of deadly thoughts. My palms were sweaty and I was twitching like a fish. I was petrified of heights.
Upon his return, Blake told me all about his trip, from the special meet and greet with all of the Disney characters to every ride he went on while he was
Eren watched the retreating backs of his two best friends as they walked on ahead chatting animatedly with each other as if they haven’t wronged him in any way. How could they betray him like this? Mikasa must’ve noticed her brother’s grumbling behind her because she stopped and pressed her finger into his forehead without him realizing. The jolt surprised him and anger overtook surprise in a matter of seconds.
