There are 7.442 billion people who are on this earth as of 2018, plus technology is enhancing at a very high rate, so it is not so hard to replace something or someone. Replacing something or someone is always intended to be a step forward for themselves, either keeping up with a new trend or upgrading a certain device. People just have to search towards the right direction that can lead them to what they are in need of to replace what needs to get rid of. Ex CEO Dan is replaced with a new robot which is a simpler form of an employee which makes it easier for the company giving that an object has less flaws than a human. There are visual aides in the short story to display the success the new CEO, Rob-X164 can bring to the company in the future. The company shows a GIF that shows “a smiling baby perpetually surfing through waves and waves of cash.” (Cofer, paragraph 3). The reader can visualize how the robot will bring the same energy and replicate what the baby has, loads of cash. That implies that Rob-X164 is an improvement for the company and helps out a large amount. In the same fashion, the visual aides help the reader understand the new achievements the company will gain with Rob-X164 being the new CEO. Something’s can perform task just as excelling as humans. The members of the company believe that Dan’s “self-worth can be managed by a shiny, metallic exterior.” (Cofer, paragraph 4). Even an object with a metal body can do a job more prominent than someone else, the reader can visualize the qualities of Rob-X164.
