Resilient teams are based on mutual trust, social norms, participation and social networks. Resilient teams are most likely to be productive and high performing teams. Comcare (2008) identified that a balanced work ensure a safe, healthy and productive manner over time, that is, a balanced effort and recovery (including the rest, exercise and adequate nutrition) is important to the maintenance of resilience.
As a matter of fact, statistics about casual factors of accidents and incidents in complex work places absolutely show the human contribution not as a lack of skill, but as miscommunication, inattention, physical and mental work load, poor situation awareness, bad decision making, ineffective action planning, inability to deal with stress, emotional load, and organizational dysfunctions (Reason, 1990; Dekker, 2005). All these elements have generically been classified as “human error” and could be due to lack of organizational well being. When it comes to safety most people think they are safe, and they have a true understanding on how to work safe. Human nature prevents us from harming ourselves. Our instincts help protect us from harm. Yet everyday there are injuries and deaths across the world due to being unsafe. What causes people to work unsafe is one of the main challenges that face all Safety Managers across the world.
Resilience is having the motive to go through hard times and ‘bounce back’ from them and learnt how to deal with certain situations. To be resilient you must have a positive point of view on life. Anh’s book ‘The happiest refugee’ He was born into a 1970’s Vietnam, He and his family were forced to leave their country due to seeking safety and freedom from war. Anh uses resilience through his comedic, selfless actions. Resilience has allowed Anh to improve the quality of his life, and the lives of those around him.
Some effort have been made in order to measure the level of resilience. Several model has been generated as a result. In this paper there are only three model that will be discussed. That are PEOPLE model, Cutters model and Torrens model.

When I am asked to make meaning of my life, the biggest recurring theme is my resounding resiliency. I am sure of myself. I have unwavering hope, optimism, and trust in myself. Often, this shocks those who are just getting to know me. Others are not shy to call me naïve. People are normally quite curious as to where this aspect of my personality came from. I believe my resiliency is the result of personal growth through adverse, and dire conditions in my childhood.
Having a positive attitude is important when it comes to being resilient, as in order not to dwell on difficult situations a person must look at the brighter side of things, and remain positive even if they face difficulties that make them angry or sad. Being optimistic is also a positive factor in being resilient, as optimism ensures that the person is hopeful for the future and wants to look forward rather than back into negative past experiences. The ability to regulate emotions allows a person to get in touch with their emotions and to know what triggers different emotions and why, this is important in being resilient as if the person can regulate their emotions they can then move forward and not let their emotions get in the way of their everyday life. The ability to see failure as a form of helpful feedback rather than a negative aspect, is an obvious feature in a person who is resilient, as to be resilient you would have to learn from your mistakes rather than dwell on them. If a team member gets hurt in a car accident or begins their planned vacation, can the team still meet its’ goals and objectives or is there trouble looming ahead? A Team who develops into a cross-functional team, a group of people with different functional expertise working towards the same goal, does not have to worry about situations like these. Cross-functional teams have learned the concepts and have taken the necessary steps to allow their team to be successful even when situations like these arise. Teams who want to transform into cross-functional teams need to be willing to make sacrifices, share knowledge, and put forth more effort than what their job normally requires. They will need to use open team communication to generate the goals, the objectives, and the requirements that is expected of their team. In addition, they should have the willingness to create processes, rearrange existing processes, and implement new tools to help them achieve workstations in which any of their team members can produce the desired results. Teams who possess team members who are willing to share information and put forth additional effort, have a clear understanding of the requirements of their team, and possess team members who use forethought to create and improve existing processes can effectively generate and model a successful cross-functional working team.

In my perspective, three out of the 10 different ways to build resilience are more important: Make connections, avoid seeing crises as insurmountable problems, and accept that change is part of living.
