About 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year, 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Animal cruelty is defined as inflicting pain or harm upon animals. Some people think that horse racing, dogfighting, and circuses cause animal to suffer in the name of entertainment. Other people believe there is nothing wrong with using animals for entertainment purposes as long as the animals are treated humanely. My opinion of animal abuse is my own opinion. It's not really for animals to get abused, they have feeling too. Why do people just leave their pets alone without food or water? Why do people hurt their pets and leave them to die when they are hurt? I don't really understand why people even dare to get a pet if they´re not even going to take care of their pet. I don't think hunting is animal abuse, but when people just leave their pets without food or water or hurting them then animal abuse is a problem. Some people think that animal abuse is not a problem and some people do think it is a problem. I think that animal abuse is a problem, it is rude and sad that someone would hurt a cute little puppy or kitten. You can pay attention to your surroundings and watch and see if you notice if an animal is getting abused. Another thing you can do is report the animal abuse if you see an animal getting abused or you think that an animal is getting abused. I have to understand the law society has begun to recognize animal abuse as part of the cycle of violence and is calling for stronger penalties against abusers and more powerful enforcement capabilities.
