Information about the topic. Animal abuse. Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse or animal neglect, is the human infliction of suffering or harm upon non-human animals, for purposes other than self-defense or survival. More narrowly, it can be harm for specific gain, such as killing animals for food or for their fur, although opinions differ with respect to the method of slaughter. Types of animal cruelty. Domestic cruelty: Leave your pet in the outside (suffering from cold, sun and rain) Do not leaving them food (forget them at least once a day to eat) Do not leaving them water (no check at least once a day if you have fresh, clean water) Neglect their health (not taking them to the veterinarian when they get sick or vaccine them), their welfare (not make any case) or environment (not clean the place where they eat or live). This also includes the abandonment in their own house or in the street.. In the warfare: Animals in warfare are creatures that have been used by human beings for war. There are specific applications for animals, such as: Heavy work (carrying things), adversities against the enemy, validating guns with them or even living-animal bombs. Entertainment There are many ways to damage animals for people entertainment such as: Bullfights Cockfights (animals) Dogfights (Mott, 2004) Recreational and commercial hunting TV shows Movies Scientific research: • Monkeys and rabbits are compulsories to smoke until they die of lung cancer • For releasing new medical treatments, some animals are submitted to electric shocks in order to prove the treatment. • Animals like pigs are used in the embellishing experiments.
