Research Methodology
4.1 Meaning of Research
The word research is composed of two syllables, re and search. ‘re’ is a prefix meaning again, a new or over again. ‘Search’ is a verb meaning to examine closely and carefully, to test or try. Research is a structured enquiry that utilizes acceptable scientific methodology to solve problems and create new knowledge that is generally applicable [43].
Steps in research process:
1. Formulating the Research Problem
2. Extensive Literature Survey
3. Developing the objectives
4. Preparing the Research Design including Sample Design
5. Collecting the Data
6. Analysis of Data
7. Generalization and Interpretation
8. Preparation of the Report or Presentation of Result-Formal write ups of conclusions reached.
4.1.1 Research Methodology
Research methodology is a systematic way to solve a problem. It is a science of studying how research is to be carried out. Essentially, the procedures by

Here we find the economic perspective and engineering perspectives to solve the problem and techniques. It is mostly done for large problems to estimate the complexity and scope to solve the problem.
5. Comparative Studies
If two techniques need to be verified which is the best out of them a comparative study is done on features basis and type of research methods. It is quite useful method before launching a research.
6. Literature Survey Method
This method gives us understanding between what is known and what is still open. This is most useful method of research to explore others first and create a checklist of facts agreed and disagreed based on researcher knowledge.
4.1.2 Research Methodology Used:
In this dissertation the research methodology used is Experiments based Comparative Study. A comparative study has been done by implementing the web performance testing tools.
4.2 Web Application Performance Testing
My research question was, what jazz techniques did Sidney Bechet use and how can I use these to compose my own clarinet piece? There were different research processes used to find the answer to my question and they were: the internet, books, an interview, videos and music. These processes were useful to me as the information was accessed easily and effectively. Each process was used to find a different aspect of my research and allowed me to discover different angles and opinions on the topic. Using books, interviews and videos were new research processes for me and I discovered that they are very useful when conducting the research for this topic.
For everything that occurs, there will somehow be something that caused the action to happen. It is more of a cause and effect ideal or simple a reaction to an action. In terms of research academics, independent and dependent variables are concepts or attributes to certain things that occur such as drug use, crime, or domestic abuse. For example, stress or other personal problems may lead to someone to use drugs. Also, poverty may lead someone to commit crime. In addition, a power controlled individual may cause a partnership to suffer physical or verbal abuse.
Research methodology, is an understanding of the different approaches used to conduct research. Within research methodology validity and reliability are important. The reason, researchers need to understand the methodology, before research is conducted is to ensure that they are using them correctly and ethically and also understand the key concept
research. There are certain features that are in common between the techniques and certain that
Research refers to search for knowledge. It is a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information on a particular topic. In another words, it's a careful investigation or inquiry especially through search for new facts in any branch of knowledge. The Research Process Research is regarded as a cyclical process that generally involves the stages shown in the diagram on the following page. [IMAGE] Stage 1: Define the research problem Select a topic for the research.
A research design incorporates different elements of analysis with the most logical method. There are many different approaches to a research study, and the appropriate course depends on the nature of the research. The design is the blueprint to the overall structure on how the method is applied. The method describes the techniques used to conduct the research. Knowing the data that the study should collect is fundamental in determining how the investigation is executed.
In this paper, I will define quantitative and qualitative research methods and provide examples in the context of social issues which will hopefully provide insight into how this methods are properly applied.
Based on the concept of conducting literature review, it should concisely to abstract the sources or finding that existence from the prior research. Besides that, it should be proposed or concluded with trustable evidence. It also should judge the research based on what is the right, what is the wrong, what is uncertain or even what is missing from the original literature. (Knopf, 2006; Zorn & Campbell; 2006)
Research is systematic way to find out facts and knowledge as Kothari (2006) has analyzed that research is the pursuit of truth with the help of study, observation, comparison and experiment; the search for knowledge through objective and systematic method of finding solutions to a problem. However there are two types of researches one is by Purpose and other is by method. The type by purpose falls into three categorize such as Basic, Applied and Action Research.
Defining the research methodology to be used is fundamental for the researcher, since it guides and allows the most appropriate strategy planning to reach the objectives of the dissertation project. The research methodology can be seen as a set of multiple layers (Figure 9), starting with the research philosophies, followed by approaches, strategies, choices, time horizons, and techniques and procedures. Philosophies According to the authors, practical considerations influence the philosophy to adopt, therefore the philosophy adopted impacts the choices of internal layers.
The word research emanates from the French word researcher meaning to search. The Merriam –Webster dictionary defines research as ‘studious inquiry or examination or investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation of facts or revision of accepted theories. It further defines it as’ a careful study for the purpose of discovering and explaining newly found knowledge. Also, some people view it as a movement from known to unknown. It is described as a continuous voyage of discovery, these is where inquisitiveness of a person to probe and attain fuller understanding of unknown forms to the main impetus.
Research is an attempt to know new things, facts, information etc. in a scientific manner. L.V Redman and A.V .H Mory have stated “systematised effort to gain knowledge we call re-search.” The main function of research is to collect new facts, information etc and to establish new theories on the basis of these facts.
Research which is also known as the search for knowledge is an art of scientific search for specific information. According to Clifford Woody, the research includes defining and redefining problems, formulating hypothesis and suggested solutions, collecting, organising and evaluating data, making deductions and reaching conclusion and further testing whether the conclusion will fit into formulating hypothesis. Research Methodology is a scientific and systematic way of finding solution to a problem. In this research, researcher has studied various steps for research like problem along with the logic behind them. For this study, researcher must know various research techniques like mean, mode,
The Importance and Appropriateness of Utilizing Different Methodologies for Research. Introduction The process of research entails the logical as well as systematic search for useful data and information with regard to a specific topic (Jha, 2008). It is also comprised of the investigation of the best, most cost effective and appropriate solutions to both social and scientific issues, following an objective and logical analysis. Jha (2008) defines research as the search for knowledge and the discovery of the truth.
Defining the research problem (questions) is the first step in the research process. This means to define the problem to be researched and what we want to find out. It is also important to determine whether it starts from some existing theories or hypotheses. The research is conducted to prove whether or not these assumptions are true.
