Research methodology should be understood as a whole, consisting of tools, methods of collecting, interpreting and analysing the data collected. These include:
1. Define the research problem and formulate the hypotheses
2. Research methods and reasons of chosen them for research purpose
3. Sources of data
4. Data collection methods
5. Data interpretation methods and writing the report
To achieve the research objectives the process of research must be carried out by certain principles and to use appropriate methods. It is very important that the methods used to obtain the desired results, and this starts to clearly define the objectives and what we need to know, and also by choosing the methods and tools to help us and to ease the process. (Kumar, 2008)
Every research study should describe the methods used for collecting, analysing and interpreting data. Research methodology is a systematic solving of the research problem and includes all the tools and methods used in the research process.
1.2.1 Define the research problem and formulate the hypotheses
Defining the research problem (questions) is the first step in the research process. This means to define the problem to be researched and what we want to find out. It is also important to determine whether it starts from some existing theories or hypotheses. The research is conducted to prove whether or not these assumptions are true.
1.2.2 Research methods and reasons of chosen them for research purpose
After establishing the research problem and what results are wanted, it will define how it will find the answers. Research is a form of collection and interpretation of information that will form the basis of finding answers to questions. The research uses theories and methods that h...

Social Media Research Study
Milions of people around the world with access to the Internet are members of one or more social networks. To find out the reasons behind the fascination for social media and the effects it has on people and their families it has be done an research study.
For this research study I intend to use a descriptive research method. The survey method, as a descriptive method, is suitable to find out the perception of people about the advantages and risks of Social Media. The participants will answer questions administered through questionnaire. A Likert Scale is used to measure their answers, which is very easy to interpret. The questions will be very careful formulated in order to collect reliable and valid answers. After collecting will be done qualitative and also quantitative interpretation of results.
There are two types of research that can be conducted in research studies, these are qualitative and quantitative (Newman, 2011). Qualitative research is a process that uses detailed oriented methodology that tries to achieve a profound knowledge or understanding of specific incident and circumstance, wh...
As indicated, research requires a process in order to collect data and analyze the data to come to a correct conclusion. Quantitative research is different from the qualitative research as researched above. Quantitative research focuses on amounts or quantities of one or multiple variables (Leedy, & Ormrod, 2010). To further explain, Fischler (2010) states, “a type of educational research in which the researcher decides what to study; asks specific, narrow questions; collects quantifiable data from participants; analyzes these numbers using statistics; and conducts the inquiry in an unbiased, objective manner” (p. 12). In order to utilize this philosophy, the problem needs to be clearly identified, data needs to be collected and analyzed in order to come to a solid evaluation or conclusion.
The term methodology refers to the way in which we approach problems and try to find answers and in social science, it applies to how research is conducted, our assumptions, interest and purposes shape which methodology we choose (Steven, 2016:3).Qualitative research is understanding people from their own perspectives, their viewpoint and experiencing reality as they experience it. Qualitative research has many approaches or methods of collecting data and one of them is an interview which I have chosen to explain further based on it as a method of collecting data. The interview is the most common method of data gathering used in qualitative research and it is used in deferent ways by every main theoretical and methodological approach.
A research design incorporates different elements of analysis with the most logical method. There are many different approaches to a research study, and the appropriate course depends on the nature of the research. The design is the blueprint to the overall structure on how the method is applied. The method describes the techniques used to conduct the research. Knowing the data that the study should collect is fundamental in determining how the investigation is executed.
In the last 50 years the internet’s influence has grown exponentially with the advance of technology. In communications revolutions, first there was the telegraph, then the radio, the newspaper, magazines, television and now the internet. We live in a society that depends on information and communication to keep moving in the right direction and do our daily activities like work, health care, education, personal relationships, and anything else that we have to do. What we need to be aware is that most of our decisions, beliefs and values are based on what we know for a fact; our assumptions and our own experience. In our work we usually know what we have to do based on our experience and studies, however in our daily lives we rely on the media to get the current news and facts about what is important and what we should be aware of. What effect does the social media have on people? Is the social media bringing convenience to people? Nowadays, social media and technology have become a necessary part of almost any field. There are not many activities that are not affected by it. It affects health, education, communication and so on. All they show us that importance and threats of social media, we need to treat it properly. (maybe end the thesis with this instead - “Despite the positive effects of internet technology however, there are dangers if we don’t use it properly and productively.”)
Research can be classed into three perspectives; 1. Application of Research, 2. Objectives in Undertaking Research and 3. Inquiry Mode (Patton : 2002). Regarding the application of research, for the purposes of this paper, Applied Research has been conducted as opposed to Pure Research. Since the nature of the overall study is to be able to take and apply the principles discovered from the research for future benefit, applied research is more suitable. Pure research tends to revolve ...
Methodology is the first step of any kind of research. It helps to know what we need to do and what not to do. A research problem is said to be some kind of trouble a researcher experiences may it be theoretical or practical and tries to find out the solution for the same. There are two main ways to collect data, which is, primary and secondary.
Research, is a process of building up a new concept or testing an existing theory (Cohen et al, 2000). Sikes (2003) adds that research is a method of investigating something intensively, carefully, closely and critically in order to discover a new theory or to confirm or reject previous assumptions.
Research is systematic way to find out facts and knowledge as Kothari (2006) has analyzed that research is the pursuit of truth with the help of study, observation, comparison and experiment; the search for knowledge through objective and systematic method of finding solutions to a problem. However there are two types of researches one is by Purpose and other is by method. The type by purpose falls into three categorize such as Basic, Applied and Action Research.
Social Media has evolved magnificently since the first email sent in 1971. Social media is any form of website or application which enables us to share content with one another with a simple sharing tool. Social media has become an addiction for most, if you were to ask the average student if they were connected to a social networking site, about 73 percent would reply with a yes. In addition, about 63 percent of people log on to a social media site daily and on average 40 percent log on multiple times a day. Everyone has their own reasons for the use of social media, which could include shopping, research, or other personal reasons like venting and status updates.
The aim of this study is to determine whether social media in mobile phones has an effect on the way that individuals function in society in order to reach this, the following objectives that are set:
Doing a research project is a significant part of many undergraduate degree courses in universities worldwide (Robson, 2014). Therefore, to write an interesting and quality research project, learners ought to understand the fundamental principles of research like qualitative/quantitative methodologies and primary/secondary research. This essay will analyze each of these fundamentals definition, examples, disadvantages and advantages.

The Importance and Appropriateness of Utilizing Different Methodologies for Research. Introduction The process of research entails the logical as well as systematic search for useful data and information with regard to a specific topic (Jha, 2008). It is also comprised of the investigation of the best, most cost effective and appropriate solutions to both social and scientific issues, following an objective and logical analysis. Jha (2008) defines research as the search for knowledge and the discovery of the truth.
In addition, social media changed the way of living and the working level of many people like organizing vacations and researching for school and university projects. With attributes that may affect the way people interact online, social media open a new ways for many newspapers, magazines to publish their issues online to promote their ideas quickly and to let the people in contact with their news and to make more productivity and make more money.
