Individual Reflective Report In this report, I will be describing my role in helping the team meet its goal by identifying HR issues the Line managers would need to consider and outlining an action plan to discuss these matters. I will also give evidence of my contribution to the team work and how I assisted in the completion of the team goals. I ruminate the persuasiveness of our argument was respectable as we covered the main points of Sunny Communication case study, to implement a tactical action plan for the line manager to overcome the issues presented in case study. Plus in the presentation, we all guaranteed that each point spoken on was fully evaluated and when necessary evidence was provided to support our claims. I believe our group effectively achieved the overall goal by successfully completing the assignment by the deadline. Although we didn’t encounter any conflicts due to different personality, culture or background, they all aroused from different matters. For instance as this was the second time we were all working together as a group with a new member. We had t...
The company Steel Co, which has been established for around 30 years, has been in a steady decline during the current recession and although a Divisional Director has been employed by the owner the fortunes of the company have not improved. The staff is unhappy, unproductive and unimpressed by the Human Resource system that currently exists in the company. The pay structure that currently exists within the organisation has been much debated among employees who feel it is unsatisfactory. The Business Adviser will research Performance and Reward management tools in order to help the company develop a more suitable Performance and Reward system to use. A variety of sources will be used in order to evaluate the system and tools against other organisational frameworks. The pay structure within the company will also be looked at in order to identify any possible changes that could be made.
This summary report will provide an overview of the decisions we made as a team, the strategies we used and an evaluation of the final results. This report will also reflect on the learnings on how to successfully manage an organization.
I still remembered that when we directed for the first meeting everyone was very enthusiastic and really keened to do it sooner. It was a successful meeting. Unfortunately, I had to let my friend knew that I would be late for fifteen minutes. It was reasonable because on the same day and almost on the same time I had to report my arrival to Indonesian consulate, which was holding a meeting at Flinders University. Back to our group meeting, I was really happy that everyone was very punctual. Moreover, we held a very fascinating discussion about our topic and everyone was contributing his or her idea to t...
The “Winter Survival Exercise” activity was a great experience that effectively brought out every individuals unique personality, perceptions, and attitudes. The exercise relied on individuals to modify certain beliefs and opinions to contribute towards the team process. Individuals like me who are very self-reliant needed to open up more to others ideas for the team part of the exercise to work. I would say that my group worked in a very organized and collected manner. However, there were differences in opinions when it came to certain subjects. The decision-making skills, personality factors, and communication skill differences in my group resulted in some variances of opinions. Though the group faced disagreements because of the uniqueness of each member, we were able to compromise and bend our own individual processes for the betterment of the team. The Winter Survival Exercise confirmed my perception that working individually tends to result in better performance. My overall individual score which was “22” was much lower then that of the group which was “44”. The exercise proved that working in a group does not always result in better performance.
The first assignment required the group to work together to produce an interview type scenario for someone applying to become a learning mentor, this meant everyone had to work together as an equal part of the team with the aim of producing a high quality piece of work. This however was more difficult than it first appeared, with contact being limited and members of the group arriving to meetings late, this may have been because no one individual was set a specific role except for the final interview, this meant there was no ‘gate-keeping’ meaning no one was ensuring everyone was participating equally, meaning many people were promising to produce information and not providing it, this among other things includes myself (Jaques, 2008). Due to the difficulty with contact, organising time to meet and produce our work became a difficulty, so when we finally started meeting regularly there was a strong sense of urgency due to the limited face to face time we had, affecting our work as result, if we had started meeting sooner we may have found it easier and less stressful researching and producing the results. Another issue with contact was the online forum that was put in place to show our work, though this helped a little with archiving information, it did cast an unreliable balance on what was happening, the consensus on the forum by some was it was very easy to be portrayed as not participating enough, regardless of the input on the final product. Deeper discussion and reflection between each group mem...
... situations happened because of no preparation of group members, no real leader, unclear communication and task and relationship conflicts.
During our recent group presentations, we covered negotiation, building teams, working in groups, managing conflict, effective meetings, facilitating team success, managing decisions and solving problems creatively (De Janasz, Wood, Gottschalk, Dowd, Schneider. 2006, pg 196-314). Our team was given working in teams for success as a presentation topic. I believe we not only clarified the topic but managed to use the content to our own benefit and produce a successful presentation. This essay highlights our ability to work co-operatively in a team, initiate a successful presentation, and reveal what we can do next time to improve our work techniques.
To clarify desired practices of HR work and roles within the organization (HR Department, Line Managers).
I had expectations of our group, as well as the other members, I hoped that everyone would work hard and contribute to the assignment equally. We tried to keep everything fair by dividing the sections of the essay, so that everyone was contributing and not just one person completing all the work by themselves.
During this stage are we pooled our individual thoughts and expectations together. We discovered that we were all in agreement on how the project should be executed. Discussions concerning the project went smoothly after this point and more progress was made. In this stage I discovered that I had a higher degree of cohesiveness with Mandy than with other group members. This could be due to the fact that Mandy and I were the only female members in the group. It could also be due to the fact that Mandy was the group “leader” and I looked to her for information on group meetings.

Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
Reflection is mainly meant for three purposes including the assessment of level of understanding related to specific knowledge, to attain self-awareness and to evaluate the performance of the action. Reflective essay is the overall workplace experience of my placement that I have completed it in OCNMO. This essay provide an outline of the work I have completed in OCNMO and how I workout to attain success for the project work. Besides, for the development and improvement of my interpersonal skills I have to reflect my placement experience that occurred in my workplace organisation. 14 weeks was allocated for the work placement and it starts on 27th of July 2015.
Thus, I put in as much work as possible, knowing that this will be one of the first grades of semester two, into the project. In addition, the group effort was superb; everybody finished their tasks well and on time. To the team, I led our members and instructed each person for what they had to accomplish; the notes were formatted and finalized by me. Like the others, I typed a quarter of the notes and edited the entire paper. Furthermore, I prepared my entire team by printing out the script prior to presentation day and told each person what to do. Lastly, the matrix was done with detail, but not all boxes are equally detailed. The reason being was because teams who were clearer gave me a greater understanding of their case and goals. Next, my project was complete and finished prior to the due date, and I was able to finish the project due to the hard work of my team. Every individual participated and did not slack off. Therefore, we were able to be successful in being efficient. As a result of the completion of the project, I feel great and proud of the hard work of my team because each of us cared about the project. The assignment took one week in total to complete, and we worked almost every day of that time period-including our weekends. Thus, I am proud due to the time and effort we put into the
Overall, I was very happy with my group’s performance in group work and in the final presentation. We worked very well together and I could see we all listened to each other when we presented any ideas whether it was good or bad. I was also quite happy with my own performance. I know I worked well in what I could and contributed as much as I could. I think I could have improved by speaking more and being more clear with my ideas. I found I was very quiet when my group members were talking a lot however I made up for it by being sensitive to the actual map models and working hard to complete them. This experience has been very rewarding as I got to experience university group work outside a classroom environment.
