The college fair at Delta College is a way for students to know more about other universities from other cities. There are booths with different colleges and universities giving away information about their college. They give away materials such as pens and flags. They also give brochure and magazines that contains all the information and majors in that school.
In my opinion, there are pros and cons to going to this event. One pro is that it gives me a chance to see others colleges right where I live and learn more about it without having to check online or visiting the campus. Another pro is that they were giving away materials. I received about six pens and a few notebooks. This influenced me to go to other booths. A con is that it takes away some of my time. When I went to this event, I was just looking around. I was not interested in learning more about other campuses since I have a list of schools I already want to apply to.
One thing that I learned from this event is that Delta College has an architecture and interior designing programs where they teach how to do floor layouts and decorating houses. I am interested in that, however, I did not know Delta had a program like that. A second thing that I learned is that a few of the colleges I did not know about has my major that I am interested in for a cheaper price. My major is biology

and my alternative major is engineering. I found out that University of the Pacific has a pre-medicine program which is something that I did not know. I always thought it was just a school for pharmacy, but it is more than that. I also thought that UOP is an expensive school because it is private. However, I learned that more than 83 percent of students receive financial aid. The average package is more than $88,000 over four years. This makes me feel better about this school because now I would not have to worry about spending all the money I have. I could look into financial aid. This college event is worth attending because it gives people a chance to learn about other colleges without having to visit the campus.
Even though some of the colleges may not be a choice for some people, it gives them an idea what type of school it is. I did not want to apply to UOP because it was here in Stockton. After going to this event and learning about the major programs and price while living at home, I thought it would be a good idea to apply to this college. Even if someone is not having a good time or they think it is a waste of time, they can get supplies such as stylus pens which is an amazing give to
get.
Hi folks, thanks for the response to my previous blog. However, my slothful ways have caught up to me and I need to complete this blog that’s become a few weeks overdue for the Minnesota State Fair. Although, I enjoyed my time at the Minnesota State Fair, although being worn down and tired of hordes of people, I decided not to travel to the Renaissance Fair the following day. However, The Minnesota State Fair was delightful and was able to partake in the music, the culture, and the delicious food. Although my dental regimen was not on par for the toothache that started after eating those sweet delectable cookies. I will explain later in the blog, certainly read further on a few tips for the 2016 Minnesota State Fair.
Throughout my high school, Wilson High School, various events and activities occur to encourage college. For example, in my AP English Language and Literature class, we were
Unit 1 taught me to focus on each step in the writing process. Approaching the task
I have decided to apply to the UNCW Honors College because I believe that it will help further enhance my education. I believe that I will be pushed and encouraged to do my best in not only in academics but in my future endeavors as I search for a career as well.
In conclusion, I was fortunate enough to understand many important things in life. One of those things is that we do not always begin at the desired start line, but through effort and strong will we can arrive at the desired finish line, where the outcome of our plans and goals reside. In my pursuit of education, I faced many challenges and hardships, but I always viewed them as temporary setbacks not as a finish line. I am certain that an opportunity to study at the UW would help me reach my finish line.
I was presented with this trip because of my work with the youth violence prevention initiative over the summer. This trip allowed me to hear from students all over the United States. While attending I had the privilege to network and join a new organization. The trip was a week long, it basically was a learning experience for me. I was able to see that my community wasn’t the only one to face problems with education or
After attending my summer orientation, I started to adjust to the idea of college life a little bit more. I met new people, got to know a new area, and overall became more acquainted with the life I would be living for the next couple of years. Overall, orientation made college a reality for me.
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the time restraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I have. Strangely enough, I?ve found the college English experience to be much more rewarding and enjoyable than in high school.
I want to list some of the positive and negative things about the event that I attended. The positives would be that I did not have to use an interpreter to communicate with anyone, everyone knew sign language and it was a bit awkward because like I said, I am used to having that communication barrier in my world, so it was fun and I felt so much more independent; I even started asking everyone for more information on their stuff that they 're marketing or where things were because usually in the hearing world, I would just say nothing and hope that things will reveal themselves to me. Almost everyone were very friendly and shared their life experiences with me, making me feel like I 'm part of the family and it was hard for me to do the same since I 've raised not to really share anything and just to listen to what everyone 's saying and say nothing to contribute anyways. That also made me realize that my deafness does not have a big D, because I 've been taught to think and act like a hearing person, so it 's definitely hard for me to connect with deaf people. The negatives would have to be that it was hard for me to see what the person on the stage is signing because I don
During high school social events like pep rallies, prom and homecoming are held to allow students to interact with peers and just enjoy themselves during their high school career. The same is with college, there are social events all throughout semesters to allow students to engage in activities and participate around campus while meeting new people. In high school and college both social activities are important because it allows all students to interact and get involved especially first-year students.
The cultural event that I attended was the Paseo First Friday Art Walk. I chose this event opposed to others because of the unique environment. This was located in downtown Oklahoma City as a strip mall known as The Paseo Arts District. There were art galleries, art demonstrations, live music, pottery, and food. This was all very fascinating to me and I enjoyed my time there.
Through the UNCW involvement carnival I learned about different community groups, I became interested in new clubs, and I was able to get tones of free stuff. Community is important in the life of every individual. It is important to become a part of something bigger than your self. While at the involvement carnival I got to talk with a group of people from the Scotts Hill Baptist Church student ministry. Every week there is a program called Echoloud for college
While I attended many different campus events, I learned what I am interested in on campus and what I am not interested in at all. Two uninteresting events I attended at QU was an
I never liked college fairs. College fairs are massive, loud, and I hate walking around a hot room that smells of fresh dirty socks, going from one college representative to another, and not having time to organize the thought of one conversation before starting another. Usually, I end up on email chains from more colleges than I could ever consider, and a headache that lasts for days from trying to sort through the information I gathered from the conversations with each of the college representatives. However, the college fair my school had, during my Junior year, gave me something unique, something that I am truly grateful for that has and will teach me irreplaceable life and professional skills. There were over 40 colleges, universities
However, accomplishments and achievements aside, college festivals are about living in the moment, enjoying yourself, and creating effects that will endure long after college days. The culmination of any successful event such as this is always bittersweet, you are happy for the success of the festival, but at the same point, you are sad to see it end.
