College days are among the best days of our life — the friends we make, the time we spend hanging out in the canteen, sharing everything from class notes to class gossip and full of exciting events. During which a student learns new things and comes across several experiences. College festivals offer a chance to do all this and much more to a fresher who is willing to hop on to the festival bandwagon. Every student should experience this organization process at least once during the course of their undergraduate studies. It instills the importance of originality and individuality that are the most vital aspects of engineering. In fact you have to say that the importance of Technical and Cultural Events in college equals the importance of education.
Reputed engineering colleges in India keep on organizing college festivals every now and then. ... the team members is a pre-requisite for ensuring that the event passes off without any hitches. The organizers of any such events experience a wide spectrum of emotions that run the complete range from despair to euphoric highs. The establishment of any event of this kind tests the organizational and leadership abilities of all the folks involved. Many invaluable lessons on time management and even more important lessons on people management are taught and we have to learn them quickly if the festival is to succeed.
However, accomplishments and achievements aside, college festivals are about living in the moment, enjoying yourself, and creating effects that will endure long after college days. The culmination of any successful event such as this is always bittersweet, you are happy for the success of the festival, but at the same point, you are sad to see it end.
While only a small percentage of the entire workforce was able to participate in the event, its intention was to provide employees with something to strive toward. It was also rejuvenating for those given the opportunity to attend. The event was inspiring and left you with the feeling that you work for a great company and they do care about you; so much so that they are willing to spend a lot of money and provide you with a wonderful experience . The event also focused heavily on the driving force of the company: the students and helping them to improve and change their lives. Employees returned to work feeling inspired and ready to do just that. The event provided the company with an opportunity to invest in their employees, reward them, and make them feel
Most people today think of college as simply a place to get a better education, or merely as a steppingstone to financial success. College is far more than that. College is an experience that shapes a person, which can have both positive and negative outcomes. It is all up to the students to make the college experience worth their time and effort. Students must realize the importance of the responsibilities now demanded of them by higher education.
Thompson, Leigh L. “Making the Team” A Guide for Managers. New Jersey: Pearson Education, Inc, 2011. Print.
As a professional in Corporate America, working as part of a team, or leading a team is inevitable. Many great accomplishments come from teams. Establishing a team and understanding the stages of their development is necessary for a leader. The stages of team development are forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning (Gibson, Ivancevich, Donnelly, & Konopeske, 2009). This paper explores these five development stages to the experience of the team effort assigned to resolve the printing problem at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Scissors, Paper, Rock! For my first cultural event, I attended the University Performing Dancers rendition of “Scissors, Paper, Rock!”. This dance performance took place in University Hall here on campus. This performance is considered a cultural event because the game Rock, Paper, Scissors is an ancient game that many different cultures have claimed to invented.
To start off on the right path, the team must understand what they are working towards. They must be committed to work hard in order to accomplish their goals. Each member should have expectations from everyone and themselves as part of the team.
When we think of the word team, individually many different ideas may come to mind about what a team really is. Some may think of an NFL team (Tennessee Titans), an NBA team (Sacramento Kings), or a NASA astronaut team with such pioneers as Edwin Aldrin, Jr. and Neil Armstrong as members. You might even think of the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, or Marines as teams. In fact they all are, and they have a great deal in common as teams. However, for the purposes of this paper I will examine the characteristics of work teams, as they apply to organizations and I will supply answers to the following questions: What is a team? Where did the team concept come from? What are the types of teams? What are the advantages and disadvantages of having teams in organizations? What does it take to make a team effective?
The roles of the participants: It refers to the knowledge, experience, expertise and skills of the team members in regards to the added value that each member will contribute, which allows the achievement of expected results by the whole team.
The team members should know how important a project is to the company and stride to achieve the goals in a professional manner. Each member should contribute one hundred and ten percent of their input to the group to make the project the best that it can be. Every member of the team should be rewarded individually for their performance, insights, and total input that is beneficial to the team. Communication is the key to a productive team. Without proper communication with a high performance team, it will be very difficult for the team to be victorious on the project they are trying to accomplish.
College for an incoming freshman is exciting, however, it is often focused on the social aspect such as the connections that can be attained through Greek life, parties and independence. Due to the social interactions, freshmen tend to drop out of college after their first year. Focusing on what college is meant for can prevent these situations. The pressures of college such as impressing parents, and maintain a high standard GPA-wise can lead to stress and freeze a student from achieving the proper academic performance. During the mid 1900s, college was considered more of a luxury than anything; people would attend college exclusively to acquire knowledge in hopes of obtaining a career after graduation. People in the twenty-first century, however, attend college to get away from home and enjoy freedom at parties. Education is taken lightly, and those who feel that education isn’t the main focus of college should not apply for sakes of the greater good.
Teams are a major source of companies in these coming years. Teams are Heroes (Collins, 2009-08-27). Everyone wants to be a hero, therefore we need to build, follow, and be effective team members and effective team leaders.
Realizing that a group can become a high performance team is important. Accomplishing this goal is invaluable, advantageous and profitable. Once able to operate from a group to the high performing team is a great step into preparation into the big business world. Leaders and members must also realize not only how to accomplish this but that some problems will and can arise from different demographic characteristics and cultural diversity. That is if one is in such a group, which the probability would be quite high.
Teams are important to a company simply because they motivate transformation and expansion. While teams play a key role in the expansion process of a business; the entire process can be delayed, if not disabled altogether due to a lack of participation on individual levels of commitment. Studies show that if a team is constructed and managed effectively they are 30-50% more productive. (Williams, 1995) Whatever the reason behind the formation of a team in a business it is always wise to take the proper approach to overcome any obstacle.
A team is a group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a project. Team members work toward a common goal. A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members. Team members not only need clear goals, they needs roles to help facilitate
Many businesses place an emphasis on the importance of teamwork. A good team consists of people with different skills, abilities and characters. A successful team is able to blend these differences together to enable the organisation to achieve its desired objectives.
