I was given a team essay with a prompt that ask to analyze a conversation on diversity management, multiple points of views are to be analyzed thought out the team to form an ultimate conclusion. This essay is purely opinion based which mean no research must be conducted. Although this essay no research it is still important to draw an accurate opinion that can be presented effectively. To start, the instructor has given the essay prompt a month in advance to be worked with your team outside of class during that month. Feedback from the instructor is possible but a majority of the feedback would come from peer revisions. Two to three peers read a copy of the assignment, annotate what they feel needs to be changed to help better the essay, and it is then up to the writers to decide what to change based off my peers. A timeline of action would be the best layout when certain points in the assignment need to be accomplished to give time to later revise and earn the grade wanted. To get the best grade possible, I would try to follow the instruction of the prompt and get as many peer reviews on your writing. The library is a quiet place where my team can meet and discussion opinions. There is almost always something happening in my room with my friends coming in to talk, play games, or even watch T.V. My favorite show and would not be a good place to write a team essay. It’s a smaller compact space and a team of eight wouldn’t have room to think. The assignment itself does not ask for team members to think about the spaces I would be in over the month span as to where I would write. My team consists of four other people besides myself, Lauren Chojnaki, Alexa-Louise Patnode, and Jacobe Loewen, and Ryan Tyriver. It is another extremely hectic Monday in the Emergency Department. The waiting room is building up fast with many new walk-in patients. Fire Rescue trucks are calling one after the next with several medical and trauma cases. The hospital supervisor is calling to inform the Charge Nurse of the Emergency Department that the Operating Room has several cases that need beds and will supersede the Emergency Department admits. There are four different team player styles, and they include contributor, collaborator, communicated, and challenger. The contributor keeps the group focused, provides good information, and has high standards for the work. The characteristics of the collaborator is to focus on the overall mission, vision, and long term outcomes. The contributor is usually willing to pitch in to reach the goal, and helps the group form an overall purpose. As the communicator, one would care about how the group communicates and work together. They would also assure that everyone gets recognition, and that the group has a positive team experience. Last, but not least, the challenger asks tough questions about the goals and processes. They are not afraid of disagreement and challenges the team to take risks and be creative and innovative. With completing the team player styles survey I found my dominant style, challenges, and norms.
This report is to find out how communication, team and leadership affects the outcome of teamwork. Making use of Everest simulation which requires large amount of discussions, and various experimentations on communication and leadership systems. Result was satisfactory as everyone now have higher understanding and experience on the key components that build the ideal team.
Throughout the semester, we were assigned five essays. Beginning with paper one, a summary response, we were expected to provide our audience with a brief summary followed by our response to it. I began my paper with a question as the hook, and then I provided the author’s claim. Afterwards, I gave a sentence worth of information about what the article is about and then presented my thesis. My brainstorming process was minimal. Honestly, I did not tackle much on following the writing process. I read the article and began to write accordingly to the assignment sheet. At the point when the team moves into the "norming" stage, they are starting to work all the more successfully as a team. They are no more centered on their individual objectives, yet rather are centered on building up a method for cooperating. They respect each other's opinions and value their differences. They begin to see the value in those differences on the team.
After a review of my performance in the assigned group, I have learned a great deal about myself and behavior in the team-setting situation. This is not the first experience in a team-setting. Previous team setting experiences were conducted in sporting and recreational environments rather than academics. While the setting and the environments were indeed different, there were many commonalities and correlations between the team settings I previously experiences and the current academic team-setting experience for this academic course project.
Effective teams work to establish common goals. These goals are usually the drivers of an effective team when all of the participants are communicating to develop the goals they would all like to achieve. In business, this can be seen when groups set a sales goal and develop a plan of action to achieve this goal. Individuals empowered to approach a goal with their interests in mind as well as the interest of the whole group.
TEAMWORK The teamwork is usually defined as the process of working together in a group to achieve a common goal. These days, working in groups is inevitable. Whether it is a school assignment or working in a clinical setting, we have to work in groups to accomplish a task. We cannot expect to work in isolation all the time. As far as our team is concerned, they worked in an organised manner to accomplish the task within the deadline.
Working in teams provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and establish a rapport towards others within a group. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. The key to having an effective teamwork is to explore each member's unique abilities to motivate them.
Many of the talents and skills they regularly use on a daily basis will transfer to the project tasks that they may to be assigned.
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
