I can distinguish between, various disorders and their impact on the patient such as Bipolar affective disorder and the distinct stages of mania and affect, the patient is presenting with, exposure to mental health disorders as an extension of the individual including symptoms and presentation has significantly contributing to my understanding of the mental health. the diversity and range he along the spectrum has increased my understanding as well as treatment services such as TMS AND ECT Although the analysis demonstrates the success of religious integration in group therapy and cohesion, it is necessary to consider individuals from other religions and those who are not religious or atheist. Sigurdardottir’s et al. (2016) wellness program may have shown prominent success due to the program leaning towards general activities such as yoga, art therapy and relaxation exercises with a focus on mind and body, irrespective of religious affiliation. Likewise, Tutty, Bubbins-Wagner and Rothery’s (2015) evaluation of the 14-week therapy program, You’re Not Alone also demonstrated improved mental wellbeing of the participants based on the interventions like character building, positive reinforcement and active role play which highlighted aggressive, abusive characters and the typical behaviours in relationships. the ability to interatw with a patient,
A difficulty that has occurred commonly is that a definition of spirituality cannot be agreed on. In a broad explanation of both religion as well as spirituality, religion constitutes the organization of faith, implementing prayer, ministry and theology. Spirituality could be viewed as a more individualized experience with a higher being, creator or idea (Walker et al., 2004, p. 70). These expressions allow a vision of client diversity that is found in all counseling classifications. While defining religion and spirituality properly seems trivial, when training counselors to properly apply the use of such variables in their therapies, a concrete explanation is imperative.
Alongside Adler’s individual psychology and Freud’s psychoanalysis, Frankl’s logotherapy is considered “The Third School of Psychotherapy” (Frankl 98). Frankl believed finding meaning in life is paramount to psychological health. His ideas are supported by many psychological theorists, including Auhagen, Sappington, Bryant, Oden, and numerous other researchers (Melton and Schulenberg 38). Additionally, in modern psychology, “positive mental health” and spirituality are becoming increasingly important in patient treatment. Some of the main focuses of logotherapy include having a religious faith and other components of positive mentality, resulting in many psychologists advocating for the use of logotherapy in today’s clinics (Schulenberg et al. 448). Recent studies show logotherapy brings relief to individuals with general mental illness by equipping patients with tools to find meaning within their fight against mental instability. In a study of individuals with advanced mental illness, researchers from the Clinical Disaster Research Center at the University of Mississippi found that those treated with meaning centered therapy experienced a greater sense of empowerment and improvement of symptoms (Schulenberg et al. 456). While logotherapy is typically viewed as a treatment method within psychological clinics, its methods have proven highly effective in other
Developing a sense of wholeness and having an established relationship with their creator, can assist the individual with maintaining stability during times of illness, stress, or when a cure is not possible. This can facilitate a source of healing within, which will promote the health of members in the faith based community. “To promote healing, the nurse builds on strengths to encourage the connecting and integrating of the inner spiritual” (Stanhope, Marcia, & Lancaster, 2012, p. 972). Connecting with the inner spiritual is an important aspect because it can assist the individual with making healthier lifestyle choices. By making healthier lifestyle choices, the individual will achieve their optimal health or wellness and this will be beneficial for the individual and faith based

Outpatient care is the setting the I have the most experience in working in. However, I was still able to learn something new during the panel. I learned about the type of patients that I expect to see in this setting mostly is back pain, shoulder pain, and knee pain. In the next 5 years I see myself working in an outpatient setting. I do not think I will like fast pace evniroment of acute care. I;m also worried about the physical demands of a SNF . Outpaitent care requires the least amount of lifting , compared to toher physical therpay settings. The slower pace evniroment of outpatient care,is the type of evironemnt I enjoy working in the most based on previous experience. The shoulder have been my favorite joint to work on in the time
Senior staff A had a had an approaching supervision and I had noticed recently that I had had to approach her on numerous occasions about not following service user b’s care plan correctly in supporting and encouraging their independence. I discussed this problem with my manager who also informed me she had spoken to her about similar occurrences. Before commencing the supervision I made notes of these occasions and also wrote recorded positive practice to relay back to her. I started the supervision off with positive feedback, saying how I impressed I am with how she carry’s out personal care in such a way that protects the individuals dignity and put them at ease, she seemed really pleased with these comments. I then expressed my concern
The mental health assessment is a crucial part in everyday nursing care as it evaluates an individual’s mental condition to assess for risk factors of mental illnesses and provide optimal care and treatment. Mental health is described as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” (CDC) If the patient not mentally healthy, they can develop mentally illnesses, which can affect treatment and the disease process of physical ailments because without mental health a person cannot be completely healthy. “Suicide Risk Assessment in High Risk Adolescents” is a nursing article that outlines suicide risk factors and prevention strategies for assist nurses in performing mental health assessments. Last week was a very good learning experience for me. I was able to interact more with patients and felt like I had a better understanding of what the expectations of an intern is at St. Bernards Behavioral Health (SBBH). Throughout the week I was able to work with another Therapist Danica, who brings a different approach to therapy. Danica is an extremely intelligent and assertive individual, whom I feel I can also learn from along with my field supervisor. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work under more than one mental health professional and observe how they differ in their approach to treatment.
Now in order to fully understand the importance of addressing the topics of religion and spirituality into therapy as well as with grasping the importance of becoming skilled at integrating these issues into counseling, it is of great importance to distinguish between spirituality and religion and knowing how a client identifies with each one. And with religion and spirituality playing significant roles in aiding emotional well-bein...
I believe the most effective research method to use when examining mental health disorders is the “Naturalistic observation” the reason why I say that is because the true meaning of Naturalistic observation is watching how the client responds and behaves in different environments/situations. With this method you are able to determine the actual problems this client is facing and what should be their diagnosis. Whether it be bipolar 1 or 2, schizophrenia, DID, narcissistic personality and etc. Researchers have to be very careful not to impose, disrupt the environment/change anything so that the client's feelings and actions are as accurate as possible. Another reason why I think this method is the best is because once you finish your session
When I think of being healthy, I don’t think of one part of health. Instead, I try to focus on the total health of the body, which is known as wellness. A lot of individuals believe that being healthy is the basic routine of eating right and exercising. While these are key components of wellness, it is not the primary target. Exercising and eating right initiates the physical aspects of health and physical health is secondary to achieving wellness, which is the total health of the body. Mental health is the main component and the catalyst to achieving wellness. You have to be mentally stable in order to understand yourself and your body. Your mental health will help you to maintain balance in your life and guide you through a healthy lifestyle so you can achieve wellness. This type of focus was not discussed much, but mental health is now a trending topic in the nursing field. Within other medical fields, the popular forms of health are discussed, researched, and demonstrated more. This gives
The concept of mental and mental illness remains ambiguous for large segments of the world. This ambiguity takes on different forms and patterns in dealing with it, between considering mental illness as a form of magic that afflicts the patient or dealing with it as a stain on the family's brow. While Dealing with mental illness in less educated communities, Third world countries and economically disadvantaged countries, like Indonesia, is often a bad thing that exacerbates situations and turns them into tragic situations instead of dealing with them as diseases that need regular care and attention, just like any organic disease Normal. While others like
After reading through the “Our Healthy Minds website”, I was left with a variety of thoughts and questions on the topic. The question I decided to pursue for my final thought paper was: “Why is it that you feel embarrassed to express to a potential dating partner that you have/or have previously suffered from mental illness?” This question is addressing stigmatization around mental illness, but also touches on the varying reasons as to why support is such a vital component within a relationship.
I have thoroughly enjoyed World Cultures (HSC 4M). As a whole, this course has enabled me to think critically about the numerous barriers to equality affecting various groups, like the LGBTQ community, Aboriginals and those diagnosed with mental health disorders, among others. It has made me much more aware about my own pre-conceptions of and attitudes towards others, and how they are largely influenced by the media, ‘single stories’ and to be completely honest, fear. This is something that I did not realize before, but this realization has been imperial to my growth, development and change throughout this course. This course has also encouraged me to challenge my own pre-conceptions and beliefs and to modify my overall attitude towards others
...nse of connection with someone or something outside of themselves is a relatively new concept to me. This will have an impact on my considerations for holistic patient care in the future.
