I believe the most effective research method to use when examining mental health disorders is the “Naturalistic observation” the reason why I say that is because the true meaning of Naturalistic observation is watching how the client responds and behaves in different environments/situations. With this method you are able to determine the actual problems this client is facing and what should be their diagnosis. Whether it be bipolar 1 or 2, schizophrenia, DID, narcissistic personality and etc. Researchers have to be very careful not to impose, disrupt the environment/change anything so that the client's feelings and actions are as accurate as possible. Another reason why I think this method is the best is because once you finish your session
How do the issues facing those doing strategic planning differ from those doing tactical planning? Can the two really be
9). Based on the afore initiatives, the mental health professional must decide which therapy would be beneficial in treatment for the clients’ problems. Evaluations and reevaluations may be needed to be successful in treatment (Nurcombe, 2014,

On June 8, 2016, a child welfare agency conducted a parent/child observation with Ms. Sophia Mendez and her three children. Ashley M. Mosgrove, social work intern, did the intake and completed the biopsychosocial assessment.
In conclusion, these psychoanalytic approaches all have their pros and cons to each approach as we go through them. Each of these approaches also can be used to describe and compare therapy techniques with the Grinch. It was interesting to see the difference that these three approaches all had. I believe that there has been some significant information that was positive out of all of them as well as some negative ones. One never knows as they are first meeting with clients what the real issue is until they get into the sessions a little more. It is important to find an approach that is proper and would assist an individual who may not be willing to be counseling.
On June 2, 2016, Jennifer Westacott of the Mental Illness Australia organization spoke to Parliament about mental illness reform, community and innovation. She spoke about how we need to better the mental health community as it is an epidemic in Australia at the moment. She needed to keep their attention and persuade them to not sit back and to actually do something and help the cause. She tried to do so by using several literary devices to subconsciously appeal to the representatives. Westacott is mostly trying to appeal to the Representative’s emotions as many argue that that is the best way to do so. The figures that Westacott used include many uses of repetition such as anaphora and polysyndeton. The other figures that she used include personification, metaphor, and imagery.
I took and abnormal psychology class where we briefly went over each mental disorder but I would like to be able to go more in depth. During my time in this class we did several case studies, where I learned to diagnose different clients and give possible treatments. I would like to go beyond this method and learn more as I get more into clinical psychology.
Mental health illness affects 26.2 % of the United states adults ages 18 and up. That is 1 in 4 people as of 2004 ("The Number"). Mental health illness does affect over a quarter of the United states population to include me as one of the people who suffer from it. This has affected me and changed my life drastically. Aside from the difficulties of having a mental health illness is how people react to me once they find out. This is widely due to mass media creating a stigma for the mental health ill people that most of the general population tend to believe in the United states.
Race, by definition, refers to biological characteristics of individuals as reflected in their physical appearance (Lyndonna Marrast, David U. Himmelstein, and Steffie Woolhandler, 2016) Contrary to popular race, the concept of race is not something that is intrinsic to human nature; in other words, it is an aspect of society that has been socially constructed with the intention of separation and segregation. Usually, those that are placed into racial categories are associated with certain prejudices and biases that are the result of multiple stereotypes that are perpetuated in our society; for example, there are multiple stigmas of African Americans in today’s society. As a result, this has allowed for the development of a specific way of
When I first began hearing Mental Health, I thought it was a nice way of saying you’re dealing with crazy people (I know we are not supposed to say this). I have learned that Mental Health is an umbrella under which Mental Illness or Disorders are developed or discovered and treated. Everyone has Mental Health whether they have a problem or not is another question. I think every place of employment should be required to have classes on mental health and customer service no matter line of line it is. This would help solve some of the problems we have with work place violence and stress and some of the issues with the police. It would also help lead some people to getting the help they may need on their own

There are some key distinctions between Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT) in a psychotherapeutic context and a medical context. There are key differences between the design of an RCT to evaluate a new drug and an RCT to evaluate a new form of couples’ therapy. However, it is important to begin by defining and understanding the importance of RCT in research (O'Brien, 2013).
The biopsychosocial model – this splits biological, psychological and social aspects of mental distress and looks at them individually, these include DNA, bloodlines and biological history, self-control, perception and motivation, and culture, religion and social relationships. This model will look at someone that is experiencing mental health issues and how they interpret things
Growing up in a foster home and later on being adopted, my past consists of a life that was placed off, what I thought to be its intended course. The derailment granted me with a different perspective on life and also newfound knowledge and respect for social workers and their contributions to society. Individuals whom were in foster care with me and interactions with foster children from my previous employment opportunity at a daycare, influenced me to steer in the direction of becoming a social worker. As I constantly reached new levels of maturity while progressing in life from exposure through real life experiences, these events created a profound knowledge base in relation to social justice. I have witnessed and ascertained wisdom
Our society today does not value our mental health like it should. If society would only pay as much attention to mental health, they would be better off in the long run. Think about an athlete playing a sport, they certainly understand how important physical health is. When a baseball player injures his knee, he is out and waits until it heals. But like many people, mental health is overlooked. Most teenagers do not realize that the many things like stress or eating disorders are coming from a poor mental state. They think that if they just ignore it they will snap out of it, this is not true and many times this kind of thinking will only make it worse (Change Your Mind). Mental health is not seen as important as physical health due to misconceptions and stigma behind mental health patients. By increasing the importance of personal mental health, people can reduce issues associated with mental health problems and raise awareness for people who suffer from mental health issues.
