For instance, for the section on exchanging business cards, there were no clear guidelines and it ultimately varied according to the situational settings. However, we gathered the possible information and tweaked them into context whilst avoiding overgeneralising it. Eventually, we managed to recommend something that could be applied to most situations. Through this, I learnt that we should always be innovative as every situation is unique and consider all possible solutions before coming to a conclusion. Problem 2: We were imprudent in conducting our research and there were many questionable gaps in it. For instance, for the gift-giving section, we included wines as a generally acceptable gift. However, we failed to consider that this was unacceptable in Saudi Arabia. We should have been more cautious and considered all factors thoroughly before including it as part of our research. Mr Darshan constantly ensured that we were on the right track and frequently questioned the points we presented. This challenged us to think innovatively during the peer-teaching sessions. For instance, for the Gift Etiquette section, we stated that we should purchase a gift that the person likes and not what they need. Mr Darshan challenged us to differentiate a need and a want philosophically. In the article “Never Say Anything a Kid Can Say!” Steven C. Reinhart shares his struggle of finding the fundamental flaw that existed in his teaching methods. He is a great teacher, explained mathematics well, he was dedicated and caring, but his students were not learning and with low achievement results, Reinhart had to question his teaching methods. He began to challenge himself. He committed to change 10% of teaching each year and over many years he was able to change his traditional methods of instruction to more of a student-centered problem-based approach. Throughout the semester, we have studied numerous communication theories. Their purpose is to help understand exactly what happens when we interact with others. We might not necessarily agree with all of the theories, but the idea is to develop tools to evaluate situations we may encounter. Often, when the theories are explained in the readings or lecture, it is beneficial to apply the concepts to a "real life" situation. Each of the three learning theories, Cognitivism, Constructivism, and Behaviorism, has worth and merit in my opinion. Yet, each one has its own unique qualities with one common factor, the learning process. It seems to me that the best teacher is one who would utilize all the theories of learning. However, if I look closely, I am most likely favoring one or two more than the others in my own instructional methods. We had a meeting where I had to divide the work equally and listen to their suggestion about how they want to work on the project and we've set a deadline of our own and we had to be committed to it which was 3 days before the original due date of the project which a great idea because we had enough time to review the work and correct the mistakes. Moreover, group work taught me how to manage time, how to divide work equally and improved my listening skills.
