For this speech, my goal was to share with the class an interesting and informative speech about something related to my culture; therefore, I choose to share with them my experience about the Arabic food. I demonstrated my credibility about the topic, and shared two of the most popular Arabic foods. From this experience, I have learned several things that I could benefit from for my future speeches, such as: what are my weaknesses that I need to work on and what are the things that I did well and need to develop more.

One of the main things that I did well, was trying to maintain eye contact with everyone from my audience. Trying not to relay on my note cards a lot helped me to look at everyone; however, some of my audiences said that I was doing more eye contact with one side of the class than the other side so I need to work on that more. Another thing that I think I did well was using gesture. Since I was holding my note card with one hand, I was able to use my other hand to do some gesture to demonstrate some of the ideas presented in my speech. In addition to maintaining eye contact and using gesture, I liked the visual aid that I used for my speech because it supported my speech and a lot of my audiences liked the information that were provided through my visual aid.
Those were some of the things that I think that I did well; however; if I was given a second chance, there are some of the things thing that I would try to do better, such as trying to slow down a bit and speak a little bit louder so everyone could hear my speech clearly.
Overall, it was a new and great experience that I really enjoyed a lot. I have learned about the strength and weakness of my speech and how to overcome my weakness. I think the speech went well and I was able to inform the audience about a new and interesting topic and this was shown from the feedback that I got from the audience.

Each speech was written as we strived to choose the right words that would have exactly the right impact on the crowd. I became more anxious as I tried to prepare myself to give my last speech. I cleared my throat and I was suddenly the first one in line. I stepped up to the microphone and began flipping through a pile of loose papers searching for the speech I had written, analyzed, read, and re-read. Just as quickly, I came across a paper with my name written across the top. I took a deep breath and began to read it aloud. The speaker organized the presentation very well and made it easy to follow for the audience. She chose words that got the message across clearly and were not difficult to understand. Since this was targeted at a younger audience, she simplified the concepts and was very specific. The sentences of the speech were structured appropriately, and had no grammatical errors. I also think I improved the conversational aspect of my speaking voice. I am extremely proud of my introduction when I signed and spoke at the same time because in American Sign Language, you only sign. After re-watching my persuasive presentation a few times I was able to effectively critique myself, and what I found was that there were some things that I did well and some things that I did not do well that I did not even notice I was doing during the presentation itself. Coming into speech class, I mentally and physically prepared myself for what was in store. I never really like giving speeches, especially impromptu speeches. Signing up for speech was hard for me to do because I absolutely did not want to take it and was considering not taking it in high school and wishing that I would never have to take it. My fears for COMM 101 was being judged. I didn’t even care to pay attention to what I was saying, let alone an entire class of busy, tired and stressed out students. Nealy and my parents helped me tremendously over the years to overcome my fear. I stayed after school to practice in front of Mrs. Nealy and a small group of my closest friends. My parents recorded my speeches so that I could watch my body language and practice over and over again. My sister, although 3 years younger than I was, provided me with many funny but ingenious comments that help me to learn. I practiced in the shower, in front of the mirror, and everywhere else I could before each presentations. It wasn’t easy; however, as the years went by, I felt more confident and comfortable speaking in front of groups. I have learned the valuable techniques from Maya Angelou that said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. The most important thing I am taking away from this class would be the extemporaneous delivery skill. I think it 's important to use to the 7 x7 rules while using the extemporaneous delivery skills to present the speech. I felt that this skill is commonly used in the real world. This skill can be used for various purposes like selling consumer products and other projects. I have used this delievery skill for minor and major speeches for this class. Practice is a major role that needs to be played when it comes to presenting. Practicing, I feel gives you more confidence in your speech, and more preparation than if you were to not practice. Rehearsing before the speech then presenting makes you seem like you actually know what you are talking about even if the only reason you know all these facts is because of study and practicing. Practicing through my speech really helps me with my presentation, if I practice enough, I feel very confident to where I wouldn’t need t a paper to look at notes during the speech. This concept is important for anything. Practicing will always help you with any future task.
