Throughout this class I have learned a lot about myself and what it is I want to do with my life. Whether it was doing an information interview or creating my personal mission statement there was always something that I was constantly doing that that was SMART goals. These were the most helpful in the sense this would actually help me brainstorm plans for myself that would help to better myself. It also was a helpful way for me to finally take action. Throughout the term I came up with few important goals that I would like to share. The first of my SMART goals was related to my own personal values. I learned a lot about my values in this class and that helped my come up with this goal. My goal is that by December 25th I want to be able …show more content…
Procrastination is the reason I am in this situation in the first place and when it comes to sitting still I am just going to have to gather my willpower and just force myself to study hard so I can break that bad habit. The strengths that will get me through this are my determination for success, using my stress as a motivator, and my friends and family. I tend to work well under pressure which is where the stress comes in handy but I also want to strive to be the best I can be but I have to be successful to do that. Lastly, I have my friends and family that push me to new heights so with the support they give me I can do …show more content…
While I’m waiting for a response I will go through my old junk and sell it on Craigslist. I will also have to go to my bank and set up a new savings account for this money. Lastly, once I get my job I would just have to store all of the money I make which should be really easy. I have one more goal and that is all about my major. I want to have declared a major by June 10th, which is the end of spring term. I am so tired of being undeclared and being in UESP because I feel like I’m just wasting time and money at this point. Everybody seems to have a passion right now but me so I want that to change. So hopefully by the end of the school year I will have found it. Some of the challenges I will face is that I am very indecisive about this stuff. I will also only declare a major if the jobs I can get make good money so that can be really tough for me because I am picky on this stuff. Some strengths that will help me through this will be the knowledge that was given to me during this Career Decision Making class. I will also have a lot career exploration resources that I can
The final aspect of setting SMART goals is that they must be time bound. Simply, it is necessary to have a deadline for which the goal must be completed. If the deadline is a long way off, set hallmarks along the way. This will contribute to measuring your success and help you to keep moving toward the ultimate goal (KPW, 2010). For example, I only have financial aid for a specific amount of time which means that I must take the time that is needed to pursue my degree because my course has a specific target date as to when everything should be complete.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Ever since I was little, I have always had very high career goals for myself. My short-term goal was to work hard throughout high school in order to be accepted to a university, which I accomplished by graduating with a 4.0 grade point average. My next step was to do well my freshman year of college at Eastern Michigan University in order to be accepted into their nursing program that is very competitive. I finished my first year of college with a 4.0 grade point average and was accepted into the nursing program. Now that I am in the program, my goal is to continue to do well in my studies by focusing on my courses and spending as much times as possible studying. I ended my first semester of nursing school with all As and one A- giving me an accumulative GPA of 3.98. I would like to graduate at the top of my nursing class, and I believe this is an achievable goal because I am a very driven and hard working person. When I want to achieve something I will do whatever it takes to do so.
By using the S.M.A.R.T. goal system, you are able to make your dreams a reality, one small step at a time. The first step in reaching a long-term goal is to understand the S.M.A.R.T. the goal process. Simply using the words specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound can be a bit confusing. After a bit of research, I was able to better define the method. Using a S.M.A.R.T. Goal worksheet provided by Tatt (2012).
The next set of goal setting importance is my personal goals with the first being to over come the obstacles associated with returning to school.
As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. At UWEC, I would like to get involved in anything musical, along with various clubs and Greek life. Similarly, another goal of mine is to have a job on campus. Having a job will not only help me make some
What is my personal purpose? Is a question that I have never thought to ask myself until recently. Then when I started learning more about a personal purpose I started wondering if I have one and what it was. I never thought of myself has having a real purpose until a watched an interview Will Smith had did and he had said “When your life means something to someone other than yourself than you have a purpose.” That is when I realized that I have a purpose. My purpose is that I am the hug that let others know it is going to be ok. My personal goals is to be genuinely happy with myself and life and to make my parents proud, my career goal is to own my own business and being successful at doing so, finally, my educational goal is to get my bachelors degree and grauate with honors and even moving on to getting my masters. Having goals is important to me because I know that while I am in the process of accomplishing them I will have something great to look forward to in the end.
...e very important. When these goals are specific, measureable, attainable, realistic and timely they are the most effective. When I set my SMART goal in order to increase my physical activity, the goal was to feel better about myself and to have a clearer mind so that I could do well with my studies this resulted in increasing my physical health and wellness. There were a few challenges of having to force myself to get out of bed even though I was feeling really anxious. I think when making a SMART goal and changing that particular behaviour there will be changes that need to be faced and overcome. These might include psychological, family and work commitments, health challenges and many other duties. Motivation and time management therefore need to be considered when making a SMART goal to make this possible and therefore can succeed in their new behaviour change.
One of the best ways to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. They are important to keep yourself on task and to get to a desired point of self fulfillment. The issue can be how to achieve goals in a successful manner. The issue is "Although people may desire or intend to attain some outcome, they are not committed to that as a goal until they are willing to invest affect, cognition, and behavior in attaining it" (Traci Mann, 2013). This is why it is important to have a set path on how to accomplish important goals. I have chosen three goals that I want to accomplish to demonstrate a Process known as SMART, to help accomplish them. There goals are that I want to finally earn a college degree(personal), I want to make it into the honor society while earning my degree(academic), and I want to earn my degree in order to contribute to Autism research(professional). All of these goals range in the amount of time it will take to accomplish them. Some are long term, but I can still use the SMART goal process in order to achieve them. The SMART steps to follow are:
Out of everything that we 've learned this quarter, goal setting was something that stood out to me. There are a few times where I set a goal in my head but end up never achieving them, wether it was something very simple or more of a long term goal. A technique that stood out to me in our notes is, writing down your goals. I don 't I 've ever written down a single goal that I 've had. In class and in our notes we talked about how it is important to write down your goals and how you cannot just write the general idea of your goal, but how you need to be very specific in what it is you want to achieve. I think that in college it 's very important to set long, mid, and short term goals because somedays will be harder than others and you need
My goal is to go to college and then have a career. It 's a goal that probably a lot of people have,
I have always wanted to make good grades but I never really set any goals but, then I realized that setting academic goals are way more important than people realize . I then started to set goals like my sophomore year of high school after I did that it really helped me focus on my future and what I wanted for myself. My goals I think pushed me so much more academically they opened my eyes a little bit more. One Goal I set was to graduate High school with a Core 40 diploma, which I did, so that is one goal down and a bunch more to go. My senior year I started applying to college but my main goal was to make into Saint Mary-of-the Woods and when I received my acceptance letter I was ecstatic. So far, I am still trying to figure out my academic goals for college but, I do know for sure that I want to succeed in every single way that I can so I can make a better future for myself. A goal that I made this year is to make the dean’s list every single time, for this I will study so hard for every test, do all of my homework, and ask questions when I have them and maybe even getting a tutor. This challenge will probably be really tough but I believe that I can do it if I put my mind to it, and I tend to be a very determined
Everyone has goals, some are as simple as saying that you plan to wash all your jeans on Thursday. This is not a smart goal but it is a goal. SMART Goals are goals that are Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant/Result Focused/Realistic and Time-Bound. I believe that all goals should be SMART. This way you can create a step by step path on how
Once you set your goal, you need to start getting more specific. It moves from a dream into reality. Make a plan, it must move from your mind to a piece of paper. Write down the things that you need to do. What do you want to achieve? What will be your life when you achieve your goal? Things that you need to be done. Things that you want to learn more about your goal. Qualities that you admire in others. Improves the qualities you have. Habits that you want to stop and habits that you want to improve.
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals. My long-term goal is to run my own counseling center and employee at least one other person. Some Skills I already possess that will allow me to succeed with this plan are my ability to relate to people and be consistent in following the steps needed, even though it will be a long and tedious process.
