STORY LINE / PLOT:

The film begins in 1954 with Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) as a struggling, travelling sales assistant for a milkshake mixer company. He observes how insufficiently run most drive-ins that he sells to are. Until one day he gets a call to order an abnormally large number of mixers in San Bernardino, he visits California to find the highly popular walk-up restaurant McDonald’s. He quickly becomes interested in the quick service, high-quality food, and family-friendly environment.
Ray speaks with the brothers behind the business, Richard “Dick” McDonald (Nick Offerman) and Maurice “Mac” McDonald (John Caroll Lynch) who have created a strong work ethic in the working environment. They explain how they thought of the concept …show more content…

Leaders are the inspiration and directors of action and possess the art of motivating a group of people towards a common goal. A leader should be able to make decisions, encourage others, guide others, take initiative and be a mediator and arbitrator.

There are various management and leadership styles that include democratic, autocratic, laissez faire and situational leader which includes all 3 types of leadership while influencing the workforce.

Management tasks/functions include planning, organizing, leading, controlling, coordinating, delegating, discipline, decision making and motivating. These tasks are performed on all levels of management (upper, middle and lower), however, the degree to which each task is performed may vary according to the level of seniority of the manager.

The duties of a successful manager include:

• Supervises the franchises administrative directors
• Meets with associates and support staff of the franchise
• Monitors the franchises financial performance

He manipulates his position of strength to essentially take the company away from the innocent McDonald’s brothers. He violated the trust of the people that gave him a chance. Although he was a persistent and tenacious leader who worked hard, he breached his contract with the brothers and made the brothers believe him and trust he honor his word while doing a ‘handshake deal’.

Ray believed that cheating, lying and not following a code of ethics allows many people to succeed. All of which are unethical issues.

Shared ethics, values and priorities are what separates a great franchise from its investors. By marketing the concept to middle class husband and wife teams, Kroc created a network of family run operations that showed a distinct work ethic and willingness to maintain brand standards. Ray reinforces accountability across all levels of the operation by picking up waste paper on franchisee’s lots during visits.

Kroc was focused on customers and the restaurant franchisees who delivered on his promise. Which shows professionalism by honouring commitments to clients and having knowledge skills relating to his job and was committed to a lifelong learning in his field to ensure that a superior outcome was
