One day i was with my friend and we were riding bikes and a huge pit bull came charging at us and we started to go faster and we were trying to lose him and we went through an ally and a lot of dogs were barking at us and a german shepard jumped a fence and my chain was making a lot of noise and we lost them for awhile and i fixed my chain because it was about to fall of then we were riding back home and they saw us again and we started to pedal as fast as we could so we could lose them and we got in a different place and got lost and the dogs were still chasing us so we splited up and later we couldn't find each other and i called him and he wouldn't answer the phone and at last i saw him and he told me that he had lost his phone so instead
On June 20, Charlotte Alter posted an article on TIME website titled, “The Problem with Pit Bulls”. In her article she starts with an event that happened to a three year old little girl that was attacked by three Pit Bulls. The little girl and her family were in KFC and one of the employees asked her to leave because her face was “disrupting their customers”. Half of the little girl’s face is now paralyzed and she has also lost her vision in one of her eyes because of the three Pit Bulls that attacked her. Her grandfather killed the three Pit bulls that attacked her; however her grandfather is now facing charges of child-endangerment. KFC was so generous to donated money to the family to help with her medical bills. But yet the rant is more
Pit bulls, the most dangerous dog to ever live. People like to train Pit Bulls to fight other dogs until they are either hurt or dead. The owners that train the dogs are usually the ones that make the dog turn out to be vicious and dangerous. “Each year, 1.2 million dogs are euthanized, approximately 40% of whom are Pit Bulls”(Moore). Pit Bulls don’t know better to understand which is right from wrong since they’re being raised up to fight and protect. Pit Bulls aren’t good family dogs due to the power of their strength and that they could attack at any moment.
When I first arrived “Lisa” The girl that I shadowed told me that there was an emergency with one of the animals. It ended up that a one-year-old beagle ate an entire thing of metabolite, and then slowly started to die. The liver had shut down, and the heart rate was up to 300. Lisa told me that taking a thing of metabolite was like taking 50 cups of coffee at once. The owners of the beagle were there and bowling. The beagle’s name was Murry. Murry's body slowly was shutting down one thing after another. The owners made the decision the dog was going to be put to sleep. We got the dog ready to be taken out. They undid all the cords from the dog so they could take it to another room. I said goodbye to the dog, and then they took it into the other room so that the owners could be there when they put him to sleep. After that happened they then had to put a sleep a little hedgehog that had cancer on its mouth. We then did two regular checkups with one cat and with one dog. Those when great. After that we had a dog come in and it ended up having an affection that might end up killing it. I never heard the end result. The last thing that I did there was that a black lab had been bitten by another dog, and that dog ripped a hole in the neck of the black lab. The doctors had to perform surgery on the dog to close up the holes in the neck. They first had to clean it out with qutips. And blood stated to come out right then I was a little dizzy and I thought I was going to faint. But thank god I didn’t. I saw a cat get dental work on it. And a cat get a bath and they had to blow dry it and brush the hair while it was a sleep.
An increasing number of pit bull attacks have occurred over past decade. People who are attacked by pit bulls always suffer serious injuries because of the pit bulls’ sharp teeth and strong muscles. In October 19, 2009, Dr Hugh Wirth who is the RSPCA’s Victorian president renewed calls for American pit bull terriers to be bred out of Australia. The current laws require owners of pit bulls to register their pit bull. While some people are satisfied with the laws because they think that they are safe, others disagree. From my own perspective, the laws should be improved. The government should ban these fierce dogs and wipe them out instead of just registering them. In my opinion, there are three reasons why I am in favour of Dr Wirth’s proposal.
When the American Pit Bull is discussed, the subject of nature versus nurture is often the primary topic. Over the last ten to twenty years, thoughts have changed greatly in respect to dog fighting. Throughout history, several different types of dogs have been used for dogfighting. Ancient Romans had displays of dog fights, as well as gladiators, in their great arenas long before the bully breed ever came into existence (Hsu & Sun, 2010). Thankfully, society has evolved, and so has the ideas behind the fight of dogs. Fighting is no longer thought of as just a game or entertainment by the majority of humans. The descendants of those various animals once used so barbarically, have now evolved to be therapy dogs, service dogs, and beloved family pets (Preis, 2014).
Pit Bulls are not the aggressive breed that everybody makes them out to be. I can understand why there are some people who think that pit-bulls are just mean, but if you get past the looks, they are just big babies.
Because I had never owned a pit bull, and because of all the stories, I informed my daughter that we would research information concerning not only the breed, but also his care. There were more than a few books of information. I bought a book entitled, “Pitbull’s for Dummies”. This book not only describes the history of the breed, but informs new owners of the care that these dogs require. Also, I learned what kind of toys were best suited for him. I went shopping and created a play pen which had a crate in it. I put the puppy bed in the crate with blankets, and stuck all his stuffed animals around the crate. The floor was covered in potty pads. I was informed by the lady at the store that it would make the transition of a new home easier,
Pit bulls face such a high degree of discrimination, that they have become the most common breed in shelters throughout the United States. Over 700 cities in the U.S. have banned pit bulls within their communities giving them the name, “America’s most reviled dog” (Tullis). Steps to prevent the prejudice of not only pit bulls but all dog breeds have proven effective. As of 2014, 17 states passed laws which prevented “breed-specific legislation” (Madhani) within their towns and cities. Regardless, pit bulls still remain the least adopted and most commonly euthanized breed in the United States. Every year up until 1998, the CDC would take a census of dog attacks and the breed responsible. This caused a wide variety of controversy in the dog
Owning a pit bull in today’s day and age has one of two reactions: Either the person loves them or is terrified of them. There are so many myths about Pit Bulls and they are just that. Myths. Some of the myths that surround pit bulls are that they have “lock jaw” and they have a killer instinct that does not stop at just killing other animals. Pit bull advocates, such as myself, know that Pit Bulls have always been known as the “nanny dog” throughout history because of how much they love children and their loyalty to their families. Mean or vicious dogs come from ignorant, irresponsible owners. The bottom line is that not all pit bulls are bad.
Dogs are a man’s best friend. If you go into many American’s homes you will find a furry four legged friend. Chances are if you watch television you have seen that ASPCA commercial with Sarah McLachlan’s “Arms of an Angel,” playing in the background. The most prominent dog in these heart wrenching videos are pit bulls. Pit bulls have a ferocious stigma in the United States and are being put down is mass numbers every day. Studies estimate that up to 1 million Pits are euthanized per year, or 2,800 per day. (D’Addio, 2011) The fact that pit bulls are being put down for solely being pit bulls is astonishing. I will be discussing the ethical dilemma for euthanizing this dog breed for the stigma we have given them. Although there is contradicting
The dog was walking on my chest, while I was lying on something soft. I think it was a mattress. The puppy walked towards my waist. I knew it was going to bite. "Get lost".
As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home.
Pitbulls are one of my most favorite animals. There are two different kinds there's a blue nose and a red nose. At one point and time pit bulls were very famous animals. They played in a variety of movies. Pits are not as bad as people think they are.
"Honey," my mom yelled to me one sunny afternoon, "Go out and feed Sugar." Sugar was our dog, a big, husky lap dog. I went to our kitchen, and got some food. Then I stepped outside, into the warm, fresh August air, looking for Sugar. I glanced to where I kept Sugar, and couldn't believe my eyes. Sugar was not there. I ran to the place where Sugar slept, I saw that the leash was elegantly coiled up. I knew that Sugar could not have run away. I thought that she must have chased a deer or another animal. Then a disturbing thought hit me, Sugar might have been abducted. As I tried to push that thought out of my mind, I thought that my mom could have put Sugar out in the garage. I went to the garage to check, but unfortunately Sugar wasn?t there. ?Mom,? I cried after a couple of seconds, ?Do you know where Sugar is??
Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted a dog. Never did I think that dogs would end up being by biggest fear. I was just a little kid around 6 years old when it happened. I was walking home from my friend’s house when I saw a stray dog, it was in the middle of the street blocking my way, I decided to walk past it, while I was walking it started growling at me, I hesitated but still kept trying to walk then suddenly it got up and started barking empathically towards me. I was terrified, my first initial reaction being a 6 year old kid was to scare it away, I was ignorant. I picked up a rock and threw it at the dog thinking it’ll get scared and run away. I was wrong. The dog had enough it made a whimpering noise then started barking even louder
