As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home. Being a teenager my mother explained having a pet was a great responsibility somehow I was frustrated she didn’t understand my passion and love for dogs! Nothing in the world would convince her to let us get one. She claimed I can have a turtle if I desperately wanted to have a pet. I couldn’t agree. By this time I graduated high school and only worked I …show more content…
It became the longest week I had ever lived. Excitement ran throughout my body making it impossible to rest at night. In the meantime, I was preparing all of my future puppies things. It was clear I decided on a boy. Later, I decided to name him Bentley. Not sure why but it was a name that pleased me. I met the man to pick my choice of dog. I was brought into a room and in this room was a basket overflowing with sleeping puppies. They were two months old black and white but also a few brindle. Some had escaped and wandered off walking. Each one was five hundred dollars, not a price that bothered me since I saved enough for this. This small half black and white face male puppy really caught my attention. “That one!” Nothing was changing my mind on that. That puppy was going to be Bentley. All of my life, I had waited for this. He makes his arrival to his new
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to have and maintain a pet? Burkhard Bilger, the author of “The Last Meow”, explains how Americans spend a lot of money on their pets and that people's “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control. An observation I have made is that in many movies dogs are treated very well. When I was younger, I watched a movie called Bratz and one character would always have her dog inside a dog purse and they would even get manicures and pedicures together. The dog always had shiny clothes on and it was always very clean. Therefore, I agree with Bilger's argument that Americans “love affair” with their pets has gotten out of control.
"He's the one." Tom put the dogs back into their kennels before leading us back into the main room. Póilín trotted along side Jack, his lead dragging behind him. Tom and Jack talked price and what we would need. I zoned out till I felt something small scratch at the back of my leg. I looked down to see a little pup who whines up at me as it hopped up on it's back legs and place it's front paws just above my knee. I squatted down and picked it up. I licked my face and caused me to giggle. With my giggle Jack turned to look and was surprised to see the pup in my arms. Tom smiled at me as the pup settled into my arms.
My memory begins when I was 12 years old, It was a hot day during the long summer. However, Summer Break was just about to end and a school would soon begin, I had been patiently waiting my whole life for the day that I would finally receive a dog. My mom and I bargained for years, but I would always end up with a fish instead of a dog. I even once was able to persuade my mom into buying me a hamster, but after a year or two, the hamster died. Out of all possible excuses, my mom agreed to buy me a dog. As a result, I went searching for any dog breed and finally came up with a Beagle. However, beagles were very loud in general, so my mom and I argued over the breed for most of Summer Break. The standard Beagle was spotted with patches of black, white, and brown. They also possessed long and droopy
Not too long ago, Ms. Morris’s beloved dog, Hattie, had 5 puppies. Everyone in town thought the puppies were boring and ugly. Their eyes were closed, made a little movement, and didn’t make any noise. Nobody thought the dogs were cute, and nobody wanted them.
Despite all these reasons, I believe a dog provides a lot more to you than what you expect. The simple joys of getting up every morning and cuddling him, the constant wagging of the tail, and the very real (as well as effective) puppy eyes when you’re eating food! Now who wouldn’t want to love a dog after this?
Roger Caras an Animal Welfare Advocate once said “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Dogs are a man's best friend and they always have been and always will be. Losing a dog can suck and be heart breaking to many dog owners and if they don't find their dog then it really sucks. If you own a dog or just get a new dog it becomes part of you and part of your life. Dogs are an essential part of mankind. They are a man’s best friend, a loyal companion, and a fun and comforting play mate.
Some people may say a dog is just a dog, but for me they are extremely desirable. Dogs are a person’s best friend. They make me cry, laugh, and I wish never adopted one because they do smell. Although, dogs smell, it should not be a justification to not obtain one. I mean what does not smell? I never realized how taking care of a dog could change my life; until I saw how they sleep throughout the day, they are always there to comfort me, and how they provide a responsible way of living.
Owning a Pet Having a pet is a wonderful idea! Pets bring companionship, personality, and gut wrenching humor to households across the world. Having previously owned both a cat and a dog, and currently being without a pet, I began to think about getting a new furry friend. Born a dog lover, and bred into a cat lover, I had the difficult decision of choosing one of the two. When I was twenty-two years old, I answered an advertisement in the paper for free Labrador puppies.
As a child it was obvious how much I loved animals, not just house hold pets like fish, dogs, and cat but even outdoor animals the average toddler would probably not be so fond of. When I was younger I woul...
When I was nine years old my grandparents adopted a two year puppy named, maximilian. We, of course, called him Max. When we went to the kennel to pick out a new dog Max didn 't seem like an option. He was a scrawny little puppy tucked in the corner of the shelter. Max was a boisterous springer spaniel mix, and when we first got him he was black and white. Overtime his white fur was masked by black spots, similar to age spots, which made him uniquely mine. Max was suppose to my grandfathers new hunting dog when he was newly adopted. However, at the very first gunshot Max bolted and my grandfather spent a three hours looking for Max in the woods. After the hunting incident my grandfather wrote Max off and, he became my dog.
Getting a puppy can be very expensive. Not only should you pay for the animal but you are making a commitment to care and treat for that animal for the rest of their life. When considering getting an animal prepare yourself for “just in case” situations, because they tend to happen more than we'd like. My puppy had just ...
The day Mom got Sugar was somewhat frightening for me. Obviously, I wanted nothing to do with the dog, I never planned to be in the same room as the dog, much less, take care of the dog. After all, Mom was supposed to take care of the dog. Slowly, I fell in love with her. She looked stern and loving. Her warm, brown eyes and pearly white smile only helped me fall in love with her. Not long after that I started to enjoy her company. Sugar was a loyal dog, she wanted to please everyone. When we went for a walk Sugar would come with us. We kept her on a leash, yet she never strayed from us.

Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted a dog. Never did I think that dogs would end up being by biggest fear. I was just a little kid around 6 years old when it happened. I was walking home from my friend’s house when I saw a stray dog, it was in the middle of the street blocking my way, I decided to walk past it, while I was walking it started growling at me, I hesitated but still kept trying to walk then suddenly it got up and started barking empathically towards me. I was terrified, my first initial reaction being a 6 year old kid was to scare it away, I was ignorant. I picked up a rock and threw it at the dog thinking it’ll get scared and run away. I was wrong. The dog had enough it made a whimpering noise then started barking even louder
