Physical Wellness Physical wellness involves many aspects that are needed in order to keep your health and body in the best condition possible. An individual can maintain healthy and positive physical wellness through beneficial physical activity and exercises as well as forming healthy eating habits. The main components of physical wellness include muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular strength. Each of these qualities plays a major role when it comes to physical wellness. You must recognize and form both physical and eating habits that will contribute to your physical wellness. The major obstacle that I think would be the most difficult to overcome is forming a physical activity plan and sticking to that plan. It is important to adjust yourself to these lifestyle changes and do what feels the most comfortable so that your experience is enjoyable and lasts a lifetime. As you form your physical activity and healthy eating habits, it is important to consider your areas of improvement. Build an exercise plan that allows you to exercise at least three to six times a week for at least twenty minutes is possible. If you’re at work, consider taking the stairs instead of the elevator to get in extra physical activity. With eating, it is important to eat a healthy and nutritious breakfast. “Healthy People provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans.” ( United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Healthy People 2020 , 2011). It acts as a national guide for disease prevention and health promotion. There are various objectives and goals which serve as the guideline to achieve overall improvement in health . ‘Educational and Community-Based Programs’ is one of them. According to U.S Department of Health and Human Services the main goal of these programs is to “Increase the quality, availability, and effectiveness of educational and community-based programs designed to prevent disease and injury, improve health, and enhance quality of life.” (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2011). This particular goal of Healthy People 2020 focuses on increasing the number educational and community based programs to increase awareness about disease prevention and health among every individual of the society. It focuses on educating them on various topics including chronic diseases, substance abuse, prevention of injury and violence to encourage and enhance health. It emphasizes on increasing the quantity and quality of such programs so that a larger population could benefit from the program and gain effective knowledge to achieve a healthy life.

Wellness provides the mind, body, feelings, and spiritual well-being individuals gain in their daily lifestyle. When most individuals in society hear the phrase wellness they assume it is referring to physical wellness. Which is true, but did society know that physical wellness is part of the seven wellnesses that are broken down into extension? Which are known for physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental, and occupational wellnesses. These seven wellnesses help provide ways for individual to do daily and guide individuals to maintain a good health from inside and out.
Wellness is imperative to a healthy life. Sometimes, people do not really consider what makes up wellness, they simply think of it as being “well”. Wellness may be a state of being “well”, however, it incorporates different areas such as nutrition, health, safety, nurturing, and emotional stability. People must be healthy in all of these areas in order to achieve wellness. This is not an easy task for an adult, but definitely not for children.
Research has shown that the level of our physical activity can have a direct and very influential impact on our state of mind and how the body goes through many physical changes. With the amount of abnormal disorders being diagnosed every day, there are a variety of psychological orientations that practice their beliefs and views on treatments. The biological perspective is an orientation that I support, while orientations such as the sociocultural perspective and the humanistic perspective are more questionable in their ideas of therapy.

You have to make good, healthy choices to be physically well. Eating healthy, exercising, and seeing a doctor on a regular basis for check-ups are all conducive to physical wellness. There may be many occasions when individuals are not necessarily ill or in pain but may be overweight, stressed or emotionally unstable. Health is a quality of life involving dynamic interaction and interdependence among the individual’s physical state, their mental and emotional reactions, and the social context in which the individual exists. There are many factors that influence your health, but three major components contribute to general well-being: Self-awareness, a balanced diet and, regular physical activity.

The impact these seven different dimensions have on our health they are, physical, intellectual, psychological, spiritual, social, environmental, and occupational all play a role in our health. All in so many different ways working together to make a brighter and happier healthier us. These seven dimensions make up whom we are and how we live our life is all based upon how we balance these dimensions.
