Are you nervous about middle school? Are you feeling intimidated by what you think you’re going to face? Don’t worry, because I had the same kind of mindset when I was about to enter junior high. I was worried about the assignments becoming more difficult and about the teachers probably becoming stricter. But as I went through junior high, I realized that I actually had nothing to fear. Through my middle school years, I’ve picked up on some ways and techniques that make surviving middle school a little easier and a lot more fun. In order to survive middle school, you must have good study skills, be able to deal with or avoid class drama, and you must follow some of my personal advice. Good study skills are essential if you want to survive middle school. When it comes to this, organization is key. …show more content…
Knowing how to have good organization will help prevent you from losing assignments and important handouts. One of the worst feelings is knowing you finished an assignment, put a lot of effort into it, and not being able to find it anywhere. Having a planner will also help keep you organized, help you to keep track of what assignments you need to finish, and help you remember which textbooks you need to bring home. A lot of times, people will assume that they finished all of their homework, but will discover the next day that they forgot to do that one assignment. Not only will it create an awkward moment where you need to tell the teacher that you didn’t do the assignment, but it will also affect your grade. If you have a planner, make sure that you’re always writing down the assignments that the teacher puts up on the homework board. Since you usually have a lot of assignments in junior high, a planner will be your new best friend. Another study skill that will benefit you extremely is learning not to procrastinate. I have one thing to tell you about procrastinating: don’t. Putting off your assignments and projects until the last minute will leave you cramming and very stressed. Trust me, you do not want to be that stressed. Let me tell you something I’ve learned. It is better to get things done ahead of time instead of putting them off until the last second. Managing your time for projects and assignments wisely will help keep your mind at ease. Something that will most likely take place in middle school is drama, and I’m not talking about the musical theater kind. We all have experienced it or are going to experience it at some point. Nevertheless, it’s an issue that nobody likes and it’s something that will ruin your middle school experience if you let it. Now let’s face it. Drama is completely inevitable. It’s going to happen. But it will only ruin your school year if you let it. There are things that you can do to avoid all of the drama. You should first choose your friends wisely, because these are probably the friends that you are going to stick with the rest of junior high. You should choose a group of friends that make you feel good about yourself and that accept you for who you are as a person. You obviously do not want to hang out with people that constantly make fun of you and continuously treat as the third wheel. You should also choose friends that will not negatively influence you in any way. But just because they’re your closest friends doesn’t mean that drama will not ensue between you and them. Sometimes your best friend is also your worst enemy, as my mom once told me. But I will tell you this. A strong friendship is one that can last through the toughest storms. Another thing you can do to avoid drama is not take what a person says to you too personally. We should also be careful about the things that we say to people. People will often say something offensive to someone and consider it as a joke. But the person that they said it to might not realize that they were joking, and their feelings might be hurt. That other person did not intend to hurt the person’s feelings whatsoever, but what they said still had a negative effect on that person. The situation may get so far to the point where it has officially become class drama. If you are careful with your words, you can lessen the chance of hurting someone’s feelings. If you learn to not take things personally, you won’t be offended or hurt as much. This is something that I’m still trying to learn, because it is actually hard to not take things personally. Lastly, you should never gossip or spread rumors. Nobody likes it when people talk behind their backs. Besides, it’s just going to come back to bite at you anyways. I have some of my own tips that I have picked up from personal experience that you should probably follow.
First of all, don’t over think something. Overthinking is going to make things more difficult than they actually are. If you overthink about the large amount of homework you have and convince yourself that it’s going to be extremely difficult for you to finish, then you’ll feel really stressed and overwhelmed. You should just do your assignments and tell yourself, “I’m going to finish this. I can get through this,” while you’re doing them. Don’t be too intimidated by junior high. Just think of it as another school year, where you’re going to learn even more than last year. Basically, middle school will not be hard unless you convince your mind that it’s hard. Finally, the last piece of advice I have for you is to enjoy your time and have fun in middle school. You are going to make a lot of friends and go on a lot of fun trips, including the 7th grade trip to Catalina and the 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. There are a lot of fun extra curricular activities to do, including drama club and yearbook committee. Try to make the best out of your time in junior
high. Ok I will admit it. Middle school is tough, and the amounts of homework you get can leave you exhausted. But you can get through it and survive. If you practice good study and academic techniques, doing your schoolwork will no longer seem as hard as it might be. If you figure out how to stay away from all of the drama, then that extra, unnecessary weight will be lifted off of your shoulders. And if you follow some of my personal advice, you’re sure to make it out of those three years alive. If all else fails, just remember that God is always there for you, and He can help you. As it says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
Making the transition from middle school to high school is a huge stepping stone in a teenager’s life. High school represents both the ending of a childhood and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a rite of passage and often many teens have the wrong impression when beginning this passage. Most began high school with learning the last thing on their mind. They come in looking for a story like adventure and have a false sense of reality created through fabricated movie plots acted out by fictional characters. In all actuality high school is nothing like you see in movies, television shows, or what you read about in magazines.
to read this. Middle school isnt bad, its good so enjoy every minute of it. If I could go back and change anything, there would be a lot of things I would
The transition from middle school to high school is an amazing journey, one which will finally bring out your true self. It’s a whole new experience of not only learning, but also the campus, students, and faculty. This turning point in our lives may seem like a very challenging journey if you don’t know what to do, but I already have a goal. To get into Victoria Park’s International Baccalaureate, also known as IB, program. My passion to learn is very strong, and I am looking forward to being in an atmosphere where many have the same mindset as I. I am a very balanced individual and enjoy being in various situations. I not only participate in academic clubs but also qualify to go to interschool sports teams. In my previous years, I have participated and qualified many
Since I'm coming to an end in my middle school years in a few months, I feel obligated to make a guide to help you youngsters transition to middle school, and even help people who are already in middle school, struggling! Hopefully these tips will help you in your three years of Hell on Earth. 1. What is the difference between a. and a. It's nothing like high school. I know, you're glad to get out of the same classroom all day, and that part is great, but don't think junior high is like senior high.
After high school majority of parents want their children to go to college, graduate, have a promising career and start a family and this is the American dream. Of course going to college will earn you a career and make you financial stable with certain jobs. To earn all those things you need to work even harder to achieve them. Going through four to eight years of college is exhausting and time consuming. There are a lot of stages you go through during college starting from high school. For me I can say that it has been a long journey but it is a well worth journey because of the reward I will receive in the end. In college financial aid, teachers, assignments, and classrooms are different from high school in a major way.
After almost one-hundred and eight days, the 2015-2016 school year is approaching an end. So far, I have concluded that middle school is basically like building a house. Before middle school has started, in fifth grade, the house only has the boards and the main skeleton of the whole structure. All of the basics are learned in elementary school: learning how to read, learning basic grammar, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, fractions, the founding of America, how plants create their food, etc., but by the time students reach sixth grade, new knowledge builds onto what is already known. Letters are added into the familiar math equations; stories are written with all of the reading and grammar knowledge; unfamiliar people, wars,
Albert Einstein once said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is it stupid.” Sir Ken Robinson stated that schools are destroying children 's creativity with their curriculum, there are many facts that support this idea. Students are required to think a specific way, prepare the way teachers want them to be prepared. Students also have their own opinion, because they are not afraid to be wrong, and need a way to move forward.
After a long summer, the time has finally come for Sam and his classmates to return to school. Sam dreads going back to school, because he knows that the first weeks of school mean long, boring reviews. Despite the fact that Sam and his friends do not like to relearn what they have already studied, they need to review because most students forget what they learned over the three-month break period. Many students can relate to Sam, wasting two weeks or more at the beginning of the school year. Parents, teachers and students across the United States believe a better option exists, that will waste less time, including the idea of a year-round school schedule. Higher academic achievement, benefits to the community and reduction in overcrowding
Middle school is the time of puberty for most. All of those awkward stages from blue eye shadow and silly popularity contests, all the way to bullying. When you’re this young you usually don’t know the impact your words
All of these reasons are my example of how eighth grade might be like.Like I said, it’s going to be scary at fist, then exciting, and last a educational year of school. You are not alone I will be there to trying to persue my goals, you are not going to be the only one.So looks like all of us got alot of work ahead of us.Make sure you have fun and remember to learn alot to graduate school.I know how you feel, you probably saying it’s going to be hard and boring. But it will pay off soon when you graduate and go to college. All the work you done will lead you to success and a exciting

One of the lessons I have learned from the last four years is organization. Organization is a good quality to have when it comes to school work. There will be days where you’ll shove papers into your bookbag in a hurry but it is always best to go back and organize all papers. Somedays I would lose many papers because I shoved them in my bag. This has caused me to stress over papers I could not find in order to turn in and that affected my grades. In my first year of high school it was very difficult to stay organized but I was able to complete the year organized. It wasn’t till the second half of my sophomore year that I started to lose the structure in my school work. Having good organization is not just having your supplies organized it having yourself together. Being organized will make you feel prepared for your classes and you feel like you have everything in
Being a teenager isn’t easy. You have a lot of things on your mind, a lot of things to worry about, a lot of things to carry and when I mean carry, I mean both physically and mentally. During the 17 years of my life that I have lived so far, I believe that I have never carried this much before. Part of it I think is because it’s senior year. Actually I think that 's the biggest reason why I feel so much pressure on my shoulders. I’m pretty sure that everyone can agree on this, especially if you’ve been through it before. I’m not talking to the adults of course because I know your lives are difficult and what not, but I’m mostly talking to the teens who are currently going through the same stage of life that I’m in right now. Now I’m not saying my life is difficult in any means because I know that I
Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
Teens today face a lot of pressure. Many students deal with difficult life situations that hinder them from focusing on their futures. This can lead to a loss of interest in school and school events, such as a sports, clubs, or after school programs. Teens start to prioritize other things over their education. Every year, over 1.2 million students will leave school without earning a high school diploma in the United States alone (“11”). That’s a student every 26 seconds – or 7,000 a day (“11”). The United States, which used to have the highest graduation rates of any country, now ranks 22nd out of 27 developed countries (“11”). Students may not realize that by dropping out of high school they are more likely to commit crimes, become parents at a young age, use and abuse alcohol and drugs, and live in poverty (“Drop”). Dropouts make up the majority of those
