The personality type I was given with this personality test was the type “ESFJ” which is ‘The Caregiver”. The description of this is surprisingly very accurate to my morals and ethics I have been raised with. I learned that my primary role in life is focused externally where I deal with things according to how I feel about them or how they fit in with my value system. This means that I have a need or a want to be liked. Now, this doesn’t mean I try too hard to be liked and go to the extreme to get attention; this just means that being liked and looked at, as a positive figure is very important to me. I’m in no way like a person that thinks, “I don’t care what they think of me”, because I believe that your reputation to other people is a very important aspect. Another spot in description that is right on with myself is that I have a very strong, well-formed idea about the way things should be and I’m not afraid of expressing my opinions. This was also referred to as The Advocate which I thought was very appropriate for our assingment. The results state that The Advocate has a strong sense of morality, likes finding solutions for others and one of the strengths listed was that this personality type makes excellent counselors. This type is known for seeing through manipulation and dishonesty and getting to the heart of matters with truth and sincerity. I can see that all of these personality traits are crucial for helping others and dealing with the conflict that arises when advocating for those who are oppressed and face discrimination. Some of the weaknesses stated for this personality type are perfectionist, impatient, extremely private, sensitive, and burn out easily. As I read the weaknesses, I realized that I need to keep self care a priority throughout my education and future career. It also makes sense that a lot of my self care practices are about introspection and finding balance. My Keirsey Temperament Sorter results indicate my personality type is that of a Guardian and make-up about 40 – 50 percent of the population. Guardians use their skills to keep everything running smoothly, have a lot of fun with family and friends, but serious when it comes to responsibilities. Characteristics include dependable, humble, trustworthy, loyal, helpful, hardworking, and stabilizing leaders. I’m the type of person that follows schedules and deadlines, but also likes to have fun and enjoy life. There should be a balance, and like the saying goes, work hard and play hard.

Five major aspects that psychology focuses on are mental activity, behavior, critical thinking, social interaction and emotional processes. Mental activity allows us to use our five senses to perceive our surroundings. Our behavior is how we react to the information we receive about our surroundings. Critical thinking that helps us evaluate information to find a sensible, well-supported conclusion. Social interaction allows us to communicate with others while emotional processes helps us understand and effectively integrate our emotions in our daily lives.
The Big Five Personality Test provided an interesting account of my personality. Although the majority of the results were accurate, I was surprised by two of the outcomes. According to this test, I am a closed-minded, unmethodical, social butterfly that is well-mannered towards others and composed under pressure (John, 2009). First, the results were completely accurate as I am extremely extroverted. I never meet a stranger, and I carry on conversations with anyone. From the custodian, to the cashier, to a random person on the street, it gives me a great sense of fulfillment to engage in dialogue with others from all walks of life. For example, when I researched my personality type on www.16personalities.com it said that I was patient and had the ability to concentrate. I am very impatient and I am easily distracted especially when under stress. Other than those two descriptions I think that these tests really helped me further understand my personality. I do hope to change a few things about myself in the future. I want to be more caring and open to people. I do not want to give off any bad impressions to anyone any more than I already have. I believe that if I began to trust people more my personality would change tremendously. Overall, I really enjoyed both of these tests. I hope to take more time out to research more about my personality just to see if anything changes over time.
The Myers Briggs test is a complex way of figuring out your personality type. When the Myers Briggs test gives you your personality test answers there are 4 letters that are given. There are 16 different possible types of personality. The definition of the Myers Briggs test is a “widely-used personality inventory, or test, employed in vocational, educational, and psychotherapy settings to evaluate personality type in adolescents and adults” (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). The test is a series of questions that ask you about your daily life and how you act. It is mainly used to assess student learning style (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).

I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
I think overall the test was very accurate in describing my personality type. I am a nurturer, kind-hearted, and want to believe the best in people. The portrait of ISFJ’s was spot on, however, I disagree with some of the relationship weaknesses. They described my personality to be very emotionally needy, with a difficult time leaving a bad relationship, or moving on from an ended relationship. I have to disagree with this because I feel I am the type of person that once you lose my trust in a relationship, I am done with trying to make that relationship work. I believe that these test if taken truthfully can identify deficiencies that individuals can work on to benefit not only themselves but others in the organizations that they work in.
