Since early school years, I blended my passion for mathematics with my love for sports. My passion for math, and as a result for computer science, helped me score near perfect scores in these two subjects in my twelfth grade. In the same way, my passion for sports helped me win many prizes in state-level chess competitions. Quite naturally my passion for computing made me pursue information technology for my undergraduate engineering majors. As I began my professional life after graduating, I blended my interests in software development with my love for mountaineering. I scaled many treacherous mountains and managed to achieve the highest Himalayan climb of 15750 feet. Thus, a perfect mix of academic, professional and physical activities has …show more content…
In the third year, subjects of databases, web technologies and software engineering helped me discover my interests in software development. I took special efforts to learn programming tools and languages used in developing web applications. I got the right opportunity to implement my learning when I did a team–project to develop a web-based on-line banking system using Java framework. Through this project I became adept in designing databases and front-end screens and developing programs to integrate the UI layer with backend database. I underwent one week in-plant training at HCL where I got knowhow on the IT infrastructure covering hardware and software platforms, networking and system administration. This orientation helped me clearly understand the concepts learned in the computer networks course and motivated me to carry out my final-year project in this area. As a team of four, we ideated on the possibility of maintaining multiple paths in wireless sensor networks which, though having some overheads, had advantages of load balancing, fault tolerance, bandwidth aggregation and reduced delay. I took responsibility for developing special algorithms to showcase improvement in performance and reduced path
sports I play and take it beyond that to practice it during my free time to be the best I can.
I have a great affection for math. I enjoy math, since it is challenging and requires a lot of thinking. There are always multiple ways to solve any type of math problems, and I always get a feeling of accomplishment when I find the correct solution. In sixth grade, when I first heard of the Math Club, I immediately registered. The teacher told me that I was the only one and she needed more members or the club would have to be cancelled. Worried, I recruited about ten of my friends to join the Math Club. Hence, she named me as the team leader. Participants in the Math Club competed in multiple math competitions. I was chosen one of the ten students that represented my school at the Torrance Regional Middle School Math Competition. That year, I received a certificate for the highest point total for the Math Olympiads competition at my school. In addition, I placed third in the AMC 8 and my score was among the top five percent of all participants. Participating in math competitions has given me the challenges that I am always looking for, taught me good study habits, and how to handle pressure.
I designed a program in Java which when executed, assumes the role of a company’s payroll system. It allows the company t...
I’ve always been the type of person that truly enjoys athletics and have participated in nearly all sports offered to me. I started playing sports in elementary with club softball and basketball. As I entered my middle and high school years I was able to add the school sanctioned sports to my list of activities. This afforded me the opportunity of competing in volleyball, basketball, golf, track and softball. The camaraderie and life lessons of sports seemed invaluable to me.
As an athlete I followed two sports I had a deep passion for, football and rugby. The only two sports where my intensity and rough mindset would fit perfectly.
In the class I learned networking, trouble shooting skills and how network appliances work. To my amazement throughout the course I was getting a good understanding about the course material. Towards the end of my Junior year we as students were allowed to take a nation wide certification certifying us to work in I T networking. I decided to take the challenge and I passed the exam. I got the highest exam score in my class and I got my Comp Tia Network+ certification finishing off the
I still vividly remember the time during my graduation, when I was successful in creating a simple calculator application as a class assignment. The joy I derived from creating something that is used by a lot of people to help them perform complex calculations, made me realize the power of computing in its true sense. It was also in my graduation that I developed an immense interest in programming languages such as Java, C++ and also web technologies such as ASP, JSP, and XHTML.
Being employee with Accenture was an eye opener for me, and then I found my inclination towards information system and bu...
I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. These courses have given me a good foundation in the core concepts. My interest lies in Database Management, Programming Languages, Theory of Computation, and Software Engineering. I am fully acquainted with the fast growing subjects like Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design. On the other hand, the intensive laboratory classes exposed me to a fascinating world of experimentation. It was here that I discovered the qualities of perseverance and diligence in myself. I feel that these courses have done a lot to prepare me for my future studies and research work.
We hiked steep mountains till our legs ached and our feet were blistered. At the top all we got was a good view, sometimes clouded over, and a sense of accomplishment. From that point forward, I have wanted to see amazing natural phenomenons that I earned through physical as well as mental challenges. A desire for earning through challenges fuels me
My interest in Information Systems Management was drawn when I was working on my final year project at Maharashtra Institute of Technology under the able guidance of the head of the Computer Engineering department. Professor R. K. Bedi’s support provided a much needed boost to my confidence in my programming skills. This new found confidence, in conjunction with the organization management skills I had acquired through active participation in extracurricular activities like “Tesla”, in inter college programming fest, made me realize I wanted to pursue a program that had comprised a blend of both the computer science and management disciplines.
I was dumbfounded to know that games are nothing but programs. Curious to know how to program I developed a serious interest in Computers. This keen interest in mathematics along with a strong liking for computers, and particularly programming, prompted me to choose engineering with Computer Science as my major. This decision gave me ample opportunity to consolidate my creative energies and harness my technical
my hard work ethic. It taught me that to be able to work in a team
My passion for both software and hardware behind it stems from having been fortunate enough to be introduced to it at a young age. What may have originally been a simple fondness for video games developed into a curiosity regarding the nuts and bolts of the computer and a dedication to improve them. Subsequently, I plan to pursue software engineering in the future.
...curate and working piece of scientific software by a deadline, forcing me to learn how to deal with it all on the fly. I now feel immensely more prepared to take on any project, and far more accustomed to academia, having taken my first steps down the path of research.
