Graphic design first awakened my interest when I was given the task of creating an effective logo design that represents myself. I was captivated as I have always been eager to express myself through my own visual language using colour and form. Graphic design is my idea of liberation, allowing me to explore my creative thoughts to create a design that impacts our everyday lives. I began to notice and value design that surrounds me on a daily basis and looked deeper into the messages they aesthetically hold. I am particularly drawn to the diversity of graphic design as a discipline and potential career. Pursuing this discipline will allow me to exercise my creativity and grow as an artist.]
I am inspired by elaborate designs with eye-popping colours, for example, the work of Chris LaBrooy. LaBrooy uses a variety of vibrant colours in his work that wouldn't normally sit well together, however with the use of white space he manages to create harmony within his designs that catch the eye.

As part of this course I am studying various disciplines such as, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Photography, Printmaking, Life Drawing and Community Art. Each subject has individually helped me gain valuable skills which will benefit me in the field of graphic design. Studying Photography and Printmaking has been highly beneficial to me and my future in design as they are both essential elements in a designers daily work. I now have a great understand of how to create appealing compositions and how to produce a variety of prints. Ceramics and Life drawing have helped me understand form and shape which are basic formal elements which are needed in all aspects of design. During my Community Art lesson I was required to produce an innovative design for a bridge. This experience will be valuable to me in the future when I have to work with clients to create an aesthetically pleasing but relevant
My perseverance has prepared me for a career in medicine. The path towards becoming a physician can be long and challenging, necessitating the ability to endure. My ability to bounce back from setbacks and mistakes has solidified throughout my journey. One of the cornerstone experiences of my personal development occurred during high school. My determination led to me my graduating as valedictorian of my class, while balancing three varsity sports and several extracurricular activities. In addition, I worked on weekends to help support my family financially. This persistence resulted in scholarship awards that made higher education a possibility.
My best (and favorite) subject in school is Math. Ever since I was very little I have loved math, and worked very hard at it. When I do not fully understand topics I do extra problems to make sure that they become clear to me. I spend a lot of time working on math to make sure I understand the topics throughly. I have been in math clubs since 4th grade, and in 7th grade I represented my school at the MathCounts® competition where I won a two silver pins. I won the Virginia State Math Award in 7th grade, and this year I got an 800 in math on my SSAT. As a result of my hard work I am currently one of three students in my school to be in the highest math group, Precalculus.

1. At CoBA, we place great importance in values, initiative and professionalism. Describe one example of how you have demonstrated these qualities.
Through my work in environmental compliance with petroleum retailers, I developed a strong interest in pursuing innovative solutions to environmental problems. My professional experience in environmental and health hazard mitigation at Environmental Compliance Services, Inc. was rewarding; however, I concluded that a career in the business-environment nexus aligned more closely to my future goals. With my skill set and interests, I aim to improve the processes and cultures of corporations and governments. In this career path, I have the best opportunity to positively influence the effective utility and conservation of scarce resources. An MBA at the Fuqua School of Business will equip me with the tools necessary to understand the needs of industry, commerce, and advancement—along with the desire to conserve the environment in a just way. I will gain expertise in business strategy, sustainability, and financial tools that, when coupled with my Nicholas School degree, will allow me to analyze private sector opportunities in the energy landscape.
SHARE YOUR HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCES AND ASPIRATIONS FOR THE FUTURE I have been very fortunate to attend XXXl High School for the past four years. Throughout high school, I have been an active member of my high school’s community through my participation in clubs and sports. As a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Chinese Honor Society, and the Co-President of Art Club, my commitment to these clubs has prompted me to take part in service projects to promote art and scholarship in the community. In National Art Honor Society, I have taken part in service projects to engage the community in art by sponsoring children’s crafts that coincided with XXX’s theatre productions, host art workshops for children, and make baby blankets for the Hyannis BabyCenter.
A good curator has the potential to shape a person’s approach to art and culture. In 2011, Andrew Bolton’s stunning presentation of fashion as art, in ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ opened my eyes to the work of a designer that would become the backbone to the majority of my undergraduate study. Aged 18, I traveled to New York where I visited the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Four years later, when ‘Savage Beauty’ was showing once again - this time at the V&A, curated by Claire Wilcox - I wrote my dissertation on the complex relationship between art and fashion through a detailed analysis of the exhibition which gave me my biggest passion.
I acquired a B grade for A-level textiles and was commended for my excellent coursework as my creativeness shone in my writing and presentation of ideas and designs. I consider these attributes of mine i...
Before taking this course, I did not have much exposure to art and its principles. I take this class and its assignments as a learning opportunity. This trip exposed me to a new way of analyzing art. I learned to appreciate creativity more for its artistic properties rather than entertainment.

Art is the subject I have grown up with and has become my passion from a young age. As I have gotten older my love for art has grown, as well as my skills. In second year I realised that it was something I wanted to pursue in the future, art is now the main component of my personality and my life. Art is something which captivates me because it is a way to express myself which is unique to me which is why I want to study Fine Art. The flexibility in the Fine Art course is an area which I have had an interest in because it has a flexible use of media, this appeals to me as it allows me to explore themes without having set boundaries whilst experimenting with different media and techniques that I am not yet confident with.
Personal statement I have always had a great interest in Art, this is why I contribute in many art related workshops and trips such as opening days, life drawing classes, sketchbook workshops, museum trips and exhibitions etc to enhance my knowledge thus improving my skills to be able to develop more captivating art work. I have always shown how passionate I am during Art classes and during my free time, I am a very hard working student that always pay 100% effort in all my work and would do anything to reach the deadline on time, even if it means devoting all my time to it. This reflects the commitment and the dedication I have towards Art. I have been travelling a lot since I was little, due to this, I was given a chance to explore many
Creativity and imagination are undoubtedly at the top of the life. This trait is helpful as when doing projects in class and beyond that require creativity, I feel right at home. Recently in English class, we had to complete a project on allusions and their specific meanings. I found this to be quite intriguing because I was able to decorate the project and made it personal to me. This will help me in maintaining independence because when I get to college or eventually enter the workforce, I will more than likely have to do certain projects which require my creativity. Additionally, I enjoy creating art, learning more about it, and to make things that I feel express who I am as a person. Last year, I finally got to be in an actual art class; moreover, I got to create art about what I wanted and not do it for something or someone else. I know that this will help me in life, because if I’m doing something for me and not for someone else, I will feel more passionate about it which will help further my
My inspirations are focus on mostly the graphics designing, although I have chosen to do applied art and design as a A levels subject I would like to discover the graphic designing in more detailed and depth and in future hope to do an idea which would be a applied art and design the graphics.
