SHARE YOUR HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCES AND ASPIRATIONS FOR THE FUTURE I have been very fortunate to attend XXXl High School for the past four years. Throughout high school, I have been an active member of my high school’s community through my participation in clubs and sports. As a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Chinese Honor Society, and the Co-President of Art Club, my commitment to these clubs has prompted me to take part in service projects to promote art and scholarship in the community. In National Art Honor Society, I have taken part in service projects to engage the community in art by sponsoring children’s crafts that coincided with XXX’s theatre productions, host art workshops for children, and make baby blankets for the Hyannis BabyCenter. As a sophomore, I joined Art Club because I thought creating art was fun and relaxing. If it wasn’t for Art Club, I would have never learned how to make ceramics or know how to use the potter’s wheel. Since then, I have become proficient enough to make bowls to donate for the Organization of Soup Bowls for Hunger every year. Being involved in these clubs has led to me devote time to give back to my community. For …show more content…
As a future engineer, it is my goal to work abroad to develop clean energy sources and combine renewable energy production with existing power systems to help save the environment. I traveled on my sister’s adoption trip and experienced severe air pollution in China. It equipped me with a sense of purpose to act on this issue. I hope to engineer sustainable technologies, such as solar farms and tidal power to convert Earth’s natural resources into electricity. In response to climate change, I want to optimize renewable energy systems to decrease the industry’s reliance on fossil fuels. Just as I plan to have a successful career, I hope to spend my life doing the things I
People say high school is supposed to be the golden years of your life. I don’t know what else in life is to come; however, my philosophy is to live in the moment and make the life you’re living in the present worthwhile into the future, not only for you but for those who surround you. I live my life participating in our community and getting involved in our school. The activities, and the people I’ve formed relationships with, are what have formed me into the person I have become today. The person I am today is not perfect, but I have learned from the mistakes I’ve made. I think the sense of maturity I have developed throughout my life has given me the determination to be the best person I can be. That being said, I would love to be inducted into the National Honor Society and not only represent our school, but represent our generation to the community not as a “selfie” generation but as a generation, with great potential.
With the help of the Me To We team at Queen Street Public School, I volunteered at a local food bank. The experience was quite educational and fascinating. We encouraged staff and students to donate non-perishable food items for the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. This was definitely a highlight of my grade five year because I felt very humble and warm-hearted by doing a simple act of kindness. In addition, I was chosen to participate in the "Intergenerational" program. This was created so that grade five students can learn more from the elders of the Burton Manor senior home. We had the privilege to learn about their history and interact with them through several educational and fun activities. If accepted, I will indeed join several clubs and teams to contribute my time and talents to make the school an exciting learning
I do not dream of becoming a famous idol or a millionaire. I dream of being able to achieve goals that will impact my life and the rest of the world. Four stressful years, 28 credits, and innumerable hours of no sleep. I will walk across the stage and receive my diploma with a grin of accomplishment. I am proud to share that I will be the first high school graduate in my family's generation, but I do not want to settle for a high school diploma;
As my high school career ends, I notice increasingly how much life that I have yet to live and the opportunities available to me in the years ahead. The past four years have been great preparation for my future endeavors, but college is the path leading to my full potential. In order to reach the end of this path, I utilize my most valuable trait—determination—to set short and long-term goals and achieve them. It is with this “can do” spirit—like the one my grandpa, a former Navy Seabee, evinces through his stories—that I have set my personal goals: to volunteer my time in service to others, further develop leadership skills through experiential learning, and excel at my school work no matter how challenging it may seem. Though these may be difficult to maintain, I have faith that my optimistic attitude will enable me to prevail over the challenges I am certain to face.
Widened with amazement, my eyes watched as my fingers swirled the blobs of red and blue paint into a deep purple. The smell of tempera paint and wet wood-chips surrounded me that rainy day in the small playground of De Colores pre-school. I vividly remember feeling that astounded thrice more; first, when I roamed the aisles of Michael’s craft store for the first time, secondly, when I perfected my favorite shrimp dish, and lastly after my first psychology course. Though I have had countless positive and exciting experiences, I have also had some pretty impactful negative ones. Dropping out of high school was the biggest blessing in disguise of my life. It led to my enrollment in a concurrent enrollment program at a local community college that changed my life, through which I met some resilient people that I will always remember. Art therapy is my number one career choice and the Master of Arts in Art Therapy program at Notre Dame de Namur University
When I entered my first year of college, I decided to pursue psychology as a major because I was interested in how people’s minds affect how they behave and their personalities. Despite not taking psychology classes in high school, I had a pretty good experience in knowing what was going on around my friends by observing their behavior, the tone in their voice, or actions, and I’ve learned to develop skills in offering good advice to them. It seemed useful to apply my skills to academics. However, I aspired to be more than just a regular psychologist. I wanted to find a deeper, interesting, and creative method that can help people who suffered personal issues, such as relationships and disorders.
Throughout my entire future, I will make sure to strive and push forward with everything I do as much as I possibly
Fashion club also allowed me to do something I love, which is giving back to people who are less fortunate. This year I created a donation clothing drive that not only the members of fashion club could donate, but as well as my fellow classmates and even the faculty and staff. By getting the school to rally up for a greater cause we can help the about 58,790 homeless people living in Los Angeles alone and less fortunate living in Southern
My first year at GRA was coincidentally this year making this my last. I may not have been here long but of course, compared to my old school and within the events of my 7th grade school year, this has evidently been the best and worst school year of my life. From Kindergarten all the way until 8th grade my elementary and middle school experience has been vice and unconscionable, to say the least, but of course, within all the faults and terror that was and unfortunately still is my middle school experience there still are quite a few things about this school and my old school that still positively resonate within me that keeps me moving forward and looking (almost) positively toward my artistic future.
In the face of this impending crisis, I feel that my generation must make a large-scale investment in the utilization of renewable energy and work for the preservation of our planet’s resources. In the interest of my future family, my country, and for every rising leader of our world, I am strongly moved by the importance of this issue. The most important part of my senior year has been the opportunity to make a real contribution to the search for an energy solution. I am currently interning in the Aerospace Transportation and Advanced Systems department at Georgia Tech Research Institute.
The unsustainable nature of fossil fuels as an energy source, from the point of view of future availability and environmental impact, has spurred an interest in diversification of energy sources, with particular interest in renewable energy. The photovoltaic (PV) industry is a player...
Through these activities, I have realized that I can positively impact others’ lives, through seemingly small acts. I learned this by sharing a hobby of mine with others: arts
Over these past two years, I have gained a lot of valuable life experiences through the many extra-curricular activities I have engaged in. I have been able to develop my creativity, maintain active, and serve the community in numerous ways. As an individual and a learner, I have strived and succeeded in being an inquirer, knowledgeable, a thinker, a communicator, principled, open-minded, caring, a risk-taker, balanced, and reflective. These experiences and qualities are highly substantial and I will cherish and strive to improve them in the many years to come.
The push to become less reliant on fossil fuels powering our society is becoming more and more urgent. Fossils such as coal can cause severe air pollution and oil poses major threats to the environment, with the possibility of oil spills. Developing a dependence on renewable energies, such as solar, wind, or biofuels, holds a vast amount of importance because of the rate at which fossil fuels have caused the environment to deteriorate. In order to prevent the damage of fossil fuels, innovations and inventions are constantly developing and changing within renewable resources. Wind energy or wind power defines the process in which, wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity.
