Orlando Museum Experience

On Sunday September 7, 2014 I visited the Orlando Museum of Art. This was my very first time attending a museum in Florida. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every bit of it. I have always been a systematic person and everything I did was somewhat structured, perhaps it is because I always had a scientific approach. Recently, I came across art which opened my eyes to being creative and it also significantly shifted my preference on artwork. Before taking this course, I did not have much exposure to art and its principles. I take this class and its assignments as a learning opportunity. This trip exposed me to a new way of analyzing art. These floor plans included the following: contemporary art, abstract painting, sculptures and many other elements. What I enjoyed the most was various artists’ ability to master their skills and expressions. Another amazing aspect of the art viewed at the Orlando Museum of Art, was the ability to teach us and further guide our own imagination. Art can teach us how to problem solve, art may also teach us passion and reassure us that it is okay to be different. What stood out to me the most is that art is a medium that teaches us history and self-expression. Art is crucial for education as well as inspiration. The "Portraits and People in American Life" is an exhibit that depicts the lives, struggles and sometimes the joyfulness of certain people and/or their families. The technique and the tremendous experience, planning and talent of these artists, took my breath. Even the smallest of the smallest lines had a deep meaning; it was almost like photography as opposed to paint. These pieces of artwork resonated with me the most.
