I am interested in a residence life position not for what it shall bring me, but for what I can possibly do to help others. I have seen the Resident Assistants in my hall, Grier, helping the residents and I would love to be able to make a difference in someone’s life as I see them doing everyday. Specifically, I have seen how Kayla Beadles has been able to help others as well as myself by creating a warm environment that has made it extremely easier to assimilate into college life. I hope that by being a Resident Assistant, I can inspire those in my hall the same way that I have been. I believe that the role of a Resident Assistant is a dynamic one. On the one hand, the position calls for a positive and approachable individual, of which I believe I am, so that the RA may be able to help his/her residents by giving emotional support so that the resident may better assimilate into college. However, a Resident Assistant must also appear clearly as a leader who …show more content…
deserves authority and must not be afraid to reprimand those who are not giving Monmouth College the respect that it deserves through their actions. While, Resident Assistants are on duty on their own, I have a clear understanding of the fact that Res Life is a group effort and if hired, I plan to work as effectively and efficiently as possible with the rest of my staff. I believe that I already have experience in promoting a positive diverse community in Grier Hall through my actions as Hall Council President.
I have done this by having group bonding activities often as well as appearing warm and welcoming to all, especially those who do not appear at our activities in order to make them feel included at all times. If made a Resident Assistant, I plan to go further than this and try to encourage the residents to open their doors more often in order to appear more welcoming to each other. I will also keep working hard on inventive group bonding activities. I find that more work can always be done in order to create lasting bonds between residents. Most importantly, I have grown to understand that even though we refer to our residence halls as our dorm, or simply “school”, the truth of the matter is that these residence halls and the college itself, is our home. Above all else, I hope to bring every sense of the word into reality for any future residents that I may
have.
As a second year Pathologists’ Assistant student at Indiana University School of Medicine, I am writing to express my interest in the Pathologists’ Assistant position. I believe that this position is ideal for me because my internship at Montefiore was the first step in me become a Pathologists’ Assistant. Through this internship, I was able to obtain the knowledge on how to become a PA, what a PA does, and it solidified any question on whether I wanted to be a PA.
Working with different people is one of things I am excited about being a RA. As I met different people with different cultures, beliefs and worked together in the past, I am certain I know how to interact with them. These experiences taught me how to interact people different from me flexibly, how to withstand pressure and how to use differences as strength. Moreover I have taken several leadership positions before so benefits from those positions would be useful in becoming a RA. A resident assistant should always be caring and protective of his residents. He has to guide them so that they could live in a happy but safe environment. That is what I did when I went to Japan. As I was given the role of leader, I tried to live up to it. So I know the responsibilities of being a leader and how to make decisions for the sake of the team. I think these past experiences would prepare me for this position.
I find myself privileged as I am the first generation from my family to complete Bachelor Degree. Therefore, "reaching perfection through adversity" is what inspired my journey of Physician Assistant studies. I am originally from small South-Asian country called Nepal, where I completed my High School education with science major. As a science student, I was always curious to know the cause, symptoms, prevention, and precaution of diseases. Unconsciously, I was trying to pursue medical profession. With a strong desire to help community and undeserved population, I got associated with organizations like: Red Cross and Rotary International during my High School education where I worked as a volunteer. These further strengthen my endeavor to pursue career in medical sector.
Becoming a Medical Assistant believe it or not is an awesome career. Being able to be on the inside and handling emergency hands on is what I will be experiencing. Medical Assistants overall have many job duties and I might add if you are a busy person and you have the urge to help others, then this job is for you. Overall, the objective is to point out the duties, various opportunities and what you will be able to accomplish in the role as a Medical Assistant.
I would plan weekly activities to bring everyone together, to help students make friends and network their way around campus. People can learn so much from each other, and just bring them together would create a positive environment. I would also personally met and get to know each resident to create a relationship, that way they would feel comfortable with letting me know if they
In her first year as a Resident Assistant, Andrea Robinson received a Christmas card from a resident named Charlotte, thanking her for helping Charlotte adjust to her new life at college. Robinson recalled that Charlotte was overcome with homesickness, as many first time students can be, and to help boost her spirits, she went with Charlotte to an opening week picnic. That made a huge difference for Charlotte and her gratitude she conveyed in the card. But the message had an extra meaning to Robinson. “I was just doing my job,” Robinson said. But knowing the difference she had made to Charlotte, she asked, “Why wouldn’t anyone want to do this for the rest of their life?”
Mrs. Callaway has been my advocate for returning to school also. She sees in me what I do not see in myself at times. This is what I strive to be, I want to be that nurse that can help others return to school to pursue their dreams and goals. To walk in the steps of this amazing lady, would be a wonderful dream come true. To have the patience and dedication that she posses would be spectacular. I would love to run the unit as she does, without many nurse turn-overs. I would also like to run a unit where patients and families return to the unit just to say? thank-you?. I want to be able to perform small task, such as helping my co-workers with an I.V. or a large task, such as admitting patients for another nurse. I want to be accountable and
Teaching means more than just giving students information about a subject. Teaching is about building relationships, and finding ways to support students in their pursuit for learning. Support can be both in the classroom (or the setting where the learning takes place), and outside of this realm. I have gained skills pertinent to support and relationship building throughout my experiences as a resident assistant, peer advisor and a peer tutor.
At Miami University, I have been able to demonstrate my leadership and interpersonal skills within several positions and organizations. As a Resident Assistant, I organize and facilitate monthly personal, cultural, and professional development programs for my 45 residents as well as 200+ other sorority women. In my position as an RA, I also collaborated with 6 other residence life professionals to promote academic excellence, addresses residents' needs, and encourage interactions
For a year and half after my graduation in December 2014, I have taken the time to strengthen my application. I worked as a dental assistant at Dr. Veroncia Chang’s office and Berkeley Orinda Oral Surgery to gain hands-on experience and better understanding of the profession. While working part-time, I took 21 units of upper division biology courses at UC Berkeley Extension to raise my undergraduate GPA and to equip myself better with broader biological knowledge. Furthermore, I retook my DAT and improved on both of the academic average and total science scores (AA 23, TS 25). Volunteer opportunities at the Lawrence Hall of Science and YWCA were both very rewarding times to stay connected to the local community.
An administrative assistant must be able to handle stress, multitask, and work well under pressure. There are multiple jobs that the administrative medical assistant is responsible for, such as, answering the phone, being able to use computer applications, triaging phone calls with the permission of the physician, scheduling appointments, filing patient charts, collecting money, filing insurance claims and medical coding. When answering a call, greeting a patient, or writing a letter they must do so in a professional matter. They must also have good communication skills and a good personality and be familiar with medical terminology and medical coding, and be able to help patients with their best of knowledge. Depending on the facility they work on, they may occasionally need to assistant in the back with taking vital signs, translation, if they are bilingual, or with patient education, as directed by the doctor. In other words, administrative medical assistants have many occupations while working in the front
Through many different organizations I have taken on leadership roles in the past and have lots of experiences in various types of leadership roles. I feel by being a Residential Assistant
< 350 Words per response Resident Advisors serve in a variety of roles in their community. What experiences have you had that prepared you for the RA role? Through those experiences, what have you learned about yourself that makes you a strong RA candidate?
With the transition from a secondary to a post-secondary BIG 10 institution, arises the biggest demand of adjustment academically and most important socially. Not to mention, the first couple of days, even weeks for residents can be intimidating; but it’s important to guarantee their safety from the outset. The incorporation of the specialized living community in the resident halls facilitates the residents to build a community with ease. Throughout the process, the Resident Advisor plays a variety of major roles. From constant communication to developing a personal relationship with residents to being the front line of housing, the Resident Advisor answers questions any residents should pose and ensures the safety and co-existence of residents.
It became easier to learn everyone names and be recognize from the staff. I enjoyed my time working at welcome home that I decided to continue volunteer until the summer semester start. Some of the concerns I had when volunteering was getting in the way of the residents. At times it was
