With the transition from a secondary to a post-secondary BIG 10 institution, arises the biggest demand of adjustment academically and most important socially. Not to mention, the first couple of days, even weeks for residents can be intimidating; but it’s important to guarantee their safety from the outset. The incorporation of the specialized living community in the resident halls facilitates the residents to build a community with ease. Throughout the process, the Resident Advisor plays a variety of major roles. From constant communication to developing a personal relationship with residents to being the front line of housing, the Resident Advisor answers questions any residents should pose and ensures the safety and co-existence of residents.
In a Living Learning Community (LLC), the Resident Advisor enforces many housing policy. To put it another way, an RA in the specialized community of Substance Free Snyder ensures that the resident hall is free of illicit drugs. Similarly, in Exploration/Weston, the residents have the opportunity to spontaneous and get involved with the aid of RAs. To carry out the responsibilities efficiently, an individual should have top-notch communication skills. In detail, an efficient RA should not lack interpersonal

With this in mind, my success in earlier work experiences is due to my strong communication and interpersonal skills. I believe that my earlier work experiences have enhanced my ability to work in teams and independently which will fit well with the paraprofessional position. Being a Resident Advisor in a specialized living community will enable me to contribute my excellent communication, creativity, time management and flexibility
I am interested in a residence life position not for what it shall bring me, but for what I can possibly do to help others. I have seen the Resident Assistants in my hall, Grier, helping the residents and I would love to be able to make a difference in someone’s life as I see them doing everyday. Specifically, I have seen how Kayla Beadles has been able to help others as well as myself by creating a warm environment that has made it extremely easier to assimilate into college life. I hope that by being a Resident Assistant, I can inspire those in my hall the same way that I have been.
While doing my observations, at the outpatient and inpatient settings, I confirmed this is a career suited for my personality and abilities, where you get to teach patients how to recover and start from the beginning, and
In her first year as a Resident Assistant, Andrea Robinson received a Christmas card from a resident named Charlotte, thanking her for helping Charlotte adjust to her new life at college. Robinson recalled that Charlotte was overcome with homesickness, as many first time students can be, and to help boost her spirits, she went with Charlotte to an opening week picnic. That made a huge difference for Charlotte and her gratitude she conveyed in the card. But the message had an extra meaning to Robinson. “I was just doing my job,” Robinson said. But knowing the difference she had made to Charlotte, she asked, “Why wouldn’t anyone want to do this for the rest of their life?”
The first step in deciding what practice setting and clinical model that I would prefer. I did research and decided that a primary care provider would fit my career goals. A primary care nurse practitioner is defined as a nurse that works in a practice setting that has "the provision of integrated, accessible health care services by clinicians who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health needs, developing sustained partnerships with patients, and practicing in the context of family and community" (Anderson & O’Grady, 2009, p. 383). I believe my past and future education, along with my years of clinical experience, has prepared me to take a novice role as a NP in this care setting. When I graduate and I am working in a clinical practice setting, I look forward to continuing my education through my practice through formal and informal training.
Over the course of this class I feel like I have become a much better writer. When I go back and look at some of my Journal entries and assignments that I did at the beginning of the semester, I can’t help but tense up at some of the things I wrote. Sometimes the things I was writing didn’t flow well, or I might have even have missed glaring grammar mistakes.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.

They know when the RA puts in the effort in a program or not. “He was pretty cool and chill, but he didn’t do a lot of activities for us.” Maria, a former resident in Middle Earth, states as she reflects when she lived in the dorms her first year and thinks about her own Resident Advisor, Ed. “For example, during Mother’s day he gave us just pens and told us to make a bouquet out of it. I always had class and couldn’t make most of them anyway. I still liked him.” That is a predicament that many Resident Advisors face, making a program where their residents go, and estimating how many will go or
My chosen profession is Healthcare Administration. Healthcare Administrators plan, direct, and coordinate health and medical services in many organizations. However the significance, and the confidence that I have managed to maintain as a stylist and a member of my community, I am certain that I could contribute very positively in the human services field. I am comfortable around the public and have been a shoulder “to cry on” for years. I try to practice professionalism as expected and develop relationships that I truly appreciate. I am hopeful and anticipate that things will go well for me, my fellow students and with our future clients.
I feel that I am now growing in knowledge, experience and confidence, and that I am becoming more aware of my own beliefs and values, and also how they affect my nursing experience, and those of others. Finally, with regards to this placement, I must mention my most satisfying experience of my nursing career so
I will need to keep assessing myself and setting new goals as the nursing profession and workplace are continuously changing. It will be necessary to be conversant with the environment before deciding how I will use my skills and experience to benefit myself and the society. I will keep scanning my surrounding environment to establish the most beneficial way to use my skills and experience.
The internship that I acquired during the summer of 2010 at the Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehabilitation Center (GSIRC), allowed me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience during my tenure at this facility. Within this period, the exposure to new concepts within the physical therapy industry allowed me to observe and work hands on with patients of all ages and disabilities that exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to restore client’s mobility. The essential Physical Education and Exercise Science (PEES) courses taken at Lander University were beneficial to my academic knowledgebase, which prepared me and developed me for the opportunity within the physical therapy discipline. Working as an intern taught me the responsibility of time management and working within a lean schedule that allow me to further develop my skill set. This reflection paper will illustrate my classroom experience, internship experience, and learning experience.
During this training I learned the best way to assist people while walking and getting from sitting to standing. I also learned how to operate transfer equipment such as hoists and slings. I feel that my time at the nursing home inspired me further to pursue a career in nursing. I am also taking part in a HNC Care and Administrations course at college this year which will give me more experience working in the care sector and will also give me a deeper understanding of the academic requirements of nursing. I currently volunteer at the Salvation army charity shop in Kilmarnock. As part of my duties I make sure the shop is tidy, help with the inventory, sort out new items to be put on the shop floor and assist with customers that require help. I also work on the till. I feel that this has given me the change to meet different people and has greatly increased my communication skills as well as giving me the opportunity to volunteer for an organisation that's helping to make a difference to peoples lives throughout the world. Many colleges and universities are implementing a housing option called living-learning communities. These communities are “programs that involve undergraduate students who live together in a residential community and participate in academic and extracurricular programming especially designed for them” (UMBC). Typically, these living-learning communities place students together according to their major or career field. Colleges allow their students to choose to live in any community in which its theme best first their interests. Many people have opposing views on if these living-learning communities are the best option for college students.
