o What are the important components of building a strong community within the uniquely diverse PSU campus?

Showing support for everyone, since everyone comes from different walks of life, the importance of diversity should be valued as much as possible because it benefits everyone, whether it's race, sexuality or religion, it lets people learn from each other. Knowledge and self awareness is key to creating a strong diverse environment, without being able to learn how to look at things in a new perspective your personal grow is limited. Everyone has the potential to grow and learn, to not is a disservice to yourself as a human being.

o Describe how you would develop your ideal residential community.

I would plan weekly activities to bring everyone together, to help students make friends and network their way around campus. People can learn so much from each other, and just bring them together would create a positive environment. I would also personally met and get to know each resident to create a relationship, that way they would feel comfortable with letting me know if they

needed help with anything. Along with this, I would like to form study groups within the building this way students can learn from each other or simple fun activities like get together and support groups because life can be hard, sometimes people need someone to listen to their struggles. If I could create an environment like this, I feel it would be successful and benefit not just me personal but everyone else within the community.

o There are many different types of communities and populations within Housing at PSU. Please identify the two communities you most prefer to work with, state why these communities interest you, and why you are qualified to serve as a leader within this community.

I wish to work with the historic building with a non-traditional student population the most, mainly because as a transfer student that is a non-traditional student with disabilities, I understand the daunting experience of moving into a new environment.

Kate, was my RA and really helped to make the transition a positive experience rather than a negative one. Which really made me feel like part of the community around campus and in the dorm, honestly she is what made me apply to become a RA myself. If I could help anyone else create a positive experience for someone else in a daunting situation, that would really give me a lot of joy. Moreover, I was part of Student Leadership for a year at my last college and it has given me a lot of experience with helping to navigate students along with helping them in anyway I can as a

peer.
The second choice would be Family Floor, personally I am a child of a single mother who struggled with going to college, raising three children and working two jobs. The struggle is endless, and I have so much respect with families or single parent households doing their best to benefit their kids. While, I might not be a parent myself I helped my mother raise my siblings because I was the oldest and she need me. I truly understand the struggles as i’ve seen them first hand, and if I could make an impact in someone's life that would mean the world to me. I want to be their for them and their families because I wish there had been someone my mother could have relied on, other myself growing up.
