Throughout my high school tenure at Roncalli High, I’ve been graced with some of the best teachers around. They have taught me to have pride, passion, and courage in everything that I pursue. Roncalli is a school where excellence is our average and the students are pushed to go farther than they think they can. These specific values have stuck to my heart and I know will carry me through my collegiate years.
My pride isn’t just in the school that I represent, whether that be my high school or SDSU, but it is also geared towards myself and what I bring to the table. In my work and in my actions, I take pride in who I am and how I want to be perceived. Not only do I want others to be happy with what I’ve accomplished, but I too need to be happy with the final outcome knowing I gave it my all. My personal pride is my complete heart and soul given into everything that I do.

Most of the time, my heart is what leads me in the direction that I’m going and it can get the best of me, as it does with anyone. That passion, the fuel to the fire, the drive to succeed; to put forth my best work is to push the limits and to pour my heart into what I’m going after. People should forget pride and do what is best for others because it makes them a better person, even though having pride in accomplishments is praiseworthy. It is important to realize that modern society does not usually praise an individual’s pride because it is viewed as arrogant and boastful. Furthermore, people should strive to do what is best for the most people, and admit to their mistakes, because it makes them a better person, even if they have to abandon their beliefs.

Typically, one would think of an arrogant politician or movie star, someone so self-absorbed that they almost entirely ignore the needs of those around them. This is a relevant quote because it shows pride is a good and bad. This quote is like my thesis because pride can be good. Therefore, pride is an attractive trait to possess because it drives a person to accomplish tasks; proud of personal achievements and motivates us to help others success.
Looking back on my three years at Twin Cities Academy, I find myself wondering how all these years came and went so fast. To what extent does pride become a harmful or beneficial trait? Pride is the feeling of pleasure gained from one’s own achievements. There are two types of pride; “good” and “bad”. Good pride is when one’s intention to help another is to prosper and positively assist them. The person who helps the other gains pride after he completes his “task”, showing how his fundamental goal is to benefit the other person. On the other hand, bad pride is when one’s intention is to benefit himself, ultimately resulting in the harm for others. Men who possess bad pride put their own satisfaction in front of someone else’s, and their main goal is to essentially obtain pride. To be able to achieve this goal, men go on to “help” others to gain a better reputation.
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything. My experiences with in my passions have helped me aligned my vision for my life. They have given me the valuable knowledge that have set me up for success to get to this point in life.
Having spent twelve years of my school life in just one small red brick building, the years tend to fade into each other. But the year I remember most clearly and significantly is my senior year of high school, where I finally began to appreciate what this institution offered to any student who stopped to look. Before, school had been a chore, many times I simply did not feel motivated toward a subject enough to do the homework well, and seeing the same familiar faces around ever since I was 5 years old grew very tiring soon enough. But I began to see things from a different angle once I became a senior.
