Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that they can overcome the obsticles they face and achieve success
I am here because I feel that the youth of today are talented and intelligent Individuals.
Many young people just need to be motivated and given a fair chance at success. Young people need mentors to help them find their way and to help them stay focused. Mentors play an intricate roll in your lives and are sort of liaisons between your parents or guardians and your educators.
That is why I come before you today to speak. When I was your age I faced many challenges and was fortunate enough to have mentors and motivational speakers come to my schools and neighborhoods and talk to me. As a youth motivational speaker, it is imperative for me to address these issues and challenges you face today and will continue to face for the rest of your lives.
As you know, I am not a famous ball player or athlete. I am not a famous actor, entertainer or person with millions in the bank. I am not an ex-con who is going to tell you not to take the same path I took. However, my bio is quite powerful. Everything I went through made me the strong man I am today. I knew that education would be the key to my success. I developed the hunger and desire to be successful at a young age. I had so many reasons to become a statistic or to fail. Every one of those reasons would only have been excuses. I simply refused to become another negative statistic and that was a conscientious choice I made.
One of the words I will address for you today is the word statistic. We become a statistic b...

...ecisions. No longer can we blame, “The man” or anyone else for our problems or failures. The only man who can hold you back is the one in the mirror. Ladies and gentlemen we are in a brand new era. We are in an era that saw the first black President, President Barack Obama, walk proudly into the White House. As President of the United States he is one of the most powerful men in the world. He has given us all hope. He has proven that in this country we call America; there are endless opportunities for anyone who believes in themselves and is willing to work hard. It does not matter what your circumstances were in the past or are presently.
As a speaker, I can only try to instill drive, tenacity and motivation into you. It has to already be in some way a part of you. Your success and level of achievement in life depends on it.
Topic: Addiction to social media General Purpose: To persuade Specific purpose: To persuade my audience that social media is hurting us mentally and our social lives. Thesis: Social media can cause serious problems to you and your health, so we need to put addiction to social media to rest. I. Introduction A. Attention-getter: The ages of 55 and 64 year olds who use social media fell “worried or uncomfortable” when they can’t access any type of social media accounts (Wright, 2015).
Mentoring can be that hand that reaches down and pulls you out of the pit. Mentoring can change lives forever and create permanent relationships. Mentoring can help a child get on the right track if they do not have someone else to help them. Whether they have grown up without active parents, have gotten into trouble from time to time, or even if they are a straight A student, the youth needs mentoring. It will build a country that has a solid foundation in which the current youth of America will one day lead. Mentoring proves that “regardless of background, [all children] are equipped to achieve their dreams” (Bruce and
I have been a mentee in three mentoring programs and I understand from firsthand experience how important mentors have been in my life. Each relationship was very different; one of my mentors was about two generations older than me, while my two more recent mentors have been only a few years older than me.
Welcome to America. Land of the free, home of the brave. A place they call the “land of opportunity”. Or more famously touted as the “American Dream”. It seems like by just hearing these phrases all you have to do is journey to America to make your dreams come true. That life will be easier by just being in America. Like America is the ice cream man with his truck that plays that all too familiar jingle. As soon as you hear it, like a child you are out of your house pining for his attention so that he may stop and give you the cool, sweet refreshment that everyone loves. Yet, forgetting that in order to get the sweet treat you need to pay. Because, no matter how friendly, nice, or inviting he is. He still needs to work, he still needs to keep his lights on, he has mouths to feed. That ice cream is not free. There is no free lunch.
Spencer, R., Collins, M. E., Ward, R., & Smashnaya, S. (2010). Mentoring for young people
People need to think intelligently and set goals that are specific to their needs, making it possible to achieve their goals by making sure they are measurable and realistic and making it possible to build a support system around them; furthermore, they also need to set a deadline with time frames that can be met. Chanika Charles stated that “young people are at risk of being gobbled up by despair, overcome by conditions beyond their control” (A17). To avoid this, people need to start motivating themselves and getting excited about what they want to achieve, making sure their goals are relevant to their needs and being more perseverance when situations become difficult. When setting up their goals, they must ask that magic question: is this relevant to my lifestyle, furthermore, what will I do to achieve it?
“Organizational Management & Leadership A Christian Perspective” defines a mentor as “individuals that provide career guidance, advice, help with obstacles along the way and can explain off culture and politics or give insight into how to make a presentation to different managers within the organization.”

Beginning on the road to success, one needs a solid motivation to always encourage him or her to move forward. Having a strong motivation means that an individual will not let an obstacle hinder him or her from the goal. The skill of motivation is the driving force and the purpose for all that it takes to become successful. In 2012, a famed YouTube video about motivation was posted as Eric Thomas performed a motivational speech at Michigan University for the student body. During the speech, a quote describing a story grasped the attention of many viewers across the nation when Eric Thomas s...
Mentors and mentees each benefit from successful relationships with one another due to the newfound success for the mentee and the the satisfaction reward for the mentor by seeing a person they guided make an achievement. Success from one of these relationships was found in a study conducted during 2015, where 1,139 students from 11 years and above in different school districts served as subjects. In the study, half of the adolescents received mentors while the other half would receive one following the study. After students with a mentor spent time with them, the students were provided with a survey in which students who reported their relationship with their mentor was “close” or “somewhat close” had widespread academic improvement. As a result of the experiment, it is evident that a significant number of students benefit from a mentor being by their side. If the mentee sensed an emotional connection with the mentor, that was all they needed to succeed in school, even though academic-related tasks may not have been on the agenda for the mentors and mentees during their time together
It is possible to go through your entire life without exploring the meaning of life. But I can't see how a person can direct one hundred percent of their efforts throughout their life to one philosophy without asking themselves the big question. If you don't know what you are doing something for, isn't it hard to get enthusiastic about it. Unless, of course, the activity is inherently enjoyable.
I am writing you in regards that I might persuade you to provide me with ten extra points on my semester grade average. I strongly believe everyone has difficulty maintaining a decent grade throughout some point in their high school year. I just so happen to have a little trouble as well, this is why I believe I should be provided in receiving the ten extra points. High school can definitely be a great challenge for anyone attending it; therefore, it is always good to take advantage of any extra credit, or extra points to help you maintain your grade. Just in case you fail one assignment you will always have the extra credit points to help you maintain your grade.
Students of the Youth Mentorship Program are encouraged to focus on their strengths, set high expectations and to take advantage of the alternatives available to them in order to succeed. As a part of YMP, The mentor/mentee relationship is specifically designed to help at‐ risk adolescents ages 11‐14 remain focused and have self‐determination as they continue on in their teenage
Fortunately, life has taught me that it is better to rely on studying, practice, and God rather than your own intelligence, athletic skill, or luck. No matter what area of life, success takes a little bit of hard work. The many people and events I’ve encountered throughout my years have “provided a sound basis for my attitudes and conduct from that day to this.”
What is life skill? Well, life skills are skills that prepare an individual to live independently and productively within society. The development of Life Skills in an individual is a life long process that starts in early childhood and continues throughout one’s life (UNESCO, 2003). Why is it important? This is important because it prepares young adults to become a more responsible adult. Life skills include skills that can empower the children to adapt to challenges and deal with their life in a gainful manner.
