Going on this trip would be a very cool experience and I would be extremely thankful if I got this scholarship. My mom always talks about what cool things I may see if I went on the trip. Also, she talks about what amazing monuments there could be and what cool things we may hear about. We knew from the beginning we heard about the Washington DC trip we were going to go, but then we ran into some problems. My sister was got ill and she kind of ran into some problems with herself which caused problems with us. My mom had to take her kids while she went off to get some help, unfortunatly this caused problems all around. We had to watch kids a lot, but we also had to pay for their clothes, daycare, diaphers, formula, etc. It may not seem like
much but it is pretty expensive. Also, Oyema won laying the wreath on the tomb so it’s kind of important that we go, so she can get that experience. I’m just hoping we can go and enjoy what fun can happen in Washington DC.

Over all, I believe I embody the type of person this foundation is trying to help through this scholarship. This scholarship would mean the world to me and my family, it would help me achieve all my goals and dreams. I am confident that I am a Strong Candidate for the HSF Scholarship, and I believe I am very well rounded in all aspects of the requirements. Thank you for conserving my
I have been saving my 4-H money for college this whole time. This scholarship will help with books and other experiences I can put towards, as stated before my family has a low income and is unable to assist me. I wasn't expecting anything. I am not Entitled to anything my parents have worked for, only to what I
Every person has an American Dream they want to pursue, achieve and live. Many people write down goals for themselves in order to get to their dream. Those never ending goals can range from academic to personal. As of today, I am living my dream. My American Dream is to become a nurse, travel to many places, have a family, and get more involved with God.
It was back when I was 14 years old in the 8th grade, when I got an opportunity to take a trip to Washington D.C. to learn, explore, and meet new people in a different state. There was a long way to go, for me to be able to be chosen to go on the trip. This trip was competitive because only 10 students would get to go. I had to do some paperwork to let the assistant principal at my middle school know I’d be participating in competing with other kids at school to go to Washington D.C. I wrote an essay explaining who I was, how would this trip benefit my future, and why did I want to go to Washington D.C. I’d also be in charge of raising $500 on my own and also in the essay I had to explain how would I raise $500 on my own. I was settle to be
My experience as the service chair encouraged me to try out for another position for the upcoming semester. This time with the goal of encouraging diversity and growth of our members. I created the Deserving Darlin Scholarship, which would be awarded to one member who excelled all of the standards of a Texas Darlin. Alone, I was able to facilitate, organize, and raise over $500 for the scholarship. After months of planning and reading scholarship applications, I was finally able to award the scholarship. At that moment I felt that same adrenaline as I did when I received the student council announcement. Except this time, I felt that I had accomplished my long held dream, to grow as a leader and positively impact those around me, something
“The American Dream is that dream of land in which should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement,” (Adams,“The Epic American Dream”, 1931, pg 214). Reading this I had to translate this quote for myself. I got that the American dream is that every American citizen can be successful and prosper in this great nation if he/she puts in the hard work, possesses determination, and the required skill. Such ideal, I think carries a lot of weight and promise to those who take advantage of the opportunity. However this dream is slowing dying.
I once heard someone say, “I can hear your Washingtonian accent.” “Me?” I questioned him in disbelief. “Yeah,” he replied. Then with a little more cheek than I should of, I responded with, “no ya don’t!” and walked away. I remember thinking to myself he was the one that was dropping letters out of words when he spoke. Later on, I realized why I had responded the way I did. I had a perception about accents and dialects that I had subconsciously acquired as I grew up.
It was a warm April day and all of the students were let out of school for the day. I went home to finish packing with the help of my parents making sure that I had everything and I wasn 't forgetting. I was excited for a week now to go on the trip to Washington D.C. with the whole 8th grade class for a week.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
I am applying for this scholarship to help me pay for college. As everyone knows it is very expensive and sometimes hard to pay for all the things involved. My family is doing everything they can to help pay for my college. One of the biggest obstacles we have faced is applying for the FAFSA. My parents do make a lot of money, but they both have student loans they have to pay. My mom has two majors so she has a lot of money to pay back to school. While applying to FAFSA, these factors are not taken into consideration so we did not get as much money as we had hoped. If I am selected to win this scholarship, it would be greatly appreciated and would help me in many ways to continue my education.
The true American Dream… What everyone thought of the American dream was that, they would have a better life. They would have land and many riches. They would leave better lives for their children. Many thought that moving to America would just be better overall. They thought there would be so much work, nice people and good things everywhere.
I attended George Washington High School for four and that school has taught me that teachers get no respect. Every day I would go to class and I would see the students ruining around not listening to the teacher and trying to start fights with them. The teacher tried their best to teach the students but in the end noting worked. So in the end the teachers gave up as well and started caring less about the students and let them do whatever they wanted to. I saw it as unfair because their were some kids who wanted to learn but it got ruined by others. I would see kids walking around the halls instead of going to class or skip class to go out and eat. It was very unorganized and very unprofessional the way that school was run. Nothing was ever
I would be unable to pay for the fall semesters books and necessities. Recently I have taken on a small paid internship with the Idaho Museum of Natural History, but I’m afraid I will not earn enough for the coming semesters. This is where this scholarship comes in for me. If I were to receive this scholarship I would be able to pay for the materials I need for the upcoming semester. I would not have to worry about the expensive of this summer’s field school, and learn the skills I need in order to continue with my archaeological
