The Kid with the Great Smile People say that I have a great smile. “That Gabe Gore is always smiling...he seems like the happiest kid,” is often a comment I hear being said about myself. I am a happy guy for the most part, and I do like to smile a lot. I guess, according to my mom, I’ve always been a fairly laid-back, happy-go-lucky type kid. But I have experienced some sadness. And my feelings do get hurt, even though people don’t always think I understand what they are talking about. I remember once, when I was in 5th or 6th grade, I didn’t get asked to play with my friends on a travel baseball team. I came home a bit sad, but not really even sure what “travel ball” meant. I just knew my buddies were playing extra games …show more content…
The first one is my paraprofessional, Carrie Gebhardt. Miss Carrie has been with me since I was in Pre-K. She teases me and says that she and I are just like an “old married couple” because we’ve been together so long--we know each other inside and out! That always makes me laugh. I think Miss Carrie is a good example of a leader for me because she makes me work hard at school, even when I’d rather be watching ESPN Sports Center on my phone. She encourages me to do my best and won’t let me turn in sloppy, lazy work. Miss Carrie brings out the best in me, and I think that’s what good leaders are supposed to do. My dad is my other good leadership role model. At times, he is very hard on me in regards to my behavior. He tells me: “do what you’re told to do, when you’re told to do it, to the best of your abilities, every time.” He says that’s called self-discipline. Good leaders need that. He has also had lots of talks with me about how to treat other people. My dad is one of the friendliest people I know. He is always talking to folks, especially after church. My mom says he has good people skills. I want to be like that. Good leaders know how to make the people around them feel good about themselves. They will then feel worthy and valuable, which will probably make them work harder at their job or cause. Both Miss Carrie and my dad are good leadership role models for me on a daily basis. I hope I can become good leaders and examples like them
It is the job of a leader to be a role model because people look up to you. Leadership is something I may have to work on a little because I am a shy person, but that doesn’t stop me. Last year, some 6th grade student were going to be selected to give a tour of the school to the 5th graders who were coming to Great Hollow the following year. My teacher was unsure that I would be a good choice because I am quiet in class. But I convinced him to let me be a tour guide and he was impressed with my performance. I was excited and talked to the students about the school and I was happy to be a leader and show the 5th graders what to do. I proved to myself I had
Not Only am I a role model to my classmates, but I am also a role model to my younger family members. I show this through following the rules of where I am at during the time and teaching them the rules along the way. I am also a role model to them by not giving up on my goals and teaching them about the importance of family and how you should spend quality time with the people you love. The third and last reason I exemplify the traits of leadership is because I lead by example in the community. I show good manners like please and thank you along with opening doors and helping other people. If I see someone that is struggling to carry something or if they drop an item and need help picking it up I do not hesitate to step in and help the person in need. I have observed that a simple smile and a friendly gesture of hello can go a long way when being nice to someone to make their day better in anyway I know how to. These are the reasons why I personally exemplify the traits of someone who shows
My father is my biggest role model and always will be. He has taught me everything I know.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “ The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Clearly he had never had to step into Royalton High School at the start of seventh grade. I love school, but kids usually don’t enjoy waking up in the morning to realize that a) they’re starting seventh grade, b) they have to ride The Bus, c) it's at a new school, and d) they are the “new” kid. Being the “new” kid has both its pros and cons, mainly cons, but the one thing that is most definitely a con is the attention. I would be the new exhibit in the zoo, only this time the visitors get to poke me with a stick to figure out what the heck I’m supposed to be. Am I a lion? An owl? A platypus? Only time and countless annoying personal questions will tell.
The people who I look up to is my mom and my dad. Ever since I was born, they helped me with my problem that I have. Every day after school my mom would help me with my homework, because most of the time I don’t understand my assignment, that she knew how to do some math work, because I would forget how to answer my math, while my dad is at work. On his days off me and my dad would sometimes go fishing in the river or a lake, because he would like to spend time with. Other times we would go hunting for deer or bird, because it would be boring if we didn’t do
Who comes to mind when thinking about who the best role model is? Is it a friend? A sibling? Possibly a parent? For me, When thinking about who the best role model to have is, one person in particular comes to mind. She has been there my entire life, has seen me through thick and thin, and always supports me in everything that I do. The person that I consider to be the best role model is my older sister, Kelly. To this day my sister and I aren't joined at the hip, and I don't speak to her everyday, but my sister is still one of my closest friends. Growing up we saw things differently, but as I grew up and saw my sister go through life with a confidence still unrivaled, I realized she was the one person who I could count on to pick me up when
Ken Nelson (my dad) is a role model to me. He’s nice and fun and isn’t afraid of all the sports and work I do. Yes he can be annoying, but he’s just more optimistic which makes everything more exciting.
Keith and Kenita Jensen are my parents and are phenomenal role models. They are kindhearted, responsible, and honorable people. Teaching me to be a successful rider, my Dad encouraged me to work harder and harder, therefore I have become competitive in the rodeo arena. With his encouragement I have endured the practice, feeding and tutoring required to become an accountable person.
A time when I modeled good leadership and/or citizenship was in my senior year of high school. In my senior year I was in a class called the Health Occupation 2. In the Health Occupation 2 class, we would go to the Sikeston Convalescent Center nursing home every Thursday and Friday to get our training done. So, we can become Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA). In the nursing home, I learned that a lot of families left their parents in nursing home because they felt like their parents were burdened to them and they would never visit them. I come from the background, where it is our responsibility to look after our parents. I was always taught that every parent
In my life, my grandfather has always been my role model. He valued his beliefs and always abides by his values. My grandfather is a pastor. His leadership position in church gave him many responsibilities. I was never disappointed because he always tried to live an honest life. He was always trustworthy, reliable and responsible not just in church but also for his family. People followed his lead because he was always true to his words; he literally practiced what he preached. Credibility was the basic foundation for my grandfather’s leadership position. His credibleness has helped the church stay
The type of student I am has greatly evolved from elementary school. I have always been intelligent but my work in elementary school did not reflect my intelligence level. My work was sloppy, disorganized and borderline illegible. I got stressed out and frustrated while working on school work in elementary school. I can recall how my homework got done in elementary school. I’d start with a grin ear to ear, open my folder and pull out the assignment. Shortly after I began working,my smile would turn into a frown, and I would began to cry. and scream “I can’t do this!”.
One leader that I admire is my mother. She has taught me to do everything to the best of my ability, work hard, and be resilient. When my parents were in the process of getting a divorce, my mom went through many difficult times. Nevertheless, she always stayed strong and did a terrific job of taking care of my little brother and I. When I was eleven years old, my mom introduced me to cycling. Since then she has completed three century rides which are one-hundred mile bike rides. After she finished her first century ride, I was amazed at the amount of adversity she went through. She had been chased by three dogs, gone through twenty mile per hour winds, and still managed to complete an unimaginable feat. She inspired me to complete the Tour De Gruene, a sixty-five mile bike ride in the hill country. When I was fifty feet away from the finish line, I had a moment to think that this wouldn’t be possible without my mother. She is the perfect example of a leader who brings people up and always stays positive.
My grandma is my role model because she has accomplished so much and been through so much in her life. She is a very beautiful person, but very stubborn in what she believes and wants. Its almost impossible to get her to change her mind. She is always telling me how proud she is of me and has pretty high expectations of me. My mom is also a role model for me because she had a rough childhood and after she started a family she went back to college she is still attending college now, she gives me motivation to never give up and reminds my of how good my life is
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
My grandfather was my role model because he would always help others. He was a doctor, and he would treat patients, even if they could not pay him. It did not matter to him. All that mattered was that he was able to help someone.
