There are two main states that I would like to include on my map, California and Texas. These two places mean a lot to me in many ways. Texas is a place where I spend most my summers and other vacations at. I don't visit there regularly just because, I visit because I have most of my family from both my mom’s and dad's side. That is why I decided to put a quote about family instead of drawing out my whole family. Around it I drew a picture of the famous Texas star which lays on a mountain and looks really nice at night. In the top right corner I drew a picture of UTEP which stands for University of Texas in El Paso which is the university I wish to attend.
California is on my map for some obvious reasons, but also some not so clear ones.
California has numerous interesting sights. Not only the big cities but the nature to. Approximately between California and Oregon states border lyes the California’s “best kept secret.” While other national parks, such as Yosemite National Park may receive nearly 4 million visitors, the Lava Beds National Monument attracts 130,000 guests. Not having many visitors lets this monument keep its nickname.
The idea of that California is the state to come to where your dreams come true is a very real thing. Also writers, from newspapers, magazines, and even books have a tendency to write the upside of the good things and then tend to leave some of the bad things to chance. Some writers have called California the vanishing dream. The myth of California being a good and bad goes back to the time of the Gold Rush and Dust Bowl. The Gold Rush is a example of the California myth because people were finding gold. There was a problem with people finding gold. People were coming to California for gold, but they found out that once they got here, there wasn’t as much gold as they had hoped to find. When the people were finding gold it was not enough to support any kind of life that was promised. The people wanted to have the luxurious life that went along with finding this mineral. Gold was not at the high price that everyone thought it would be at. Don’t get me wrong some people did do well from finding this mineral, but not a lot. Another incident that California is a myth is the Dust Bowl.
Bright sunshine to frigid snow, all within hours of travel. A place for everyone, all ages, all cultures, all types of people. When choosing a place to live, we decide on the one that pleases us and our busy lives. For those who enjoy constant activity and sunny warm beaches, California and Florida tend to be on their list. Once learning all that California has to offer, they will jump on the decision to pack their bags and head for their new home. California offers exploration and something new every day. “If they can’t do it in California, it can’t be done anywhere.” -Taylor Caldwell (Fun Quotes about California by Stephen Frank, www.capolitical news.com)
El Paso, Texas is a relatively large city with a small town attitude. It is one of those cities that grows on you. I embrace the laid back lifestyle and bi-cultural environment - it’s given me an opportunity to develop a unique bicultural identity that influences my motivation to succeed. Especially, being the daughter of an immigrant that upholds Mexican culture. The majority of the population is hispanic, which gave me the sense of mexican traditions that I would share with my family in Mexico. Growing up bilingual ironically provided me comfort in the community. Also, the efforts of the community are being made to modernize and improve the city.
Delaware Delaware is a really cool state. I say that because there is not a whole-lot of crime there and for country folks it’s great because there is a lot of cows and pigs, but there are also a lot of cars there too. It was some rivers and creeks land definition and tons of history, but there isn’t very many people there compared to California. Delaware has gained 2 nicknames over the years, The First State and The Diamond State.
I believe that Southern California is a great place to visit because of the great weather and the beautiful and fun attractions to visit. This would be a great place for a vacation. I might be a little bit biased since on May 17, 1995, I was born in Southern California and lived there for the first 10 years of my life. I have many fond memories of the Sunshine State.
Most Americans have their favorite place to live or visit whether it be at a coastline or the mountains. The two states that are most favored by Americans are Florida and California. These are the biggest when it comes down to tourist attractions. There are many factors to consider when comparing California to Florida such as housing, weather, food, culture, and beaches.
San Francisco belongs to California state in America and located on the west coast of American continent connecting to Pacific ocean, so it has been an important entrance for many ships from east to America including China, Japan, Korea, Russia, etc. California used to belong to Spain and Mexico, until 1848 America won California after United States war with Mexico. At the same year in 1848, gold was found accidently in Sutter’s Mill, California, and the gold rush att...
In general, California is very well known for countless things that make it a famous, notable state and establish their society. California is one of the most populated states in the USA with it’s 38.8 million people, and 10.1 million specifically in Los Angeles. Every person has an American Dream they want to pursue, achieve and live. Many people write down goals for themselves in order to get to their dream. Those never ending goals can range from academic to personal. As of today, I am living my dream. My American Dream is to become a nurse, travel to many places, have a family, and get more involved with God.
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.

Life in the middle school and high school was not easy for me. I had become an introvert, I still didn’t know how to be social, and I had very few friends. I was teased for being very quiet, and some people insinuated that I’m scared of fellow people. On the other hand life at home was difficult. My mother had become so bitter and pleased her was next to impossible. She became very harsh with my brother and me, and we were always scolded for even the smallest mistakes. Once in a while, my father would come for us and take us to the city he lived. I would look out of the windows as we drove out of town and would imagine how life in another city would feel like. I looked at the skies, and all I saw were promises of a better future. All my life I had lived in San
