Starting off, California has a huge drawback of have various natural disasters. Down in the south coast of the United States, they get assorted earthquakes, wildfires, and droughts. These mean more expensive insurance payments. Henceforth, the cost of living is high and I would be far away from my family in Canada. California’s living costs are 50% higher than average prices and the USA does not have free healthcare, plus I would have to take a plane or long drive to visit my family. Finally, in California there are more crimes and tons of traffic. Since California is very densely populated there is obviously going to be more crimes and plenty of
traffic. Overall to live in California would be a fun and entertaining experience. Although it has a huge population, they have amazing weather and the best attractions , not to mention the film industry. All inclusive, most of the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Therefore once you know some of the background information, advantages, and disadvantages, it can help you be knowledgeable about where you wish living.
San Francisco would arise into the “importer, the banker, the market” and the “great financial and commercial centre of all the Pacific coasts and countries” (300). Trade opportunities with other countries would be created and an increase in economic success would surface. Although there are many benefits, there are also some major drawbacks with the arrival of the railroad. George says, the state of California has a chance to grow rapidly, however the “aggregated population and wealth of the State will diminish rather than increase” (298). In spite of the new era being greater, richer and more powerful than the California in the past, some major economic transformations would be seen in the state. In the past, California did not have a rich class, nor a poor class. “With the expansion of the railroad, the State will become a better system for some social classes than it was in the past, but it will also be far worse for others.” ( ). People who are rich would become wealthier, while poorer people would have a harder time acquiring wealth. For instance, those who already own land, business, etc., will become richer. While people with their own labor, will become poorer and find it harder
California has numerous interesting sights. Not only the big cities but the nature to. Approximately between California and Oregon states border lyes the California’s “best kept secret.” While other national parks, such as Yosemite National Park may receive nearly 4 million visitors, the Lava Beds National Monument attracts 130,000 guests. Not having many visitors lets this monument keep its nickname.
Everyone loves sightseeing and being tourists because observing beautiful places gives people an opportunity to relax and enjoy their moment away from home. Whether they are exploring new, exciting places where you live, or far away from home, sightseeing is one of the greatest pleasures to do in life. I have been to a numerous number of places across the world, and I have to say that Hawaii and San Francisco are both wonderful places to visit. Hawaii and San Francisco, two of the top ten tourist destinations in the United States that attract people from all over the world, resulting in the astonishing landmarks such as Pearl Harbor and Alcatraz Island.
Canada: Canada’s immigration policy is a little bit more lenient. As with Mexico, they welcome foreigner who will be helpful to the economy and society. They must also be good citizens with good moral standings.
The Gold Rush was one of the most influential times in California History. During the four years from 1848-1852, 400,000 new people flooded into the state. People from many countries and social classes moved to California, and many of them settled in San Francisco. All this diversity in one place created a very interesting dynamic. California during the Gold Rush, was a place of colliding ideals. The 49ers came from a very structured kind of life to a place where one was free to make up her own rules.
11. The cost of living is lower. Sure, to live in Miami and Tampa Bay you’ll pay a high rate to live, but millions of Floridians live in other cities as well as communities. Your housing costs will be lower and your utilities will come in reasonable. Taxes in Florida are lower too.
In historical terms the city of Oakland was named after the many Oak trees that inhabited the land when the city was established. Oakland was first founded in 1852 and is located on the East side of the Bay Area in Northern California.(Oakland History) Native Americans had previously lived in the area for over 5 thousand years before many arrived for the Gold Rush, and put down their roots. The famous author Jack London also spent many of his earlier years in Oakland, and his works have said to have been influenced by the city. My personal perception of Oakland is that it has always been the forgotten city in the Bay Area. Almost no one would notice that famous actors Clint Eastwood, and Tom Hanks spent many of their childhood days in the city. Basketball future hall of famers Gary Payton and Jason Kidd also spent their childhood days there. Baseball hall of famers Reggie Jackson and Ricky Henderson still own homes in the city.
I started to like living in Las Vegas, I was able to get a job right after graduation working at the McCarren Airport at Hudson News Group working as a sales associate, I didn’t have to stress too much about traffic or gas and if I wanted to I could move into my own place and offer it. With all those positive factors that still couldn’t keep me away from California.
Las Angeles, California has drastically grown and changed over history and is currently the home to more than four million people. Many people move here every year for many reasons such as the laid back and sunny lifestyle, career advancement in television, music, and gaming (the arts), scrumptious food, pleasant weather, interesting culture, and diversity. This grand city is also known as the "entrepreneurial capital of the world." Los Angeles' full name is "El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula," which translated from Spanish, means "The Village of Our Lady” and “The Queen of the Angels of the river of Porziuncola." The name to this extravagant city was bestowed by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve; this man wanted a town to provide food for southern California. This city has become much more than that over

California is full of beauty, a beauty that is constantly glamourized, and falsely advertised. There is a constant battle against the stereotypes presented in the media, which have created a false image of this massive state. The media presents an insufficient amount of information about California that impedes the outsiders to fully understand the beauty of this state. The media focuses on the tourist attractions of California, like, beaches, Los Angeles, Hollywood, and San Francisco. Although these attractions are appealing, the spotlight should also highlight the impoverished cities, the cultural and geographical diversity. The diversity here in California is clearly visible, which is something that is not clearly seen all over the United
Since 1848 to the present, California has had strong periods of representing the American Dream with its egalitarian advances and times of overwhelmingly democratic positions. Also, California was once a place for economic opportunity, attracting people from all over the nation. Since 1990, however, California has witnessed a reverse migration. Once a land of hope and opportunity, California has slowly been turning into a land of despair.
California, what makes this state so wonderful? Well if you were to ask any one east from it they might say it’s a party state filled with surfers and celebrities; where no is poor and everyone drinks wine. However, if you were to pick up Mark Arax’s book West of the West you would find the contrary. Arax goes beyond the clichés that California is known for and shows you, well, what is beyond just the west. Showing the true nature of California and its people, if you are one to think that California is a happy go’ lucky state then this would be the book to read to see the real California.
Canada is a great place to live, because it is very diverse. country. The sand is a sand. It is multicultural, it’s considered a Melting Pot. Many people from many nations come together to make this country special and unique to us.
One major issue affecting many people trying to make the decision on where to live is their quality of life in either extreme. Health, education, transportation are three major concerns that many consider. In a city, pollution surrounds you wherever you step whether on the streets of a busy financial district or on the lawn of a large park. Pollution could possibly cause health problems later in life. In the country, pollution is scarce. Fresh air, rolling green hills, a few pieces of litter here and there but pretty much everything is clean, and wow! No smog, you can see the stars! In the country, childhood education, kindergarten through twelfth grade, is significantly better than in a large city; smaller class sizes and larger budgets create excellent learning environments. In cities, public schools are often plagued with very large classes packed into small spaces. Teachers with low pay, and little or no dedication are thrown into classrooms to teach, resulting in poor education. Transportation is very accessible in city environments. Public transportation, by way of subways, busses and ferries, are cheap and easy ways of getting around a metropolis, whether going out to work, school, or for a night on the town. In the country, everyone needs to have access to his or her own vehicle. A commute to work or school is about an average of forty-five minutes!
