Personal Narrative: My Interview With A Football Coach

The organization which I am associated with you is Robert Morris University football team. The three people I interviewed were my coaches Mike Miller who is the offensive coordinator of the offense, Scott Farison who’s the defensive coordinator of the defense, and John Banaszak who’s the head coach of the program. When interviewing the coaches I was trying to see who was more like a leader or a manager. Therefore, I asked them some questions to confirm if their coaching style was similar to a leader or manager. The first coach I interviewed was Mike Miller and asked him the other coaches some questions. The first question I asked Mike was ‘how do you run your offense?’ His response was, “Well I run my offense based off of knowledge and …show more content…

This offense is centered around order and if you can’t follower orders you will be lost in the systems because I know I don’t have time to take a step back”. You can see that coach Miller clearly isn’t a leader or manager somewhat like a dictator. The second person I interviewed was Scott Farison, the defensive of coordinator. I also asked him the same questions. Based off of his responses, he has more leaders treats because he understand his player’s weaknesses and strengths. the questions I asked coach Farison was kind of the same questions I asked Mike Miller. The first question I asked him ‘How do you run your defense?’ He answered with,“ Well I run my defense to were it benefits my players.” I followed up the question with ‘What do you mean by that answer?’ He then replied with, “I made the playbook simple and short for the players and this will make it easier for them gasp the concepts.” Coach Farison sounds like a leader because he cares more about the players understanding the tasks at hand so they can benefit.
