Recommended: Importance of assessment in teaching

This semester wasn’t my first English 101 rodeo, but I’m glad to say I was able to hold on for the whole eight seconds this time. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and the people involved with the class. I’ve learned a few new things this year along with making some improvements to my writing style. Altogether, I was able to take some new things away from the assignments we had this year as well as figure out why we had to do instead of a final exam.     Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 101 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. This was my first college writing course and it has given me much more freedom when writing because in high school I felt limited and like what we were writing was not very important. At the beginning of the semester my writing was quite choppy and there was plenty of room for improvement in the overall flow of my essays. Now, I use several different tactics such as outlining to create better connections between paragraphs.
