A year ago, I had severe back pain. I scheduled an appointment with a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation facility. As a new patient I arrived 30 minutes early to do paperwork. My appointment was at 11 am, and I set in squirming in pain for 45 minutes. The ladies behind the front desk could see that I was in distress, but did not extend any apology for the wait. The nurse that called me back did not apologize for the long wait. She spent approximately five minutes with me getting vitals and said the doctor would be in shortly. Shortly turned into a hour and 15 minutes. I could hear people being brought in and people leaving. I went to the front desk and asked if they forgot that I was there. I then received an apology at that point I was frustrated

I cared for a 76-year-old end-staged chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder patient who was admitted for respiratory distress. The doctor requested that my nurse and I get the family together for a family meeting. During the meeting, the doctor communicated to the patient and his family members that the patient will be palliative and no longer be in the ICU. The family members were concerned about the transfer of care to the medicine unit, what to expect from palliative care and other options for care. This scenario did not go well because the patient and family would have benefited from a palliative nurse with expertise, respiratory therapist to discuss other options, pharmacist about medication change if needed, social worker to help guide the family through end of life care for their father. In addition, there was no collaboration with interprofessionals prior to the family
When i Was at the mosque outside on the court while i was playing a 3 on 3 basketball game. And the teams was me, bosh and Salah vs Abu, Sunny and Musa. We started to play, and my team was down by 8 points. So i was kind of mad at my team that we was down by so much. So i told them let me take over and try to get us back in the game. So they let me take over and we went on a 7-0 run and out of nowhere we was only down by one point. Then we made a turn over, then they got the ball and they passed it to abdi. And abdi got through his defender and bosh stepped up and tried to block his shot but he head faked bosh and i step and try to block his shot and i jumped up tried to block his shot and my knee cap moved out of
Currently, I am involved in a prospective cohort study with other colleagues from King Fahad Medical City that aims to study the effect of a low back care educational program on low back pain prevalence among health-care professionals.
When I think about the moments leading up to my diagnosis I remember feeling weak, confused, shaky and sleepy. I did not notice that I had began sleeping throughout the day. My body was craving soft drinks like soda and juice but not food. Days would go by and I eventually fell into a deep slumber that I found myself only waking up from to use the bathroom. I knew something was wrong and that if I did not get to a hospital it would get worse. Nothing could have prepared me for the life changing diagnosis I would receive.
Overcoming an addiction to alcohol can be a long and bumpy road. Many people feel that it is impossible to overcome an alcohol addiction. Many people feel that is it easier to be an addict than to be a recovering addict. However, recovering from alcoholism is possible if one is ready to seek the help and support they need on their road to recovery. Recovery is taking the time to regain one’s normal mind, health and strength. Recovery is process. It takes time to stop the alcohol cravings and pressure to drink. For most, rehab and professional help is needed, while others can stop drinking on their own. Recovery never ends. After rehab, professional help or quitting on your own, many people still need help staying sober. A lot of time, recovering
I’m actually kind of shocked I could write about recovery because it is a topic with a special meaning to myself. But, I found it easier to write about my own experience with a negative event this time, and I believe it is because I grew as a writer. I saw the value the personal testimony adds to a piece, and thus I could add my own story.
Ohio Dep’t of Rehabilitation & Correction are the poor-quality patient care that Tomcik received and Tomcik’s health being at risk. Once engaged in a doctor-patient relationship, physicians are obligated to provide the best possible care for the patient by utilizing their skills and knowledge as expected from a competent physician under the same or similar conditions (“What Is a Doctor’s Duty of Care?” n.d.). However, in Tomcik’s situation, Dr. Evans did not deliver high-quality care, for he administered a perfunctory breast examination and thus did not follow standard protocols. There is evidence of indifference conveyed by Dr. Evans, and the lack of proper care towards Tomcik is an issue that can be scrutinized and judged appropriately. Additionally, Tomcik’s health was at risk due to the failure of a proper physical evaluation and the incredibly long delay in diagnosis and treatment. The negligence from Dr. Evans, along with the lack of medical attention sought out by Tomcik after she had first discovered the lump in her breast, may contribute to Tomcik’s life being in danger as well as the emotional anguish she may have felt during that time period. Overall, the incident of Tomcik’s expectations from the original physician and other employees at the institution not being met is an ethical issue that should be dealt with
After this incident I spoke to my team leader and we both agreed I needed to report this situation to higher management. I documented the occurrence under the Incident Report file and filled out an online incident report for the doctor due to his unacceptable behavior, unsafe practices and professional misconduct. Within one week, our department’s management contacted me, the team leader, and the resident doctor that was involved. They spoke to all of us about how to avoid scenarios like this in the future, they recommended that we look at each other’s role on the health care team as equal not above or below one another, and that we share power and control in our patient’s plan of care. They also reiterated that if any order or intervention is unclear that it is better to seek clarification rather than have any errors occur. At the end of this whole experience, we evaluated the scenario as a group and planned to work together as a
It’s amazing how a horrific and negative life changing event can encourage and guide you in the path of your future. The end result may not be visible when it first takes place, but the process of a recovery can be extremely educational. You see, I was provided the opportunity of job shadowing firsthand the fields of athletic training and physical therapy due to a knee injury. I believe the majority of people would consider a severely damaged knee a dramatic setback in life. I was able to find the silver lining during the recovery.
Definition of the condition: " Chronic pain is described as a long-lasting pain that people experience beyond a normal healing time (Hasenbring, Rusu & Turk, 2012). It was not addressed by the doctor, the doctor on duty never knowledge my concerns. • November 22, 2017, I changed from Care Now Clinic and went to Concentra Clinic to get help physical and mental trauma for my headaches, nightmares, sleepless nights and reoccurring events that flooded my mind just to be told by the doctor there, (when asked to talk to someone about my mental trauma). “I don’t do that call your adjuster.” I cannot take you off work only if you have a limb on the floor, a broken limb leg or arm, or you having surgery. However, on that day, some exams were exceed 30 minutes, which means that some clients needed to wait. A client complained that her physical exam should be started at 1:00pm, however, she waited until 1:20.
The use of the internet to create my initial list of ideas was helpful as I could find various ideas and then pick which ones stuck out to me as interesting. However, I think what was most effective for narrowing down my top choose is my personal experience with my top 3 possible topics. When coming down to picking just one topic, my experience of chronic pain influenced my interest. I have had a lot of medical difficulties that have been present since birth and that has led me to experience chronic pain starting at a very young age. From my own experience, I have some background knowledge of some psychological affects that come with constant pain. I remember when I was in elementary school, I went to the doctor and was discussing what was
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes.
