The one and only thing that has ever made me lose track of time is playing football. To me the game of football is the sport that anybody can ever play. It makes me lose track of time because when I’m playing , I am so focused on my job and responsibilities that I’m not worried about anything else but making a play. When I was young I would talk about to my mother was football and what I did with the other kids on the field. If you would meet my mother, she would tell you that my whole life revolve around football and what I need to do to get better at my craft.
The reason why I feel so captivated about the sport is because nothing else makes me more happy than to release all my anger and frustrations that I’ve accumulated throughout the
day and take it out on the field. Ever since I young boy, I had a deep desire to play professional football in the NFL one day so I can put my family in a new house and make sure my kids have a better young life then I ever had. When I have questions about football and life as, well I would go to my coaches because to me they have the second best jobs ever. They get to coach young men how to be man will also teach them the what they love to do. My parents are the only other people that I would go to about any other questions I have about life.
I spend six days per week for twelve months straight practicing catching, throwing, and hitting a softball. My friends call me crazy when I have to leave their house at ten o’clock on a Friday night to go play in a midnight madness softball tournament. They think I am insane for travelling to away, out-of-state tournaments each weekend. However, ten years of competitive, travel softball and nearly nine hundred games have molded me into the person I am today. Many people do not understand why I spend the majority of my time playing competitive softball, and they fail to recognize that my entire identity is a result of this sport. However, I am aware that I would not be who I am without it.
Each game, my passion grew. Each team, new memories and lifelong friends were made. Sports sometimes make me feel disappointment and at loss; but it taught me to be resilient to a lot of things, like how to thrive under pressure and come out on top. Being the team captain of my high school’s football and lacrosse team showed me how having a big responsibility to bring a group together to work as one is compared to many situations in life. Currently playing varsity football, varsity lacrosse, and track I take great pride in the activities I do. Staying on top of my academics, being duel enrolled at Indian River State College, working three nights a week, and two different sport practices after school each day shaped my character to having a hard work
One incident that happened to me that change how I thought about sports was when I first started playing soccer. It all started when my mom said that I should join a sport to get me more active. It took me awhile to choose soccer at first because there were so many sports to choose from. I told my mom I wanted to play soccer. She signed me up to play for a non competitive league (GYSA) so I can learn the basics of the sport. She also told me to play I would have to maintain good grades. After hearing that i always tried my best in soccer and school.
I’ve played football for nine years now, and participated in over 85 games. I’ll openly admit that practices got to be the most dreaded part of my day by the time my senior year rolled around, nonetheless gameday’s never became wearisome. The miserable as well as submissive game day nerves can keep you from eating, thinking straight, and also make relaxing an unattainable task. Yet, as I sit here pondering back on football season, I’d treasure the displeasure of those nerves just one final time.
In the past four years of my life, no activity has affected me more than wrestling. Four years of varsity wrestling and the honor of being a team captain has instilled many qualities in me. First, through years of hard work and continuous dieting, wrestling has given me discipline. This discipline has spread to other parts of my personality, including my moral character, work ethic, and perserverence. Another quality wrestling has given me is leadership. As a team captain, I have learned to lead by example, both on and off the mat. Above all, though, wrestling has given me a love of life. Through this sport, I have experienced pain, sacrifice, adversity, and success. Exposure to these feelings-which are, in my opinion, the essence of being-has
Growing up in El Salvador, soccer was a sport that significantly impacted my childhood. My cousins and uncles taught me how to play soccer, as well as various techniques that would later benefit me on the soccer field. At the age of seven I started to play for one of most well-known soccer clubs in El Salvador. Practicing twenty three hours a week was really paying off, as I could see in my medal and trophy gain. Not only did they represent my accomplishments, but they also gave joy to my teammates, community, and family because they were the people who encouraged me to give my best. Playing soccer was also a way to release stress because when my family was going through hardships, it was easier for me to let all of my negative energy on the
August, a month that brings unbearable heat, uncontrollable sweating, and most importantly, competition. The pressing heat of August can really change a man, unless he has something to keep him busy. For me, it is football during the day, and fantasy football during the night. After a grueling day of practice, I can always come home to my phone, and open the ESPN fantasy football app. I have played fantasy football since eighth grade with some of my closest friends. We all treat it as a life or death game which allows us to bring out our competitive side. Now, have I won a championship in 5 years? The answer to that is not important. What is important is the recent argument my friend Jake and I have gotten ourselves into. Last fantasy season,
I played a lot of sports growing up, but my main focus was soccer. My mother had put me in soccer when I was around three because I had too much energy, and I don't think she thought soccer was going to be such a big part of my life. I was never really a shy person growing up and I think soccer was a big part of that because I was always around a lot of other people. Also through soccer I had also learned what it meant to be a part of a team and learned how to communicate and work with others. I played soccer in a club league and I also played in middle school and high school. During my club season I had met a lot of girls who were worried about college recruitment. I had never really thought about playing college soccer before until this point.
Throughout my life I have participated in many sports, all of which have influenced me or taught me many lessons that I continue to look to even today. From learning to follow the rules for flag football to understanding that new things take time to master in dance, I have developed many valuable skills. The sports that I have participated in have influenced me by helping me improve myself and to encourage others to improve themselves. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities, memories, and people that playing sports has brought into my life. I have had the opportunity to participate in many different sports, and through this I have learned some of my most valuable lessons.
I box and work out because it helps relax and control my anger. The reason I started working out is because I wanted to box and to box you have to be physically fit and strong. Boxing is a good sport if you want to feel calm or at ease with yourself and everything around you. The reason why boxing makes you feel at ease with yourself and everything else is that, when you’re angry or excited you can relive yourself by hitting the punching bag or shadow box. You can also get in the ring with someone and throw some heavy hands for a few rounds. To do so you have to be physically fit and also have endurance that’s why you need to run or jog so you can last a long time in the ring.
Even though being involved in multiple sports takes much more time, it teaches us important skills for time management. As I mentioned before, multiple sports require much more time out of the day, making it hard to balance other things in life. Imagine being a high school athlete having to juggle 3 sports, a job, and being expected to do well in school. This is the reality for many high school athletes today. Even if these students don’t continue with their athletic careers, this skill will still stick with them. As life goes on, it just gets busier and there is no better way to beat learning this skill than learning how to deal with this at a young age. I believe that learning to manage time by having a busy schedule will prove useful in the future for things such as college, work, and just life in
pressure it helps you relax for a period of time. Getting rid of popular sports
Admissions Essay A topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. The topic that I find so engaging is soccer and my love for playing the sport. I can get so caught up in it that 2 hours does not even feel like one. Even though I am sweating and working really hard to get better. Even in the hot or cold I can still get so engaged I don't even feel like I'm hot or cold because the thought of being hot or cold is not on my mind.
If anyone has ever been in a competitive sport, then they know what if feels like to be in an intense game. At times, winning can be the only thing on your mind, the most important goal of your team. As a football player, every win we achieved as a team brought on a rush of enthusiasm and energy. It was one of the best feelings in the world at the time. In fact, I would say winning was all I cared about in every game I played in. Of course, that didn’t happen, we lost almost every game my final season of football before I transitioned into the band program, but winning was all that mattered to me.
The greatest achievement in my life would have to be my success in the sport of football. I started playing the game at the age of eight. It stuck with me throughout my life until now. During a football game there are numerous amounts of dynamic situations to be involved with. There are so many crucial actions that take place in the matter of seconds. In a certain instance in my life , the game had a strong impact on my life. It took place my senior year against our rivals, the best team in the district. That Monday we began preparing for the coming Friday. It was a typical week until I woke up Wednesday morning. I was routinely late for school running around the house. On my way out the door the phone brought me to an abrupt stop. Turning around, I started to sprint to the phone. A few steps into it, I crushed my little toe on the leg of my couch. Face down on the carpet, I proceeded to scream in pain. Answering the phone quickly got check off my things to do list. As soon as I could regain my sanity I hopped over to the couch and forgot about school. My toe suddenly turned black and swollen. It was the worst coincidence that could’ve happened to me. I went to the hospital later that day, where I heard that my foot was broken and I couldn’t play.
