Abstract
The ultimate result of this paper will reflect my personal goals that I hope to achieve as a University of Phoenix student and which I have been and am trying to pursue and obtain. They are goals that I feel I need to have in life in order to survive, prosper, and succeed to higher full-filling and journeys. In this essay, I hope to convey to the reader how I am optimistically moving to reach these goals, as well as represent to the reader how one can set their mind to determine the goals that he or she needs and/or wants to reach and see that he or she can do it!
My personal goals that I would like to achieve as a University of Phoenix student are naturally instilled in me. They are goals (at least most of the goals) that I strive for everyday.
One goal that I would like to achieve, is to be the best student that can possibly be. This means that I want to learn, read, communicate, be prepared for, and successfully complete as much material as I can with respect to all my course’s assignments and participation throughout my entire Bachelor Degree Curriculum. I want the teachers to see and feel that I am really trying my hardest to do and excel in the learning materials presented to me; but also, that I enjoy the tasks, challenges, and completion of the assignments. The best reason that I have for enjoying the tasks, challenges, and completion of the assignments, is because I love to learn and be valuable. My mom always taught me, and I always preach to my children, that knowledge is power! This fact, (at least to me, it is a fact) having been instilled in me at such an early age, has been the driving force that has shaped my traits of inquisitiveness, determination, and motivation to seek and find answers to even just sometimes mere curiosities. For example, I may be talking with someone who says, “I wonder what the sentencing law is on a Possession of marijuana charge in New York”? If I think a question is a good question (such as this is to me), then I will look it up to full-fill my curiosity, as well as keep that answer in my research file; which is in my head and at home in a file cabinet.
I endeavor to obtain excellence in my academics; I wish to exemplify scholarship by constantly asking the whys and hows of things. I will not let a bad grade define who I am as a student or who I will become. I also want to take the most challenging classes available, not because it will look good on my college application, but because I genuinely love the concept of learning and discovering new things. Education doesn’t end after high school, so I plan to attend university, eager to attain the knowledge to better understand my world: and expand it.
This statement goes to Zinsser's belief that college is a time for students to try new things, and learn things about themselves that would give them an idea of what they want for their future. The students who pre-select their goals end up living satisfactory, but unfulfilled lives. It is this fear that made William Zinsser write this article in hopes that readers will learn that true success sometimes results from taking chances, and giving up control.
Second, I want to be more engaged in class. I need to be sure that I am up to date for all assignments that are due, motivated myself to do well in classes and hope to achieve a passing grade. By being involving myself with asking for help from professors, seeking out for a tutor and possibility managing my time better. This is a learning goal because I often struggled with being unaware of how I am going to do in class and this can help me understand what to do to be successful in college. I will know if I achieved this goal by the grades I will
My educational goals are important to me. My goals are to come out of English 100 and be able to write any kind of memo, document, or resume; because I know someday every one of these writing projects will become useful.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
A goal I have for academics is to not fail any quizzes or tests. One way I can do this is to study before every quiz and test. I can do this by making a good study guide and good notes for myself. I will also ask many questions so I can so I can know all the information. If I am confused on a question, I should ask questions so I can understand what will be asked on the test. One of the most important things I need to do to help my test grade is pay attention in class. If I take plenty of notes and listen to the lesson, I will have resources to study off of so I will do well. This year, I should do well on all of my tests and quizzes as long as I study, pay attention in class, and ask plenty of questions.
In conclusion, my dream is to become successful in college and benefit from college skills that will help me reach my future goals. However, I may have to be prepared for the obstacles that I might encounter, and learn to overcome them. Much of my success will depend upon my willingness to seek advice from experts and professors. In addition, I will have to learn how to build effective strategies that will help me achieve my dream of becoming successful students
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be
Although college is challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from others, by developing strategies, and by setting goals for myself. College is not for everybody that is why I have to be focused on my goals if I want to be successful one day. I want to be one of those students who graduate. “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas
Colleges and universities need to be structured so that they prepare students for specific career roles, as well as give them a level of appreciation for the world in which they live. Brewer’s succe...
to give my best, to enjoy my education and the teachers that are here to help me,
In the college success strategies (COLL 101) class, we had explored various areas of future possibility. Throughout the quarter, We sketched out the big pictures of the future. We identified potential destination and explored the path to get there. In this reflection essay, I would like to talk about and reflect on personal development throughout the quarter.
At the end I would like to include that the most important thing in learning process is being intrinsically motivated. Because it satay us lifelong. If you have no motive that means we won’t have any goals of our life. So as a student we all should have a certain targets towards our
At the start of my undergraduate education, I was taken aback by what I had ahead of me. Now finally out of high school, a bevy of opportunities suddenly sprang themselves upon me. I was faced with the questions of what classes to take, what to study, what to participate in, how to fend for myself, how to accomplish my goals, and countless others. After struggling with these monumental questions, I realized that, in fact, nothing had changed. I was still the same person I had always been, only now presented with much more opportunity and room to grow. Thus, rather than continuing to flounder in grandiose thought, I began to experience what only a university can offer, by embracing the infinite potential presented to me.
Relentless betterment has always been the motive of my life. The foremost requirement to attain this is knowledge and profound guidance. After the completion of my course under the guidance of your privileged university I am confident enough that I will take the path of constant growth.
