Personal Essay: Pursuing A Degree In High School

Personal Essay I’ve always have seen myself as a very independent and motivated person who goes for the things I want. There were a lot of key moments during high school that helped me to grow as a student that I would like to share with you. When I entered high school, I was very scared because I was at the bottom. I felt that I had to reach certain standards and to really focus on my grades to get through my four years of high school. On every homework assignment, and tests that were given I would always make sure to improve on the ones that I missed. I remember a time in my life where I failed a really important exam. I put myself down for it and let failure define me. The outcome was that I shouldn’t have put myself down for failing this one test because failure doesn’t define me, it teaches me to not give up and to keep moving on. For the first three years of high school I focused more on my schoolwork then participating in clubs and events that were really important for me to do.
Senior year I knew that I wanted to be more involved in clubs and start doing volunteer hours. I am currently enrolled in my 3rd year of CSF. California Scholarship Federation is a great experience for me because it gives a chance to students who qualify and sign up in high school to get a scholarship. One of my special interests in Track & Field is throwing shotput and discus. Sophomore year, I was awarded “Best Outstanding Field” and was the champion for both events in the Mother Lode League. The following year I won the same award, but only for discus. Not getting awarded in shotput made me think that I want to try harder to achieve the goal of winning both events again and that it really means something to me. This sport is one that will continue on with me when I graduate high school and go to
