I believe that all things are achievable as long as a person is willing to put in the effort that is needed and persevere through the inevitable difficulties. Bobby Knight once said, “Mental toughness is to physical as four is to one.” For me this is one of the universal statements ever made. Because of living in a working class household in Ohio, I have learned the importance of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility. I grew up in a working class home in a suburb of Columbus Ohio. My father worked very long and physically demanding hours to support my mother, my two brothers and myself. I also have three children whom I support and a husband whom I also tend to. Consequently, in life, I figure out the best ways to help my loved ones. I went back to school and earn my GED in April of 2016 when I was 29 years old. Now I have started college to pursue my career in nursing. Hard work was my first lesson as my father had demonstrated, and understand this important in order to achieve the goals that I have in life. My father always told me to work hard with my brain and not to destroy my body in the process. I understand now what my father was talking about because hard work comes in many forms. No matter if, people are building a house or drawing up the blue prints, they are putting one hundred percent into their current task, and they are working hard. While the ability to be a hard worker is undeniably important, perseverance is the only way to achieve your maximum abilities. Perseverance is the factor that separates those that achieve their goals and those who only attempt them. I learnt this as a result from my mom and dad. I see the consequence from them as they struggled in life to pay bills and to go back to school themselves. My dad had to work a full time job and still pushed through to get his GED. While my mom worked and took care of us. They taught me to keep persevering in life to get what you need and
